Eris slid back into a walk, cradling the cat close to her chest and taking in a few deep breaths, coughing when the breath got in too deep. She paused at the end of the alley, where she could easily see the light of the street. She whipped around when her name was called, searching the darkness until she found her Elven companion. "I'm here, Kin." She rasped, wiping at the blood still around her mouth. She spat it out again on the ground beside her, wrinkling ehr nose at the lasting smell. There was a red mark on one half of her face, and a quickly developing bruise around her throat. It was on it's way to purple already. "Are you... okay?" She asked warily, stroking the cat idly.

Kin hesitated slightly as she shorted his name, but it didn't stop him. He fixed on where her voice came from he held his hand out for the wall and brushed against it til he reached her, squatting down. "Huh? Yeah, 'm alright." He dismissed her concern quickly.

He blinked his foggy eyes away. His right hand rested in his lap, twitching. "Are you?" He peered at her new wounds, the unnatural colors becoming clearer. He held his slightly shaking hand out to see if the cat would like him, letting it smell him.

Eris looked over him as he came closer, narrowing her eyes at his response. "...liar." She murmured, scratching her kitty behind the ears. He purred softly in her arms, light blue eyes drifting closed. "I'm alive." She rasped quietly, watching him reach his fingers out to pet her new friend. She shifted, her legs shaking slightly under her weight, as she tried to make it easier for him to pet the cat.

The little thing tilted his head into the scratches, purring softly. "What... did the stable woman ask about me?" She asked randomly, leaning back against the alley wall and taking in a few ragged breaths as she peered down at him.

Kin smiled as she moved the cat for him. He could tell it was hard for her, so he pet the cat, gently scratching under its chin. He glanced around, eyeing the alleyway as he stood back up. Feeling a lot more steady. He looked back down at her.

"She wanted to know if you were dangerous and why I was traveling with you." He explained simply, trying to keep an even expression. His hand finally held still when he offered a hand to help her up.

The cat blinked slowly at the attention, tilting his head into the scratches. "Ah. How kind of you to inform her." She drawled sarcastically, watching the cat leap out of her arms. He brushed against her legs, winding between them, and then slinked off into the shadows. She let out a sigh and look up to see his hand in front of her face. She raised her hand and took his, slowly, painfully pulling herself up. "The dog was your doing, yes? The illusion?" She asked quietly, wobbling dangerously on her feet.

Kin gave her a look, confused. "I didn't tell her that.. in those words." He said as if it was out of the question. He helped pull her up with a slow and firm grip. He rubbed the hand he touched the wall with off onto his pants and turned his head to watch where the cat went.

His attention turned back to her as she questioned. "It sure was." His eyebrows bumped, a prideful smirk crossing his face as he stepped back, ready to start walking again. He knew she wasn't doing well but he didn't want to offer to help, she'd likely refuse it anyway.

He looked down at his makeshift map. It was a little smudged but he could still tell where they needed to go. He adjusted his bag slightly. Chuffed that they would be getting beds.

Eris furrowed her brows at his answer. "What did you say, then?" She asked, taking a breath and moving to slowly start walking. The adrenaline had drained from her system and she was just... tired. So tired. And there was so much pain- new pain basically everywhere. Her scalp felt like it was about to fall off from the braid pulling. "Didn't know you had that in you." She murmured, moving to take a step and nearly crying out at the pain. She lifted her bed leg just slightly, so her foot didnt touch the ground, and bit her lip as she waited to move.

"That you were my wife." Kin grinned at her, brightly. For the first time, turning to see her reaction. It faded slightly since it was getting worse. He stepped back and reached into bag.

He glared at her, she didn't share how proud he was of that hallucination. "I have a lot of secrets, ma'am." He said, lightheartedly as he drew the bag out. These were more janky than she was likely used to. Powdered herbs in droplets of hardened honey-like. He dropped two into his hand.

"You should probably take these." He shut the pouch carefully and placed them in her hand. "They're sweet." He said.

"Do you want to wait here til they start helping?" He offered quietly.

Eris blinked at him for a moment for his answer, and for the first time, an actual smile spread across her lips. A soft laugh left her, and it hurt, but she refused to cough. "She believed you?" She snickered, taking a deep breath after. "I'm sure you do." She said sarcastically, reaching up to gently feel the darkening bruise around her neck. She winced and glanced at him as she heard the rustling of a bag.

She reached gently for them as he pulled them out, taking them and popping them into her mouth without a second look. She blinked for a moment.

They were sweet. Like candy, almost. She shook her head at his offer. "I want to go sleep. Will you..." She paused, clearing her throat as if the words were hard to say. "...help me?" She asked quietly.
