Mari watched happily, though when Sage came to settle down next to her she just flashed him a very happy smile as she watched the kids. She sort of gave a small sigh as she flopped back. She did sort of wonder if the doctor would tell them about what was going on in the castle... he knew better than anyone the health of the king and queen, and he would let them know if they weren't doing too well. Sage would probably go and talk to the princess, and find out what was going on with her too. She was definitely interested.

Sage grinned back at Mari happily, more than glad to watch the doctor interact with the kids for a while before they'd headed off to do...whatever they'd decided to do. They knew better than to disrupt patients or make a mess, or touch any equipment and things like that...so he wasn't all that worried about them. They could go have fun while the three adults talked for a while. Which was exactly what they'd done. They did manage to figure out that the king and queen were worse off then most people realized, and while he didn't particularly care, he did make a mental note to make sure Anya was alright.

Mari was admittedly a little bit worried when they found out that they really were quite sick. "Do you think they're surviving then?" She asked curiously to the doctor. She wasn't sure what would come of it all. If the king and queen passed away, Anya needed to be married and ready to take the throne. It would be worse if the rebels found out they weren't telling the whole truth.

Sage cocked his head curiously, nodding along to Maris comments about the royal couple. He did want to know....would Anya become queen? He hadn't thought he'd live to see it, but maybe he would get to see her crowned. Would she still have time for him? Want him around? He shook his worries off, knowing she wouldn't just dismiss him. He hoped so, at least. The doctor shrugged in response to the comment, grunting in thought. "Hard to say," he mused. 'if they were twenty years younger, they'd most likely survive. Now...it's simply a guessing game," he informed the young couple.

The woman sort of cocked her head at the doctor, it was vague, but she took that as more of a no, they won't live rather than a maybe. She hummed in thought before nodding. "It's a little bit worrying you know. No one else out there knows, and when they find out all hell is gonna break loose," she hummed to the man. But, she supposed, if they did tell the civilians about it all it could cause incentive for another raid, especially when the guards have no one to take orders from. The people hadn't seen much of Anya over the years, either. She knew lots of people didn't think she'd be at all ready to rule, and if she was crowned out of the blue it may cause problems.

Sage pursed his lips with a nod in response to Maris comments about the royal couple, humming slightly before sighing. "I'll talk to Anya, see if she's doing alright in a bit," he murmured. "As far as I know, she hadn't chosen a suitor yet either," he sighed, running his fingers through his hair as he thought. 'i hope she has a plan. The villagers could get rowdy with the change." Most people didn't really like the king and queen anyway, but the change would cause its own issues, especially if Anya wasn't ready to rule. And from what he'd heard when talking to her, she wasn't. Not really. And she'd need a suitor, and he was admittedly worried about how she'd take it. And who she'd take. How she'd wind up getting treated. That sort of thing. "All we can do now is wait and see," the doctor mused, shaking his head. The man didn't expect the king to last the next few nights, and the queen not much longer than that. But they could get better ....the chance was slim, very slim, but it could happen.

Mari looked up at Sage and sort of hummed in agreement... if he could find out anything it may be of use. The sooner the better, acrually... things could be changing quite rapidly, and she wasn't sure the outcome would be good. Either way things went, the towns folk wouldn't be impressed that they hadn't been told anything, and Anya did need a suitor at least. She didn't have much faith in any of the heirs around. Luther had been a good guy, but he was very much an oddity around here. "They're going to be more upset nothing was said about it. The last I heard the king and queen had a cold," she scoffed lightly. She nodded quiely to the doctor, though she sort of just slumped back in her chair. "Oh, we brought muffins," she mused happily.

Sage had nodded in response to Maris comment, sighing slightly. "I suppose we'll just have to wait and see," he mused softly, brows furrowed slightly. Though, when Mari mentioned the muffins, he chuckled slightly and moved to grab them and hand them out. They ate and talked for a bit, until Mari went to check on the kids and he grabbed a few muffins to bring down to Anya and att. He wandered over to the girls room and knocked, poking his head in and greeting the girl happily when she called to enter. "Mari made muffins so I figured you'd want a few," he told her happily, setting the plate down on the bedside table and then plopping down in the chair next to the girl. "Hope it's not a bad time," he added with a shrug.

Mari nodded quiely, but she had to admit the whole thing was worrying her a little. She had a feeling the next few months may not be easy... and while all they could do was wait and see, she could only hope the king and queen would be alright... at least for the next few years. - Anya sat quietly in her room, much the way she had for the last few months. Everything had been stacked onto her recently, and it was showing. Her eyes were strained, and there was a permanent wrinkle where her brows had been pinched together. Worry lines. She worried so much now, about everything. She barely saw her son, either. A small sigh escaped her when she heard the knock at the door, and sort of squinted over at it once she'd called to enter. A sort of small sigh of relief escaped her when it was just Sage, then moved to sit back in her chair. She took a muffin from the plate and sort of glared at him. "It's never a good time," she huffed.
