He looked at her, quickly turning into an irritated expression as he figured it probably wasn't that. He didn't say anything, unsure of denying their courtship in mixed company. One of his hands on his hip, petting the face of this gelding, his face close to its, focused on the horse. Hearing her continuing to chatter on but he quiescently sat there. Til she asked another question. "I know your name do I not? What would you have me ask you?" He peered intently up, narrowing his eyes at her face.

Ariadne simply smiled serenely down at him for the slightly aggresive question. "Anything you like, my dear. Surely you want to know more about me than my name, don't you?" She asked, faking a pout and starting Luciana toward the door as Carter finished tacking up Lareo. "I just thought you would like to know that I am an open book for you." She shrugged teasingly, biting her lip to keep from smirking.

He tilted his head slightly, her being up high was adding to his feeling of her being in power at the moment. "Eventually I will find a question, will I not?" He cocked an eyebrow, looking away. He let go of the horse he was with as Carter left Lareo. He led the gelding out easily, he seemed calm as he had been before. "Me too then." He glanced up at her, and then slipped a moccasin in the stirrup and swung a leg over. Now he was as tall as usual compared to her. Smiling slightly. "Lead the way?" He gesture outside, getting situated in the saddle while his horse moved of its own accord, starting out of the barn into the- thankfully slightly lighter now- rain.. He seemed to have great balance on a horse though.

"I suppose. I apologize for being overeager, then." Ariadne shrugged lightly, making her way out of the barn as he got on. "Of course." She nodded simply, leading him out into the gentle hills outside the manor. She walked him parallel to the woods, taking in a deep breath of the rain. "Tell me about Imedal." She said simply, watching the terrain in front of her.

"No worries." He said wistfully, quietly urging Larry to come up beside her, then matched her pace. He was light on the reins. Glancing over at her when she finally started a conversation. He had a feeling she didn't exactly like the silence he was so comfortable with. "It is very different from here. Many more, bigger, taller and healthier forests. Lots of animals. My people live in tribes, no rock houses, they are cozy. You see far less rock in our mountains. It is big. I know it like the palm of my hand. If I had no duty to the council, I would go live in the mountain like an animal." He casually messed up a metaphor but it still kinda applied. He spoke of not having a job as he does with a smile on his face. Glancing over at her. Her hair was soaked, so was his. Now he was starting to feel the temperature drop. Still comfortable, but now he could feel the breeze.

Ariadne bristled at his forest comparison, turned her glare at him with a firm hint of warning. She settled back down and tried to realize he likely hadn't meant the "healthier" term as an insult. She raised her eyebrows at him for the animal comment, narrowing her eyes. "You are animal enough as it is." She commented idly, surveying him for a moment. "Your country sounds nice." She said simply, trying to picture it. "Your people- do they all possess magic? Or whatever it is you would like to deem the skill that wrought me unconscious." She said, bitterness lacing her voice vaguely. She stared straight ahead as they crested a hill, letting out a breath as water found it's way down and beneath her collar.

He on the other hand had used healthier as an adjective because this land was different than his and supported smaller plant life and hardier plants than trees are some days. It certainly wasn't for lack of rain though. He could feel mud moving out from under the hooves of his horse in certain spots of their path that didn't have grass. He glanced over at her as she started talking, trying to remain calm, his horse wasn't. "I would not call it magic." He said evenly, ignoring her unsavory understone. "It is- have you heard the stories of sirens? They sing men to their deaths? It is similar enough." He tried to find words to explain, finding it good enough. still trying to brush her less than pleasant tone.

Ariadne tilted he rhead at his answer, listening intently. She refrained from a scoff. "Ah, yes, that's so much better than magic." She said sarcastically. "But you did not answer my question. Can all of your people-?" She paused briefly as a great stroke of thunder cleaved through the sky, causing Luciana to stop and pull into a half rear. She sat it easily, stroking the mare and cooing to her in Epirian as she stamped her hooves against the ground.

He glared over at her, getting frustrated again. He opened his mouth to reply to her question, which he had misheard- when the thunder broke through the sky. His horse on the other hand, didn't take it quite so well. Rearing up completely, pawing and shrieking, but he came down and took off before the Elf even had a chance to calm him. Galloping down the hill. It didn't take long before the gelding started bucking. His rider of course wouldn't be able to hang on forever. Pretty soon the elf to hit the ground. It couldn't have been easy to see what happened but the gelding disappeared and ended up partially in some mud and the rest of him in the brush. With the wind knocked out of him, he was drenched in mud. He had a knee pulled up, rolling slightly over, coughing quietly. Edited at May 5, 2024 11:48 PM by Prismatic Cove
