Because the owner of the stallion can only draw so many straws in a game year (one real life month)
And there's a maximum amount of straws able to exist in total for one stallion (50)
So if someone is not using/hoarding straws from a stallion who still has a lot of breeding years left then the owner can't draw any more straws and its pretty annoying

a stud can only have a certain amount of straws in existance at any given time(I don't remember the exact number) so by holding onto straws, you prevent any more from being pulled from that boy :)

Its courteous to use them the month you bought them unless they're retiring/retired
But no they won't expire or anything

I don't know if this is the correct forum to show her off, but I just popped this little filly out of my Pride and Joy stallion and mare last night! I have yet to rank her (will on Monday) but her daddy is S/S/P and her mommy is P/P/P. My first Buttermilk baby!
