"that's terrible" she mumbled, staring at the ground again. She looked at the window in the room across the hall, the halls getting dim. "It's getting dark" she said softly, her voice soft and queit

Sage simply shrugged and sighed after a moment. "Sometimes life gets the best of us," he murmured. "But it's all we can keep taking it one step at a time sometimes," he added with a shrug. He was silent for a while before she spoke up again and he nodded. "It's getting late," he noted. "Why don't you go and get some rest," he suggested gently.

Florida nodded a little, though she didn't want to leave him. His presence was comforting and she needed as much comfort as she could get. She couldn't muster enough power to stand up and move, so she just slumped down and leaned her head against the back of the chair. Flo sighed and yawned, looking away, her gaze lingering down the hall

Sage chuckled softly when the girl agreed with bed but sort of just stayed where she was at. "If you sleep there your neck will hate you forever, trust me," he noted lightly before getting up and holding his hands out to her. "come on, let's get you to a bed," he mused softly. "I'll stay if you don't want to be alone," he added with a shrug.

Flo sniffled and placed her small hands in his. "Okay" she looked at him when he said he could stay with her. "You'd do that?" she asked, letting go of him and following him, Her brain was fogged up and she didn't know where in the hospital they were at

Sage tugged her gently to her feet and then steadied her, placing his hands gently on her shoulders as he guided her over to a room and onto a bed. "Sure," he mused. "Sometimes you just....need to know someone else is there," he added with a shrug. He sat her down on the bed and then looked around the otherwise empty room. 'ill bring in another bed," he said after a moment.

She shuffled along, her eyes downcast. She sat down then watched him leave. Flo sat in the silence then laid down on her side. She watched the shy out the window and took deep, slow breaths to keep from crying again

Sage was only gone for a few minutes. He came back soon enough, tugging a bed along with him and set it up by the girls mattress. Then he turned the light off and moved to crawl up onto it, murmuring a quiet goodnight to Florida.

While Sage was gone, the power flickered back on and Flo held back the tears. Had it not turned off, her best friend could have still been alive. She sniffled. "night" she said then added a "sorry" s few seconds later

Sage had half jumped when the power turned on and peeked down that hall. Only a few rooms were lit...the generator must be working here and there. He sighed and then moved to just....go to sleep."night," he mused in response to the girl, humming softly in response to her apology. "It's alright," he added softly.
