Sage sort of hummed with a shrugcin response to her comment. "I suppose I could eat before going down there," he thought out loud. "or have an apple on the way as toss the core at chaos," he mused lightly, rather amused at the thought. He crawled out of bed though, releasing Amber who trotted along on his blind side, as always. The cat was getting old ...but she was still as active as ever, which really he was just quite thankful for. He liked having her around. He changed quickly and moved to get the kids up while Mari worked on breakfast. Or lunch. Whichever she'd decided on. Either way, he'd shooed them over to the kitchen soon enough, plopping down himself for a quick meal before heading out to the barns.

The woman rolled her eyes at him, though soon enough was making some food and water out on the table. The kids were awake, running themselves around happily until she called them to the table. She pecked the Sage on the cheek before he left, and soon enough clearing what the kids had eaten. She sort of smiled as they started buzzing again, though encouraged them to go and get changed, brush their teeth and comb their hair with a little help from her. Though, they were almost better than Sage at getting themselves showered. The thought amused her, though soon both Liz and Silas was happily back to running around as Mari finished tidying up.

Sage had ate quickly, letting Mari peck him on the cheek as he moved out the door, pressing a quick kiss to her head on return on his way out. He wandered down to the barns, where the horses seemed eager to see him. No doubt they were hungry by then, so he got right to work. He was almost done with feeding when the kids ran outside, and he watched them fora moment, chuckling softly to himself before finishing up his chores. (Yeah don't worry) Mari gave a soft smile as she watched the kids run outside... the weather was nice, so she wasn't too worried about them. Plus, Sage was out there. She gave a small hum to herself, eventually going to settle back on the couch. She did wonder if she should go work with her mother in the bakery at some point... she was getting bored here. And the kids weren't so little that they needed someone watching them all the time now. Sage was always in earshot of them too.... she didn't know, they'd have to think about it. Right now, though, she was happy just to relax for a while.

Sage watched the kids run around in the yard for a bit before moving to finish up the feeding and then moved to just check in on the few mares that were still with foal. There was another one born the night before....a tiny bay filly with a crooked sort of star on her head. He sort of kept half an eye on the kids while he worked with the horses, but finished up soon enough before wandering back over towards the house. He greeted the kids, and played with them for a little while before heading back inside and changing, then grabbing the lunch Mari had packed him and kissed her bye before heading down to the castle and wandering around to find att and Anya.

Mari gave a little grin to her husband when he said bye, though soon got the kids in so she could keep an eye on them. It was early afternoon then, so she soon decided to settle down and start making tea for when Sage got back... she figured it would be quite nice for the kids to eat and for both Sage and herself might get to spend a bit of time together... it meant she could get the kids to bed a little earlier, too. She then sighed and sort of moved to settle back down though... really at a loss for what to do. Anya sort of sat in her room trying to get some form of work done... though, it was difficult considering there was a small glass of whiskey and a quarter emptied bottle on her desk. At this point, she was just trying to take an edge off the nerves and relax... though it was difficult. She was passed being nervous and really was just buzzed now. She was supposed to be meeting suitors over the next few days, but really was just doing everything in her power not too... she'd had a fiancé, and she didn't love him as a husband, but she couldn't really imagine anyone else now. It was so strange... she hadn't felt this much pressure in years, and she was just about ready to break under it. Edited at August 17, 2024 05:26 PM by Belle

Sage had gathered up chaos and decided to just ride, and let the stallion run for a while. It would be nice for both of them, and required less effort to just toss in a set of clip on reins to his halter and hop on than set up the carriage and all that. He arrived at the castle soon after that, and handed the horse off to the guard that offered to take care of him before moving to find Anya, he could smell the alcohol as he neared her room and wrinkled his nose slightly, turning to the kitchen and grabbing some coffee for the two of them before moving back to the girls room and picking up the alcohol and replacing it with the coffee cup and then plopping down next to her. "If you want to feel sick on top of stressed he ny guest but I'd rather not have to clean up your puke. Did enough of that at the tavern," he teased lightly in a sort of greeting, though he was rather worried about her. He'd never seen her drink...and certainly not this drunk. So it was a bit worrisome to see.

The woman found herself just staring at the sheet infront of her, though not a lot was getting written down.... not a lot of anything came out of her room recently. In truth, she was just finally cracking under the pressure... it was finally breaking her, and the best she could do was try not to let it show. She wasn't doing the best job of that but... oh well. She was trying anything she could to just feel it a little less, and this was working... well, it was working. It was working until Sage came through the door and all of a sudden she was seventeen again. She used to get so excited to see him...for their little adventures. She sort of just wished she could go back... fix whatever happened so he didn't have to leave... so that he didn't have to leave her. But that wouldn't happen. Instead, he was here, and he was scolding her in the nicest way he could. How come he got to live happily, with his kids and wife who loved him while she had... she had... what? Atticus? He didint love her. He was grateful, but he didn't love her. The people who did love her, her parents, they were dying soon. Luther had loved her, but he's dead now. She wasn't even sure why Sage was here, actually. She just sort of stared at him before looking into the drink bitterly. "I don't drink coffee Sage, never have," she huffed, her brows pinching together as she got more exasperated. "Why are you here?" It was a good question... he hadn't come by in years and suddenly he was here two days n a row? She didn't like it... and she didn't like whatever he was trying to do by being here, either.

Sage simply shrugged and sniffed the empty wine bottle from where he was sitting and wrinkled his nose slightly before setting it down. "You never drank whiskey either, and we can see that's no longer the case," he noted, watching her for a moment with a sigh. He did hate to see her like this....just wasting away. Even more so because he knew what it felt like, and knowing she was going through it all too felt like he was hurting all over again. Except it was somehow worse....this was someone he loved, not just himself. He raised a brow at her question before grunting. "Promised att if help him train Luther," he noted. "And I want to help you too," he added, shaking his head slightly, setting his coffee down on the table. He didn't like the stuff, but whatever. Anya was a little too...not sober for his liking. Would she push him away? What if he was coming on too strong and she'd send him off hating him for it all? He hoped that wasn't the case, but she'd already practically snapped at him so....he supposed he'd just deal with whatever happened.

The woman rolled her eyes at him, sort of reaching over to out the cork back in the bottle moving to put it in the cabinet over her desk. She didn't know why he was here... she didn't know what he wanted. She sighed softly before going to sit back down. "You wouldn't know, you haven't had a full conversation with me in a long time, Sage," she muttered tiredly, sort of going run her hand over her face. She wasn't sure what was going on in his head... he wanted to help, but why? She didn't get it. She just stared at the dark drink on the counter before wrinkling her nose. He wanted to help, apparently... but there was no way he could help. He'd never been in a situation like this. She had so many people around her telling her everything was okay, but she didn't trust one of them. None of them actually cared about it. It was stupid, she always knew it was possible something like this would happen, but she didn't expect it to be so... heavy. Her brows punched together, not sure what to say or do. "You should probably go and help him then," she muttered, sort of ignoring the second hit. It was weird how much resentment she managed to hold... not just for Sage, but seemingly for everyone.
