Celeste gave him a sad look, before kissing his cheek. "Are you ever gonna tell her?"

Sage sighed softly and shrugged. "When she's older, maybe ...she wouldn't be able to understand it now," he pointed out, brows furrowing slightly in thought. "But I don't know much about what happened either," he admitted. He only knew Amy had been cruel, didn't want a son, and went off with him, and his scent ended at a river. He could guess, but he just didn't know.

Celeste nodded. "...I know what happened..." he told him slowly. She'd been hunting Amy when it happened and she just couldn't.

Sage glanced over at her when she spoke, clearly surprised. "You do," he sort of sputtered after a moment, sinking into the couch with a sort of shocked expression lingering on his face. He wasn't upset with her or anything, of course, but it was a lot to take in. Did he really want to know? He sort of just sat there for a moment before his jaw hardened, muscles jumping as he grit his teeth together. "What did she do to my son," he asked quietly. It was a definite shift, he supposed, from fragile shock to a cold hardness that had settled in his bones.

Sage heasitated for a second, but nodded, glancing over at her. "I think I need to," he noted softly. It sucked either way, and still hurt more than he ever let on. But the closure was something...at least he'd know for sure.

Celeste nodded. "...She brought him down to the river. She... she cut him, a thousand tiny cuts, and dumped him into the river. He was to bleed out, but as soon as she left I couldn't handle it. When I got to him, he was too far gone to save, so I ended his suffering for him...." he voice faded. "It was quick and clean, he wasn't in pain," she whispered, looking up at him.

Sage felt the blood drain from his face as Celeste explained what had happened. He'd expected soemthing cruel, but not quite that cruel....the boy had to have been terrified, and in pain. He felt sick to his stomach thinking abotu how he must have felt. He just nodded dumbly when she said she'd done what she could, offering her small smile. "thank you," he noted quietly, glad she'd been able to make his last moments peaceful at least. Even so, he'd sunk into the couch, face pale as he tried to process it all. He wasn't upset with celeste or anything....she had done the right thing. But the rest of it was...a lot.

"Im sorry..." she whispered gently.

Sage sort of blinked when she spoke up, coming out of his thoughts and nodding, leaning into her with a heavy breath. "I expected her to some something terrible ...but I guess there's no preparing yourself we'll enough for it," he thought out loud, tightening his hold on the baby in his arms absentmindedly.
