Zephyr's eyebrows creased slightly at her worried look. He guessed it was her turn to be worried. And now he had to worry about tomorrow. "It was REALLY lucky. I can't believe I made it." He shook his head with a small smile. "But thank you." He added, then blew out a slow breath. "I'll see you tomorrow then- meet you there." Zeph said quietly, turning and going back. He drove home, had his parents congratulate him, then went upstairs and fell asleep quickly. In the morning he scrambled out of bed quickly, almost quivering out of nervousness. How was this going to go. Still, he didn't have to rush- it started later. He went down for breakfast, watched some TV, and passed the time trying to calm down. When the time crept closer he pulled on the nice trousers he had bought. Black, of course. Then a nice dress shirt, crisp dark blue. Zeph brushed through his thick hair, staring at himself in the mirror for a moment. Thankfully he didn't look like a train wreck. The scar on his face did make him look... a little older, in a way, though. Or more mature. He couldn't tell. He shook his head slightly and slipped into black boots he had even shined, so he put some effort into this. Zephyr then drove to the spot the prom was at.

Sophia smiled "I'm glad it went well" after their conversation, she drove home. She stayed up doing some homework before tossing her books into the corner of her room and falling asleep Saturday was here and Sophia was terrified. She had never been to a prom before! Her mother pulled her hair into a beautiful half up, the bottom half of her hair curled nicely while the top half was wrapped in such a way that it hid the hair tie and marked it look like her hair was keeping it all together. She didn't put a touch of makeup on because her cheeks were naturally rosy. She pulled on her dress within the last thirty minutes of dressing time she had planned. The navy blue dress clung to her body like plastic wrap. A bit of sparkle had been lightly applied at the top of the dress and it seemed to fade as it fell. It was sleeveless and one of her biggest fears was that it would fall, but it was too tight to fall. She looked down. A slit rose to the top of her knee. Sophia walked downstairs and outside just as Blake did. He looked nice, but she didn't focus on him. She got in her car and tried to start it. It wouldn't start. After a few minutes of persuasion, she gave up. Blake walked up. "I'll drive you. No talking necessary " Sophia nodded and he drove her to a large building with a banner that said prom hanging outside.

Zephyr was nervous at first, but every second that went by as he was driving proved to him he was a little afraid too. He had only ever gone to 2 proms, both with Lydia because they got together two years ago. He was still marveling at how they stayed together for 2 years. It didn't matter. The point was, he already had a girlfriend at those, and Sophia was LITERALLY anything but that. Zephyr wasn't even 100 percent sure they were friends. They had just met roughly a week ago. He didn't know how she'd act, or if she would take one look at him laugh and leave, or if she would realize for some reason she liked Blake back and poof Zephyr would be alone AGAIN. Even when he was with Lydia he always felt alone. Sophia was the first person that had ever made him feel like an equal. Zephyr tried to keep from sweating when he parked. He sucked in a deep breath before silently berating himself. He was being such a baby. Just get out and walk in. Zephyr stood out of the truck and walked into the building, which was a little too crowded for his liking, so he tentatively sidled to the back and watched for Sophia.

Blake stood outside waiting for someone. Whom? Sophia had no clue but she didn't mind. She stepped out of the car and walked into the building. She glanced around, her eyes landing on almost every person through the dark building. Her dark dress looked black unless the light flashed around. She saw Blake walk in behind her, so she darted to a wall next to some food.

Zephyr's dark blue eyes danced with dark color as the place was illuminated in a dark blue glow. He watched the crowd, finally noticing Sophia come in. She darted to a back wall, so he slipped over there too, his eyes widening a little as he got closer. Her dress was absolutely stunning, and her hair looked like it had been done for a royal ball. Compared, he looked like a street rat. "Wow... if you don't mind me saying, I apologize a lot if you do, you look great. In a good way." He commented, glancing away with a slight mental fall. He sucked at this. His gaze quickly caught Lydia's, who looked stunning as always in a silver dress that seemed to demand attention, with a slightly disheveled Robert at her side. Robert was never one for looking good. In Zeph's opinion, too stupid to even try, but he had been taught to believe everyone had a brain and some people just decided not to use it. Lydia was glaring like normal, but- her gaze was almost... jealous? Zephyr quickly looked away with a small shake of his head.

