Ella listened to Sages explanation rather carefully, and it was both fuelling her fears and calming her fears simultaneously. "I was just curious I guess. It's something I always worried about before the coronation, I lost so much sleep over it. It's such a scary concept" she said, her voice quiet, so quiet she wasn't sure Sage would be able to hear over the rustling of the trees above. "It's not me who id be worried about if it happened, it's everyone else. Especially you" She spoke, moving out the way briefly of a man riding past on a horse, before rejoining Sages side. She wasn't wrong, she was a lot more worried about what could happen to him if the attacks did take place. But he did say it wasn't common, so she knew she should at least take his word for it.

Sage hummed in response and nodded slowly as she explained why she'd been nervous about it. "It's happened a couple times while I've been here. Most of the time it's all done and over with pretty quickly," he reassured her. He moved out of the man's way too, and then gave her a small grin. "I've lived through plenty of things like that. Don't you worry your pretty little head about me," he mused, half making a joke out of it to try and lighten the mood. Then he shrugged. "They can't exactly do anything to hurt me anyway," he added on softly. Well. So much for lightening the mood. But really....he was the cohort. The only things people had wanted to do with him was a, the same thing that he'd been doing to the old queen every second of his life, or b, kill him, which he figured was preferred than the first option. He wasn't going to add that to his comments though...that might have been a bit much.

rhis might be the stupidest question but was this a time where they like, invaded using planes and stuff or where they like, rode in on horseback with spears and stuff? sorry for the dumb ass question lol - "I don't think you can exactly stop me worrying about you but thanks for trying" Ella said playfully, licking up a piece of dirt as they carried on walking, picking another flower from the bushes they went past. "Well I can't say i'd know what to do if it happened so we can only hope it doesn't. Plus i'd rather you stayed alive really, you're very good company" she joked, looking up at the warm sun. The more they talked about it the more she worried, though. She believed into talking things into existence. Edited at October 26, 2023 04:16 PM by Wayside Wilds

(it's all good. I was thinking they just sort of storm the castle on food, but midevil era ish? So more horses than planes and stuff?) He hummed slightly and nodded. "Well, if it does happen you can be sure I'm not leaving your side," he noted with a shrug. "I'd rather it not happen too," he admitted. "The good thing is that most of the time, no one really...dies." That certainly was nice....if every time it happened, plenty of people were killed off, it would probably seem like a much bigger deal. But then again, where he grew up, everyone fought and killed eachother over food, shelter, that sort of thing because it was all so rare. So maybe he was just a bit biased.

okok that's good, i just got it confused with world war two for some odd reason) - "Im glad" Ella smiled sweetly, stopping at a small opening by surrounded by small trees. She scraped her hair out of her eyes slowly and turned to look at Sage, kicking up a piece of grass as she did so. As it got sunnier and the weather got warmer, her hair tended to turn a little lighter blonde, which fit well with how pale her skin seemed to be, even in the sun. She tucked it behind her ear and leant against the tree, picking at her dress. "What would you like to do? We can sit here for a while if you like? Or we could walk back?" She asked, her tone soft.

(lol, fair. My brain is dead rn too xD) Sage hummed lightly in thought and then shrugged. "It's up to you," he mused in response to her question about what he wanted to do. He squinted up at the sun, to try and see about what time it was. Judging by the sun's position, it was around on ein the afternnon by then, so he added "we could always get some lunch. It's about that time," to his previous comment. Unlike hers, his hair was still black...but the sun bounced off of it and darkened his skin a bit too. And he had to admit, his eyes looked cool in the sun as well...they were golen to begin with, but being in the sun just made everything look better. On everyone, he supposed...she was prettier in the sun too. Not that she was ugly or anything, but still.

understandable loll) - Ella pretended to roll her eyes at Sages comment, letting out a small laugh. "Oh it's always up to me huh?" she asked jokingly, turning herself around with an enthusiastic nod at his second comment. "I think that's a good idea. We could see the horses or something after?" she suggested, starting back off down the grassy trail they had been walking up. In the last couple of months she has finally figured out whose mare it exactly was- no one's. So, luckily she'd managed to snag her pretty much as her own, and spent as much time as everything would let her around the mare.

Sage gave her his normal crooked grin and chuckled. "Only when I'm too indecisive to make a decision," he joked lightly. Then he nodded enthusiastically when she mentioned the horses. "That sounds great to me," he chirped happily. They'd just entered the kitchen and gotten their food when he sort of saw some of the guards sprinting around. That was odd....he hadn't seen anything abnormal. Then again, they could just be drilling or something. He didnt know what was going on. But for now, he was hungry so he ignored them. It wasn't like they'd answer what was going on if he asked them, and besides, they were already out of sight.

Ella watched as they entered the hall, her eyes locking on the guards running around. It send a slight surge of worry through her- she was usually briefed on any drills beforehand, so she didn't panic. Still, she did her best to shake it off, and headed toward the private food room, shooting Sage a weak smile. Maybe they had just forgotten to tell her this time? It was bound to happen at some point. "Did they usually just run around strangely?" she asked with a slight smile, heading into the food room.

Sage sort of shrugged in response to her comment and grunted. "Occasionally," he admitted. "they're more muscle than brain," he sniggered quietly. He was a little bit uneasy too, but he didn't want to scare her or anything. It was probably nothing. Then again....the castle had been quiet for too long. It was too quiet now. He didn't like it very much. (Short I gotta run)
