Sage gave the girl a grin in response to her comments, nodding his head up and down in agreement. "Yeah we had a nice time," he chirped, shifting to watch the girl grab the cup of tea and sip at it. "Thanks," he added when she agreed that Anya could come over....he knew they weren't really friends, but he wanted to show his family and stuff off a little bit. And it would be nice for Anya to get away for a little bit. (Short I gotta run lol)

(Yeah nws) Mari let a little smile cross her face at his gratitude, but shook her head after a moment. "It's you're house too, you know. You can invite people over," she teased lightly. "There's some left overs for you in the oven. I'm gonna go get the bed made and showered," she mused. It was getting sort of late, now... but she was happy to just chill out. "Kids are in their rooms if you wanna go say night," she chirped gently before patting him on the back.

Sage chuckled softly and nodded in response to her comment. "I know. But I don't want to surprise you with guests and shove work at you without at least asking first,* he pointed out lightly. He hummed softly and thanked her when she mentioned dinner, moving to peck her on the cheek when she patted him. He stayed where he was for a few more minutes before moving to grab the leftovers from the oven, eating what he wanted and then putting the rest away. Then he moved to tell the kids goodnight before moving up the stairs and to his and maros bedroom, greeting her happily before moving to shower quick and then crawl into bed with her happily.

She raised a brow at him before rolling her eyes. "If you really wanted to surprise me, you and said guest could at least make me dinner," she teased lightly, though soon watched him trot off. A little smile crossed her face after a moment before moving to wander upstairs after a little bit, taking a shower and putting on some comfy clothes to settle down in. She wasn't tired yet, though. She found she wasn't often tired at all nowadays. She supposed there just wasn't an awful lot to do when the kids went out, and Sage was out doing... stuff most of the day so all she really did was read. A soft breath escaped her as she moved to settle down on the couch after a little while longer, eventually just trying to read until she could settle down.

Sage had chuckled lightly and shook his head. "I'm not sure you want Anya cooking anything in your kitchen," he noted with a fond amusement as he'd wandered off to get his food. Their conversation had sort of ended there, as they'd gone their own separate ways by then, but that was fine. Once he was ready for bed, he sort of flopped onto the before huffing out a breath when he couldn't fall asleep quite yet despite being tired. He got up after a bit, passing down to where Mari was reading and curling up next to her, settling in. He wasn't really reading her book....and he's let her keep reading, but it was just nice to relax there with her.

The woman was sat down for a little while, though sort of jumped when she floor boards creaked when Sage stepped on them. She offered a soft smile when he came over though, and instinctively went to run a hand softly up and down his back, sort of starting to read him the book without even thinking about it. She did the same thing with the kids quite a bit too... it was rather sweet. She smiled again at the thought. It was maybe about half and hour the next time she thought about it, and this time sort of shifted to lay down on the couch, making enough room for Sage to curl up if he wanted to. She was lucky to have him... yes, the heat in their relationship had died out a long time ago... but her she still felt so safe with him. She loved him more than ever for that. That was a nice feeling, she supposed.

Sage gave the woman a sort of sheepish grin in apology when she jumped, though he had to admit it was rather amusing. Either way, it was nice to just curl up. He hadn't expected her to start reading out loud, but it was nice all the same. He'd gotten better at the whole reading and writing thing....he had to keep orders and such straight somehow, but mari honestly did most of the office work foe him atill anyway. He really was lucky to have her....not just to do his work for him or anything like that, but because she was willing to helo him with things, and he wasnt so embarrassed that he coukdnt do everything himself around her.

The woman settle down after a little while, until she'd ended her chapter, put the book down and sort of just layed there comfortably, her hand still gently running up and down his side. A heavy breath escaped her and she just looked over at him. "When you planning on bringing Anya over," she murmured softly, sort of in a whisper. She didn't know why, but whispering just felt right. She still wasn't tired, but actually having a conversation that consisted of real words rather than a child's blabbering sounded pretty good to her right about then.

Sage was more than happy to just rest there with her for a bit, enjoying her warmth and touch, and the comfort she always brought him. He always felt safest when he was in her arms, which may seem sort of odd but he did t really care all that much. He hummed in thought when she spoke up before shrugging. "I dunno," he mused quietly. "I'll pop in tomorrow or the day after and mention it. See when she'd want to stop by," he thought out loud, instinctually looking up at the woman next to him to get an agreement from her. He supposed he was asking her if it was alright, and while he didn't have to, he felt like he did. It was her house too, and if she didn't want the extra work of company, then he wouldn't argue.

The woman felt a little grin cross her face after a moment, and gave a little nod of agreement to him when he looked at her, and sort of moved to peck the top of his head. "That's sounds fine," she murmured softly before letting out another soft breath. "Just let me know before, yeah? That way I can make sure we have everything," she whispered before moving to peck his nose again, a little smile crossing her face. She knew she didn't particularly get on with Anya, but she was excited to have someone come and visit. It always seemed like they went out of their way to go and see other people, so having someone actually come over was a nice change.