Sophia smiled at Zephyr when he came to her side "you found me" she said before he started speaking. "Oh... thank you. Once in a lifetime thing. Don't get used to it" she joked lightly before his gaze left her. She followed it to find Lydia glaring at them. She shrunk against the wall with a huff when Blake's eyes crossed the room. Once it landed on her, he gulped. Sophia focused on Zephyr. She ignored Blake because she didn't even feel anything for Blake. As Sophia looked at Zephyr, butterflies took off in her stomach. Was she starting to have feelings for him? No. She couldn't. He wouldn't like her. He wouldn't.

"You stick out." He half-joked, chuckling slightly at her words. "Yeaaahhh, I'm just glad I don't have to wear a dress. This scratchy shirt is bad enough. And a tie. Eugh." Zephyr shook his head slightly and made a face. He HATED dressing up, in any form. Lydia had stopped looking at them, but he was worried she would try to make a scene. His fears were quickly confirmed when she strode over. - Lydia stalked over to Zephyr and Sophia, her gaze haughty and yet slightly pleading at the same time. "Oh Zephyr, fancy seeing you here." She said cheerfully. "Now, I was wondering. We were together for 2 whole years, and I just KNOW you don't like this girl in the slightest. Do you even know her name?" A familiar sneer came onto Lydia's face. "In any case, could we get back together, sweetie? This time apart has been KILLING me. You made the wrong choice when You broke up with me, and I'm giving you a chance to make it right." She purred. - Zephyr's eyes widened more ad more as Lydia spoke, until he thought his eyeballs were going to pop out. HOW could she be saying this!? He was speechless for a moment before he drew up to his full eyes and set his face in a cold glare that could probably freeze metal. "Lydia, her name is SOPHIA, and she is TEN THOUSAND times better then you ever were. I've spent one week with her and it has made me happier than a lifetime with your sorry face. If you don't remember right, cough cough dimensia so soon? YOU broke up with ME while screaming insults and stomping your feet like a 3 year old. So, how should I put this so you can understand? NOOOO. Here's another hint. It would be an insult to all the idiots out there if I called you one. Another another hint? Sure, you're my sun- now get 93 million miles away from here." He stated firmly, his gaze steely. - It was Lydia's time for her eyes to grow wide. Even wider than Zephyr's. She gasped at the end, a squeaking sound. "What- how- how could you- how could you turn me down?" She sputtered. Robert came up that instant. "You lied, Lydia! I'm not being anywhere near you anymore!" He huffed, taking off. Lydia gaped. "what- what- what- this isn't fair! UGH! You are so mean!" She stomped her foot again with a fit of anger and took off. - Zephyr's face practically crumbled as soon as she left. He sagged up against the wall and put his head in his hands with a groan. "I'm so sorry Sophia- I should've never dragged you into this stupid mess of a life I have.."

Sophia looked like she was about to cry as Lydia spoke. It was when Zephyr spoke up that her stomach flipped. "Don't apologize Zephyr... I just need to know... was everything you said about me true?" Her eyes searched his face as best she could in the dim light. "Because if they aren't... well I don't know. We'll just go back to how it was before she came up here. If it is all true... I don't know. I would have to think..." hee voice trailed off

Zephyr hated doing that, but he wasn't going to get beat upon by Lydia any longer. He wasn't one to stand down. When Sophia spoke he glanced up, his face flashing with a couple different emotions. Surprise she was actually listening after Lydia's cruel words. Embarrassment that she caught all that. And a slightly softer look. Something more unrecognizable. "Yes. Everything I said was true. You are a much kinder more amazing person than her in every single way shape and form and I'd rather spend a million years with you than one second with her." He answered quietly, though there was no regret in his voice. "You're lucky, you know, in a way. For one to have friends that care about you and support you, but also even with Blake. Even if you don't like him, he's still a great guy and I'm guessing he'll support you in any decision you make, sooner or later." He smiled sadly, like he was wishing he had that. He was, in his opinion, young and stupid when he met Lydia, and it had been a horrible idea to even go near her. He never had paid attention to her personality. He was too busy stuck on her looks. Zephyr had learned a very valuable lesson from that. One he'd been told many times, but now would never forget.

Tears pricked at the back of Sophia's eyes. "Can I hug you or is that something your not fond of?" She asked. She had always tried to look, dress, and sometimes every act like Lydia. Almost everyone did at some point. She wanted to in eighth grade. Oh how badly she wanted to be as popular as Lydia. Everyone told her that she could never be as good as her and she dropped from a happy joyful person so someone who only had one friend. Now she had two friends and deep down she was hoping Zephyr could be the third.
