Rose intertwined her fingers with Caden's, worried that a false hope would come over her, as it had hours ago, and he'd die again all the same

Rather,he did'nt die.He came back.His chest started rising and falling normally again,heart rate climbing to normal.His fingers twitched again,eyelids fluttering,wanting to open but not able to.

Rose watched in astonishment, waiting for Caden to open his eyes and look at her again after what felt like an eternity of them being closed

He gave up on opening his eyes,just focusing on taking in the surroundings through feel and sense.Hospital room,Rose to his left,holding his hand,he'd been pronounced dead,twice in his life,but was alive.And as of now,that's all that mattered.

"Caden?" She asked quietly, hoping she wouldn't jinx it

He did'nt respond.Not having the energy to,anyways.Still,his body forced everything on,Caden slightly wincing as his calf cramped,indicating signs of the poison anyways.

Rose's eyes widened and she sat down while still holding his hand. She watched him and waited, patient

His veins pulsed,a light sweat returning.The first symptom of aftershock for the poison,sweating and cramping.With veins bulging and visible muscle cramps all over,yes,he was miserable.Yes,he was happy to be alive.

Rose watched and wiped away a bit of sweat, a sign he really was alive

Hours,if not days passed.Caden still in the coma.On day three in the hospital,his eyes fluttered open weakly,mouth aswell. "Rose?" He croaked,almost silent,eyes shutting as the coma pulled him back under.
