Maverick woke up in the middle of the night biting back a scream from the nightmare,it was from the first time his uncle beat him with the belt,he had been twelve..he remembered exactly where the scars were,exactly how it stung and how many hours afterwards he had cried not just from the pain,but from fear and a feeling of loss,he remembered dawning on the realization that it wouldnt be the last time this happened and that was the reason he had cried so long,to get out all the tears so he wouldnt have to express the pain again,Mav had promised not to let one sign of sadness or any hurt show in his house from that day and he'd kept it very well,after that you could make him bleed all you wanted but he never shed a single tear,it made him look insane,especially the time he had t be rushed to the hospital for stitches when a glass bottle and sliced open the back of his neck and he hadn't even cried or made a noise,they thought he was dead or in shock,neither was true

(After she was released from the hospital)

Makena took in a few breaths as her heart started to race. The doctors said she needed to stay calm at all times. "Mom..?" She muttered, "Will I always be like this?". Her mother smiled at Makena, reaching back and brushing her hand. "Don't worry sweetie, I've got it all taken car of." That didn't answer her question?

Makena brushed it off, and glanced out the car window, her eyes full of tears. What did this mean? Why did this have to happen to her? Why? Why? Why..!

Mav was at school with his eye still badly bruised and Jhon was deffinetly worried "dude what the hell happened to you!?"

"My uncle..he heard about the fight" he sighed walking to science,his books felt heavier than usual,as if the weight of everyones stares were piling onto it,this day wasnt going well,plus Makena hated him now because hed defended himself..but he didnt blame her,he was a freak and everyone at this point thought so,except Jhon,his only friend left,they sat at one of the four seater tabled and pulled out all the work due

Makena's mom pulled up to their school, and looked back at Makena, "You ready?" she asked. "Yeah mom.. You don't have to walk me either-" She answered, grabbing her bag and swinging open the door. She slammed the door behind her and trudged towards the entrance. "Don't forget your medicine in your bag! And your breathing excersises! Oh, and stay away from anything that'll make you anxious, mad, sad, or any other overwhelming emotion!" Her mother yelled from her car window. Makena rolled her eyes and looked back, "Got it mom!!" She hollered back, entering the school with her head down.

Mav went silent for the rest of this lesson,even before it started he was just quiet staring at a wall while everyone else around him made noise,some kid walked up to him and asked why he didnt just file a case against his uncle..he knew the answer but didnt share it,his uncle was a cop..if that case was file he would tamper with it,it made Maverick feel so useless but what could he really do? Absolutely nothing..he could beat people up but that lost him friends,friends like Makena,how would he make this better?

Makena looked down at her feet as she entered the class room, not even glancing towards the kids in the class. Specially not Maverick.

Class was almost over, but she was required to go straight to her class, no distractions. Her head was low the rest of class, and her eyes stuck in one place: A silent corner of the classroom.

When the end of the class rung Mav stood and sighed,he had to fix things with Makena,she didnt have to accept it but he needed to appologize so when the bell sounded in the hall he walked out but waited just outside the door for her to step out,Maverick didnt want to hurt or scare her,there had to be some part of the girls mind that remembered how he had promised to help her no matter what? Didnt she remember seeing him in the locker room at his most vunerable? He never let his guard down like that at all but she..he had trusted her and now she hated him story of my life he shook his head and went back to waiting

Makena struggled to stand. She was a bit lightheaded, and her anxiety was spiking up today. There was too much drama going on, she didn't know how to calm herself. Once she got to her feet, she trudged through the desks, and towards the door. She honestly just wanted to lie down and take a long nap.

Maverick saw Makena and just walked up to her,he didnt do much except say the simple sentence

"Im sorry about what happened the other day at the pool" that was it,well almost

"If you want me to explain more then ill be by the last bench in the corner during break,so if you need to,just meet me there" and with that he turned and left,dissapearing round a corner and doubting she would show up or care about what he had said
