Kais head was being put into the rope just as he felt it being cut. He fell onto his side in pure exhaustion. It took him a moment to register her voice. But he opened his eyes as best he could through his black eyes and looked up. She looked like a fucking angel dropped right from heaven. He wouldnt be surprised if that's what actually happened. "...Camery?"

Camery tried to catch him as he fell, but collapsed to her knees as she tried ti fix her breathing. "Yeah, I'm here," she whispered, running her fingers through his hair. Her mother looked up at her, and her eyes widened as she stood up. The guards were edging closer again, and her heart started beating wildly. She held the glass up, squeezing it tightly as she pointed it, standing with one leg on each side of Kai protectively. She was exhausted, but she needed to look after him. Whatever they'd done to him, he needed to be cared for. "No! Don't you dare!" She yelled, tears already streaming from her eyes. They kept edging closer, and all she could think was to run at them, scream or hit them. But she couldn't. She couldn't leave Malakai's side. After a moment, she held the dirty glass to her neck, not even thinking twice about it. "One more step and I'll fucking do it!" She yelled. They paused for a moment, and her brows punched together. Her father nodded to them, and started to take a step forwards. "Camery..." he started, and Cam shook her head, pressing the glass to her neck until she felt blood running down her chest. "Stay. There." He paused, and told his guards to stand down. She watched for a moment, and when she was sure they wouldn't come near them, and bend down to Kai. "Can you get up? We need to go right now," she told him hurriedly.

Kai watched, he didn't want her to sacrifice herself just for him. He wasn't worth it, but he was too exhausted and too weak to speak. He looked up at her as she knelt down to him. He nodded, slowly starting to get up with her help. He had to lean on her as they had destroyed his right leg, you could see the bone in some places.

Camery sat silently next to him when he nodded, and wrapped an arm around him. She wanted to help patch him all up... but they needed to wait, at least for a little while. They needed to get him out of here. She had no doubt they'd try this again. She let him lean on her, and helped him hobble away from the crowds until they were deep in the woods, not too far from the boarder. She set him down next to a tree, needing a moment to breathe. "I'm so sorry," she cried, her tears watering as she sobbed quietly. They'd destroyed him. All of him. He'd just gotten better. He'd just proposed to her. Her family had tried to kill him. She was already out of breath, and she didn't have a clue how to deal with all this. "I love you so much," she whispered quietly, sort of bowing infront of him, begging for him to love her back, to forgive her for all of this.

Kai slumped down against the tree, exhausted. "Babe... it's okay... it's not your fault..." he coughed, barely able to speak. "I love you too..." he murmured, opening his swollen eyes. "Cam... your ring..."

Camery ket her head on the ground, sobbing wildly. This was all her fault.. They'd had a bad feeling but she said it would be fine anyway. In what world was this not her fault? She kept her forehead to the ground for a moment, her whole body shaking as she sobbed. "I didn't want any of this to happen," she whispered. "I tried to make them understand," she kept crying. She'd never expected that from her parents. She only lifted her head slightly when he mentioned the ring. She cried harder. "My dad took it," she whimpered. "I'm so sorry, I know it was your grandmothers, I tried to stop him, please I'm so sorry," she wailed, her heart pounding in her chest. They still needed to get him back... fix him up. Do everything they could to salvage his wings. Oh, his gorgeous wings. She couldn't believe what they'd done to him.

"Cam, please... stop crying..." he murmured, he hated when she cried. It only made him upset too. "It's okay... we're okay..." he whispered hoarsely. "Baby... we need to get back home... now..." he whispered just as a rustle came from the bushes not too far from here. The guards. ( Wht if her mom mails back the ring with a letter to Cam, apologizing for wht happened and trying to tell Cam that she tried to stop her father too? )

(Ohhhh, yeah, I like that!) Camery looked up at him when she heard the rustle from the bushes, her shoulders still shaking as she tried to dry her tears. She hated this. She hated what they'd done to him. Them not liking him was one thing... but this was cruel, to the both of them. Her brows pinched together, apologising again under her breath as she tried to pull herself together. It didn't do much, but he was right. They needed to get going. She forced herself off the ground and helped him up, trying her best to let him lean on her. He was twice her size, and it was admittedly very difficult, but they managed, right up until they got to the Night Kingdom. The guards took him from there, and the nurses were rushing around, trying to fix his leg once they'd gotten him into the ward. She tried to stop her crying the whole time, but seeing him like this just made it all worse. Seeing just how bad it was made it worse. She was sat just outside the ward, one of the nurses desperately trying to calm her down as she worked non stop on Malakai's legs and wings. Edited at February 15, 2025 04:39 PM by Belle

Kai fell asleep as soon as he knew they were both same back in the Night Kingdom. He was asleep all while the doctors worked on him. His wings were shredded, those nerves he loved her to touch up in the top corner of his wings were destroyed, his legs marred almost down to the bone, face bruised and swollen, and the rest of his skin whipped into strips. Eventually the head nurse came out and knelt down in front of Camery, explaining gently about what had happened and his injuries, but that he'd be okay, and his wings would heal.

Camery sat there for what seemed like hours until the head nurse came out. Her shoudlers were shaking violently, but when she said he would be okay, all she could comprehend doing was wrapping her arms tightly around the woman, thanking her over and over again. She couldn't stop crying, though. She felt awful. It was her fault this had happened... and god she would have been lucky that he even wanted to see her again, let alone forgive her and marry her. That thought made her chest tighten, another wave of tears rolling down her face, she'd tried to, but she couldn't stop them. "Is he awake?" She whispered once she'd pulled away, her eyes red and puffy as she tried to settle her breathing down.
