Cassidy lifted her head when she saw movement out of the corner of her eye and she saw it was Sage moving close to her to lay down. She scooted close to him until her side was pressed against his and she laid her head down on her paws while listening to the soft crackling sound of the fire on the logs. Her body heat radiated to Sage to help keep him warm and she even rested her head against the side of his. She yawned, letting her body relax. The sun was already gone by now but the fire kept a small light going in the cave so it wasn't pitch black.

Sage couldn't help but grin when Cass scooted closer to him and snuggle up against his side and head. Was it too early to make a joke about her already wanting to sleep with him? He debated it, but in the end decided to leave the girl alone and let her sleep. He closed his eyes with a sigh, since zombies couldn't swim they could both get a full nights rest...there was no reason to keep watch while they were in the cave. Cass's body heat was nice, and while he was asleep he subconsciously scooted closer and closer until they were wrapped up in each other.

During the night, it was the first night in three months that she slept peacefully without being jolted awake from the slightest sound or even a nightmare. Plus, it was nice having Sage there when he made her feel safer which shockingly was odd considering she was stronger than him. When morning came, her eyes slowly opened and she lifted her head with a quiet yawn. The fire was out and she could hear the faint sounds of birds chirping outside even over the calming sound of the waterfall. Cassidy slowly stood up and she stretched with a small groan before moving away from Sage to shake out her fur.

Sage slept better than he had...really ever. The fire, and safe space, and a friend, plus her body heat and comforting presence...it was pretty great. He slept for a while, even after Cassidy had woken up. About half an hour later he started to stir. He glanced upward, trying to read the time from the sun, groaned, and flopped his head back down, putting an arm over his eyes. He was is no way a morning person.

Her ears twitched when she heard Sage move and even groan and she couldn't help but laugh softly when she figured he wasn't a morning person. See, Cassidy was. She was always bright eyed and bushy in the morning to do her pack duties and even with an apocalypse going on, it never seemed to faze her. Cassidy turned around and she started to playfully stalk Sage until she jumped onto him, managing to avoid his wounds. She barked playfully with her tail wagging at a fast pace and she pressed her cold, wet nose against his cheek and gently nudged him to wake him up. Cassidy was young which meant even in her wolf form she acted like a puppy sometimes.

Sage groaned again but patted her head with a chuckle. "You have energy," he announced good naturedly and took his arm off from his eyes to look up at Cass, who really just resembled a fluffy dog. She was on top of him though...would it be weird if he made a joke about her straddling him already? He thought to not mention it and shake off the tiny adrenaline burst in his chest. She wasn't even a human right then, he'd have to just not think about it. They were friends, that was it.

She hopped off of him and she padded around with her head and tail high in pride. After a moment though she shifted into her human form and she was laughing, a genuine laugh that brought tears to her eyes. Cassidy couldn't remember the last time she laughed like that and it was over something so simple too. "I am a morning person. Thank you for noticing" she smiled brightly at him. It seemed the full belly and the first full nights sleep in months made her seem more vibrant. Bo dark circles under her eyes, her skin didn't seem so pale, and she had more energy. "Come on lazy bones, get up or else I'll jump on you again. I start bright and early to help my pack and you slept all night so rise and shine" she clapped her hands together a few times.

Sage groaned playfully and rubbed his face, grinning at her wide awake antics. "You'd jump on me in your human form, huh? Maybe I should stay on the floor as see what happens," he teased her, a wide smirk crossing his face as he cackled. Ok, so what if they'd know eachother for a day and a half? He was a teaser ....until they teased back, and then he just became a flustered mess, though the girl didn't need to know that. Besides, he liked her. .she was nice, and actually really pretty. He could tease.

"Maybe you should stay laying down" she teased him, walking over to the pile of logs to see how much they had left. It would last them a couple of days so tomorrow she knew she would have to go out looking for more. It wouldn't be hard though considering there were a lot of trees around and if anything she could search the town for logs. Cassidy tucked some of her hair behind her ear and she turned to face Sage "I know you can't do much still so I might try a sniff out some food later on. Something red meat that way we can have a better meal tonight."

Sage snorted at her tease back at him, stretching once he sat up. He watched the girl wander around, still half asleep. "That's fine with me. If you get a larger animal I can smoke any meat we don't eat so we can store it in case there's a few days where we can't find any food or we're on the move or whatever." It would be good to have a backup, and if she could take down a decent sized deer, it would last the two of them for quite a while.
