Mari eventually had dinner ready, though once they all ate she sort of rushed the kids to bed, her mind running as she made her way back to the kitchen to clean up. Although, she soon found herself pacing around rather than actually doing anything productive. She knew nothing bad would happen, but worst case scenario was still running around her head. Invasion; house raided, kids and horses taken away and Sage would probably be killed. They'd all be taken from her one way or the other. Rebellion? Well, that would just be worse for whole other reasons. It wouldn't happen, though, so why was her breath quickening to a point that she couldn't gain control over it again. She soon found herself still as her hand gripped onto the kitchen counter tops, at very least trying to slow her breathing again.

Sage had eaten dinner, and then helped get the kids ready for bed before moving to shower himself. He waited around for a while once he'd gotten ready, but when Mari didn't come up soon he wandered down, only to find her gripping the counter hard enough to turn her knuckles white. He sighed softly and moved to gently ease her hands, which no doubt would be hurting, off the counter and drawing her into a hug. He didn't say anything....he didn't really need to. He knew what she was worrying about. He just hoped she knew he was just trying to tell her he's always be there for her.

Mari felt her breathing speed up, not sure what was happening but reallly just not able to do anything about it. She was always one to worry no matter what- but this just felt too big to ignore. It must have been another ten or so minutes when she felt Sage try and pry her now incredibly stiff fingers from the counter. She didn't waste long moving to wrap her arms around him, trembling but honestly just not able to do anything about it. It got worse for a few seconds, her breathing hitching in a way that made her body convulse. Right now, she needs not to think about the worse case. What could go wrong. She couldn't stop it. Sage let out a quiet sigh when Mari practically launched herself at him, and he tightened his his grip on her slightly when he felt her trembling. Her hitch on her breath went a pang through his chest.....he hadn't realized she'd been this upset about things. If he'd known it was affecting her this much, he wouldn't have just wandered off to the horses so quickly. He didn't particularly care about the situation...nothing had changed, but now he did feel bad he hadn't really listened to to her earlier. Well he had....but it obviously wasn't enough. "Babe, it's alright" he sort of whispered after a bit, moving to run hyer a moment. "We're ok..... just try to take a deep breath. Focus on me, not your mind," he added, his fingers through her hair lightly.

The woman felt her muscles tense when the started running his hands through her hair. She knew she shouldn't be so worried about this sort of thing, it really should affect her... if anything was going to happen, it would have happened already. He was right, she knew that. Last time a rebellion had happened, she'd been shot, taken away from her family and they hadn't know if she was alive or not for... well, months. She still had the scars, and they still ached when she moved a certain way. They hadn't faded. That small, round and firm patch of skin on her side and the slight bump that was still on her head would always a reminder that she hadn't been able to protect herself. She hadn't been able to look after Sage, either. He'd lost his sight because Silas had been taken away. Hell, even Silas had stars across his back from those few days. He was young, so they'd faded, but they were still there. It was a reminder that no matter what happened, they really couldn't get out of anything unharmed. She felt herself choke up a little as she tried to gain ctontrol over her breathing, but it just got quicker, and soon her sight became distorted. She could hear him. She was trying to focus on Sage. Trying to hear his voice as he spoke to her, but it wasn't going in. She tried to take a long breath, but she just got more light headed. "I need to sit down," she murmured hurriedly, not wanting to pass out on Sage as they stood.

Sage pursed his lips when she tried, and failed, to calm down. She was trying, he could see that, but he could also clearly see she was terrified about the whole idea of something happening. He nodded when she said she should go sit down, and moved to help her move towards the couch. He was practically carrying her, but that was alright, he didn't mind. He settled down next to her, letting her lean against his chest. Hopefully his own breathing and heartbeat would help slow and regulate hers. That was really all he could do....hold her and do what he could to comfort her. That's what she'd always done for him. He hadn't needed her words so much as her presence....but he still babbled to her now, in hopes of her focusing on something.

The woman sort of stumbled towards the couch when he helped her, and just sort of collapsed against him. She wasn't sure why this was happening. Why it was so bad. She'd never had anything like this happen before and it was just so... weird. She tried to listen to Sages babbling, although it didn't do very much, so in turn she just moved to close her eyes, trying to line her breathing up with his. It was maybe only another five minutes before she'd managed to calm herself down, though by then her ears were ringing and her head was still light. She'd gone quiet, though, other then the occasional hitch in her breathing. It felt so stupid... this was probably the last thing she should be worried about.

Sage rested there for a bit, rocking her gently back and forth, just attempting to calm her. She began to relax after a bit of time though, and he pulled back slightly to press a kiss on her forehead. "Ok," he asked gently, moving a loose strand of hair off her face. He wasn't being judge or anything....not even pitying her at all ...but he just didn't want this for her. He wanted her to be happy, not freaking out about this whole situation. And he felt like he wasn't doing a very good job of it.

Mari just sort of laid there for a moment, her heart still pounding but she was... well, everything was quiet now. She nodded at his question, but didn't move much more than going to sit up, just a little. She felt so... pathetic was probably the right word. Nothing had even happened yet. She couldn't begin to imagine what she'd be like if someone actually got hurt. She let out a heavy breath before holding a hand to her forehead, breifly running it over her face before relaxing again. "Can we just go to bed," she asked, her voice nothing but a whisper.

Sage nodded when Mari seemed to have been calmed down, glad that it had happened quick enough. He didn't want her to be upset like that at all, so the quicker they got her calmer the better. When she asked if they could just go to bed, he hummed softly and nodded, moving to get up and help her up and up the stairs, sort of fussing over her and getting her settled in bed before she finally waved him off. He settled down next to her once that happened, just looping his arms around her again softly.
