Sage couldn't help but chuckle when she joked back. Good, if she felt good enough to have a sense of humor about her then she couldnt be doing too bad. He nodded when she said att never was one to seek her out. "he's gotten big," he mused lightly, shaking his head with a small laugh. "Seems only like yesterday he was still a baby," he added with a sigh, sort of just thinking back to everything that had happened. "seems crazy how much has changed since then."

The woman nodded when he mentioned the boy had gotten big. She supposed he had. She never really noticed until someone pointed it out. "He just eats well, unlike some," she murmured. She cocked her head at him, though suddenly was rather... upset about how it all had panned out. It didn't seem fair. "Yeah. Back then, we were shagging, you were begging to go back down the slums with your abusive father, and I was trying to prepare to marry my fiancé. Now, you're married, with children and a lovely little group of people around you, in a nice little house with your horses and art. I lost my fiancé, my parents are dying, I'm about to take over a kingdom I know fuck all about..." she hummed looking over at him with her fingers pinched together. "And I am this close to chucking myself off that balcony," she wasn't, not really. But god, she was so get up with all. "Crazy how things change, huh?" She huffed bitterly.

Sage snorted lightly when she mentioned the boy ate, and he raised an eyebrow at her. "Hey, I've learned to eat just fine," he complained in mock offense. Of course, at her next comments, his brows furrowed and he sighed after a moment, trying to think of how to respond to that. "If you think about it like that you'll never be happy," he noted after a moment or so. "Believe me, I know it's hard. It's really, really hard. But once you get your feet under you it'll start to get better," he murmured. Then he looked over at her again, meeting her eyes. "I'm not gonna sit here and sugar coat everything and tell you it's fine. It's not. But I am going to kick your ass if you keep ruining your own life like this," he noted.

The woman just sort of gave him a look at his comment about eating and shook her head. It had taken so long to get him eating properly. He probably would have a very different life if he had. If he hadn't gone through what he had from such a young age. But, he had, and she couldn't fix that no matter how hard she tried. She was never able to make him happy. She never made many people that happy when she thought about it. Silas didn't think of her as a mother, she'd made it clear to him he wasn't her son. She definitely fucked up there. She was meant to have it all by now and she just didn't. She wasn't a particularly up beat person. Not anymore, anyway. Not for a good few years at least. She didnt understand how things went so wrong for her. She didn't understand how she could be going backwards, not forwards. She then wrinkled her nose at him. "No one's life is being ruined, and you of all people don't need to kick my ass about it," she mused after a moment. Her mother should have been the one doing that.

Sage sort of groaned and flopped his head back against the chair when she sort of just mumbled out a response. Whatever he was doing obviously was t helping. But he didn't know what else to do. And it was safe to say this whole thing of not being able to help her was eating away at him. "What does this feel like to you then," he asked after a moment. "Because I doubt you see this as a good life at the moment," he pointed out. Then he sighed again. "Anya, what do you need," he asked, shaking his head. "I want to help. But I can't if you don't let me," he murmured.

The woman glanced over at him after a moment, a slightly amused chuckle escaping her when he couldn't figure out what she needed. She didn't know. She never really had a need for anything. It was all handed to her. This was something that she couldn't get giving to her, and she didn't even know what this was. She shrugged at his question before giving a small hum. "It feel empty. I'm anticipating everything that will happen, and every second that passes feel like the world is closing in. Right now? The world is so quiet and it's scaring me," she muttered after a moment or two. She sort of wrinkled her nose at him. "It was never supposed to be a 'good life.' It was never supposed to be easy. But it's getting harder. So much harder than it should have been," she rolled her eyes at her own thoughts, just realising that none of it would have made much sense to him. She had everything she'd ever wanted and yet it wasn't supposed to be easy? Yeah, no, he wouldn't take that in. Her brows pinched together after a moment and she just sort of shrugged. "I don't know," she muttered.

Sage sort of just listened to the girls comments, listening with a cocked head. "have you left this room at all," he asked once she was done. "Life isn't supposed to be easy. But we also make it harder than it needs to be sometimes," he thought out loud. He was quiet for a moment before cocking his head slightly. "When was the Last time you've visited your parents," he asked quietly. If she was just ignoring their condition, that wouldn't help any of them. She needed to be able to say goodbye, to get her feet under her a little bit.

Anya let out a soft sigh after a moment and sort of shook her head. Last time she'd been out must have been at least a few days ago. She couldn't remember what it was for. Probably to pick up some papers or something. She sort of looked up at him after a moment, then picked her pen up to start on her work again. She was still listening to him, but again the world just felt quiet and it really was frightening her. "I went out not too long ago," she muttered, resting her head back on her hand. As she skimmed the papers over, then put it to the side once she decided she'd done a good enough job of it. She didn't want to make life hard. She was trying to feel better, but it was just... difficult, she supposed. Every time she left this room she just got so overwhelmed by everything, to the point it made her sick. She hummed when he asked about her parents, she shrugged softly. "I've not seen them in a while. I don't want to see them sick, Sage."

Sage nodded when she said she'd been out relatively recently, and hummed softly in response to her comment about her parents. "Good," he noted in response to her first comment before sighing and nodding. "I know. But later on you'll wish you'd spent more time with them while you could," he reminded her gently. He was quiet for a few moments before grunting. "Why don't we go have a picnic in the garden or something? Just for an hour or two....but to get you out of here and relax for a bit," he suggested, waving his hand around her room. "You need breaks. Can't just work all day every day," he noted with slight amusement. "No one can do that. Not even God, from what they say."

The woman sort of glanced over at him at his comment, her head bobbing softly in response to him. "I'll go see them in a bit," she murmured softly to him. She still didn't want to see them like that. In truth, it scared her. She didn't want to remember them sick and frail. Her mother especially. She sighed and moved to put her things to the side. She glanced out the window and pinched her brows softly. She wasn't sure. She had things to do. But, on the other hand she knew Sage was trying to help. "Yeah, ok," she muttered softly before standing up to put some shoes on. She did want to get out, she supposed.
