Anya chuckled at him shaking her head. She wasn't sure what was funny, but laughing was infectious so she found herself grinning. "And you're kind of... Scary?" She almost questioned before adding on, "Well, not scary, but intimidating," Anya added to his list. Sage was right though. What was life without trouble? Well, that was part of the reason she was out here in the first place. "Lizzie's charming. That's why everyone higher up likes her. While you might look alike, you have completely different personalities," She murmured with a light huff. While she was sure his impulsiveness would do him good out on the streets, it wouldn't make him friends - well, not the right ones at least.

He finally got his laughter under control and nodded. "I've had the scar over my eye since I was five. That doesn't exactly make me look welcoming." He shrugged. "But I've never really been one to settle with the system and act humble." He looked over at Lizzie again. "She's nicer than I am. By a lot."

Anya leaned forward a little to look at his scar. It wasn't too bad. Not bad enough for it to be the soul reason for people to find hin off-putting. She thought quietly for a moment before eventually deciding he just had a menacing vibe. "I feel like Lizzie has more of a reason to be nice than you do." She shrugged, tilting her head. An empty-looking smile sprouted on her face as he spoke, about settling with the system. "It's not a bad thing - If you did, you'd be working in the tavern right now doing god knows what." She grumbled, "And I'd have myself in a hell of a lot of trouble."

Sage snorted. "If I acted like Lizzie I would have been killed a long time ago." He shrugged. "I've learned that if I just look like I'm going to murder everyone then they mostly leave me alone. Unless they wanna pick a fight. Then things just get fun." He shrugged again and grinned sheepishly. "Fightings really all the fun I get. I can never relax out here enough to just chill."

Anya crooked her head, a frown painting its way onto her face. "Wait, so you actually enjoy fighting?" She asked with a slightly turned-up nose. "You say that life is nothing without trouble, which I suppose is true, but Sage, you're going to be in trouble if all the fun you get is from beating people. Is it not lonely?" Anya's brow furrowed slightly. She had always been quite secure in the way that she could chill out. Though, she still felt as though she needed the validation of others to tell her she was fine. It seemed like Sage was the opposite.

Sage shrugged. "I guess I just enjoy it because I don't feel...powerless... when I can beat someone in a fight." He sighed and looked up at the sky, quiet for a moment. "I guess I figure that if I'm going to be treated badly without fighting, then I'll fight and take the hits as they come." He wasn't talking about physical fights, not anymore. This was all inside of him...the daily hardships of having a horrible father, a bad boss and job, and the constant mistreatment from everyone else around him. "If I push people away they can't hurt me. And I'd rather be lonely than hurt like that." He was confident in himself until it came to relationships and trust. He could throw a hit, and wasn't afraid to stare death in the face and fight him, but trusting someone? He was terrified to do that.

Anya went silent for a moment, unsure of how to reply. Did he really think like that? Were things so bad for him? She looked at him for a few seconds, thinking over their interactions. He seemed to chill out until she mentioned anything about rank; then got defensive - When it was just him and his sister it was the same until they went out into town and he got all tense. She supposed that is what would happen when everyone was out to hurt; no, kill you. It sounded miserable. Anya always had people that wanted to be around her, who were trying to get in her favor - she never really had anyone say a foul word to her. (other than her cousins, of course) Though, she couldn't imagine one word would affect her greatly. She looked out into the distance before resting her head on her knees, "I know you don't know me very well - nor I you - but do you feel the same around me? Are you going to block me out?" Anya surely hoped he wouldn't. So far, she quite enjoyed his company and prayed that he at least would put up with her for a little longer.

Sage rested his head back against the tree trunk and chuckled lightly. "Well so far I've opened up to you quite a bit." He shrugged. "I have a feeling I can trust you, and I usually go with what my gut tells me." He glanced over at her and grinned slightly. "Besides, I highly doubt you could hurt me even if you wanted to," he chuckled. It was true....he trusted Anya, though he wasn't quite sure why. She seemed genuine, though, and although he pushed people away, there was no one here he could let himself trust. But Anya wasn't from around here...he really couldn't find a way to not trust her, and he was desperate for someone he could talk to. Someone who treated him like a person, and forgot about rankings. Lizzie was nice, but he couldn't talk to her about the things he needed to talk about...she was still so young and innocent.

The girl put a look of offense on her face before scoffing, "Maybe you're right. I doubt that I could actually hurt anyone. Not physically at least." She shrugged with a huff. While Anya could be sweet, like most people, she had a nasty side. Not that she'd bring it out on purpose. As she thoughts back, she realized he had spewed quite a bit out to her. Had she prompted it? She had asked about him, but Sage seemed to spring a whole bunch onto her in one go. Anya didn't mind. It gave them something to talk about. She was glad really - otherwise, she really might have been nervous about him. For some reason, the girl assumed he'd have a short fuse. That he'd be impatient and maybe a little rude. Perhaps it was because he was tired the night before.

Sage chuckled. "You should learn self defense though. It's always a good skill set, and I would be more than willing to teach you some things." He chuckled. "And honestly, you seem like you'd pick up on it pretty quickly " He shrugged and looked over at her. "You're light and quick but you also weigh enough to bring an adult down if you had to."
