Sage had nibbled at the food for a while until he'd finished it off, and then sort of just settled back down with Mari, sipping at the tea quietly as they just ...relaxed. It was nice, to just relax a little bit in the morning. He'd finished his tea soon enough, but Mari had gotten a book by then so he just nestled against her side, not really minding of she kept reading in her head or not. He just liked being with her. That was all he really needed.

Mari sat quietly after a little while, reading the book as Sage settled down next to her. She wrapped a arm around his shoulders and gently pulled him in, although kept on reading in her head. It was quiet... warm, and she felt safe. It was so crazy to think there had been a point where she really just didn't feel all that safe. In the castle, when she was living at home with her mother, or when she'd been kidnapped. She felt like she'd been living this way for her whole life. Her kids would get to live like this, always. She'd never put them in a situation where they didn't feel this safe, not ever. After a little while, she sighed and put the book down, and gave Sage a little squeeze. She looked over to him quietly, a small smile across her face. "Sage," she murmured again, softly. She sort of rolled onto her side, and gave him a gentle smile. "I really miss you sometimes, you know," she murmured. He was always around, and she always knew he was there, but sometimes when he had to get up early to see the horses, when he was late back in the house, even when he was locked up in his art room or sick or injured, she missed him. It was such a strange thought, but a very real one.

Sage nestled in happily when she wrapped her arm around him, sort of looking lazily at the book as she read it. He wasn't reading it...but sort of just zoning out a little bit as Mari flipped the pages slowly. He sort of peered up at her when she closed the book and hummed lightly, giving her a soft grin. "I miss you too," he mused lightly. He was busy a lot, especially recently, since he's been visiting Anya more often. But they were doing something once a week as a family now, and mornings like this were just...wonderful, really.

Mari smiled gently after a moment or two, and let out a soft sigh as she slipped under the duvet a little more, and wrapped her arms a little tighter around him. Her nails ran gently up and down his side, and she sort of shook her head at him. "I mean it," she murmured quietly. She loved their family, but recently things had just been so bland between the two of him. She missed her husband, even if they were out doing things together. Of course, they were going out once a week now to do something, but all that did was force them to spend time together. She wanted them all to enjoy their time together, yes, and when then all went out they'd all had a great time, but she still just felt like she didn't see her husband much. Things were slowing down all to much for her and she didn't like it.

Sage hummed softly when she moved to curl up, nodding along with a soft sigh. "Things have been a crazy combination of busy and slow at the same time recently," he hummed in thought, shaking his head slightly. "I guess I'd better just count my blessings that you've decided you can stand to wake up and stay in bed while I drag my brain into action," he teased her lightly.

Mari nodded in agreement, her eyes soft. Things had been busy... quiet, but busy all the same. She missed when they had loads going in for them, only a little bit, though. She sighed and looked over at him with a small smile. "At least we're not in the middle of a rebellion," she chuckled lightly. It had happened before, and it had almost ended so badly. She'd really missed him then. She chuckled at his next comment, and hummed an agreement. "I like cuddling up and messing around, you know. I'm not always super boring," she huffed, rolling her eyes.

Sage chuckled softly with a nod when she mentioned things were calm. Peaceful. "I don't think anything like that gonna happen," he mused. The town had been pretty peaceful....he hadn't seen any signs of anything bad happening. Though, he gave her a grin as she kept talking, pressing a light kiss to her cheek. "You're only boring when you keep me from lighting places on fire," he teased lightly.

Mari snorted lightly to him after a moment, sort of curling up under the blankets as she tried to get comfortable. "Please, you must get bored here," she murmured gently, her hand gently finding his arms and gently running her nails up and down it. She felt boring here, sometimes. Absolutely adored their lives, but she still felt like she didn't have enough going on. Well, she supposed that happened when you had a brain as busy as hers and nearly eleven years without a job. She looked back to Sage with a slightly wrinkled nose after a moment. "Sage, you can light anything but me and the kids on fire, you're just too much of a wimp to do it," she teased him.

Sage hummed softly and shrugged. "Sometimes," he mused. "I do miss the adventure of the streets. The adrenaline you got from the rush of a fight. Never knowing what would come next." Then he chuckled. "Though this life is pretty great in itself," he added fondly. He'd never give this up. "That's not true," he squeaked with a sort of laugh. "Id light lots of things on fire...I just know you might not appreciate it as much as me," he added with a chuckle.

Mari huffed nodded gently when he agreed that, yes, he got bored, but he wouldn't change anything. She did too. She supposed that was what happened when you settled down. "Well, at the moment with everything going on in the castle, we still don't know what's coming," she murmured quiely. "Only, this might affect us more," she then added. When he claimed he'd be quite the arsonist if he was given the chance, she rolled her eyes at him. "You're not brave enough," she repreated with a laugh. "You were scared to ask for a back rub, you're scared to light fires... what else..." she trailed off with a playful laugh.
