Anya nodded, looking down. She knew they all had it hard - but she hadn't a clue that they would have their family taken away from them. It was something she would never know, but she could see that it pained Sage just to think about losing his sister. He had just come so close actually losing her, so it was understandable that he was on edge. It was scary to look at - to be in the center of it must have been awful. Anya looked thoughtful for a moment. Maybe it would be better if she left him alone - only to have himself and Lizzie to worry about for a while. "Sage, do you need me to go?" She murmured softly.

He shook his head. "No, you can stay, it's fine. Besides, I'd rather you not be out there alone after you yelled at them." He glanced over at Lizzie, who was calm by now and he relaxed slightly.

Anya nodded, looking around the place. She supposed he was right. She wouldn't hold up so well if she ran into them. Yet, she didn't know what to do with herself. She didn't think either of them would appreciate her blabbering. The girl wandered toward one of the windows, peering out to see if they were still lingering. Of course, they were. "You know," She started quietly, "that could have ended really bad." She grumbled as she made her way back to her seat, "You're going to end up getting hurt one day." The girl murmured, stating the obvious in an attempt to make some form of conversation.

Sage snorted. "Like I'm not already hurt," he sighed sarcastically. "I'll be fine, really. I'll be sore for a few days and then it'll all be over. I might have a headache for a bit." He shrugged. "I know how to take a hit." He looked over at Anya and gave her a slight smile. "And you're allowed to freak out a bit too. It's not every day you see something like that "

Anya rolled her eyes, "I mean really hurt." She grumbled slightly. She squinted her eyes at him for a moment. Was he giving her permission to freak? She found herself amused by the thought. Either way, she already was freaking out. Just trying to hold it in. Obviously, she wasn't doing a good job. "I wasn't overly worried until I saw you two," She murmured thoughtfully, "I mean, I still would have stopped it," Anya added swiftly as she furrowed her brows, "But I got scared my guide was going to be out of action for a while," She teased dimly. Sage chuckled at that remark and shrugged. "Don't worry, your guide doesn't plan on getting himself killed anytime soon." The corner of his mouth turned up in a smile. "Thanks though. It would have been much worse if you hadn't been there or interviewed." He sat back in his chair. "Told you that you were brave." Edited at July 30, 2022 06:29 PM by NightClan

Anya felt a thin smile crawl its way onto her face, "Mhm... The bravest." She scoffed, fiddling with her nails as a her cheeks flushed up. Anya was quite aquatinted with polite coments and wanting compliments. It was an odity in itself that her cheeks heated up at all, though it was likely because she knew it was because Sage didn't want anything. "So much for exploring." She noted with a chuckle, shaking her head slightly. The girl assumed she would be cutting it close with getting back again, depending on how long the traders were about.

Sage sighed. "Yeah, I don't think tonight is the best night for that. Tomorrow we can screw around." He snorted out a laugh and grinned. "We probably won't die," he joked. Then he sombered up. "But seriously, that was brave. Did you see anyone else helping us?" He was suddenly shy and looked away with a blush growing on his face. He was hoping that the dirt on his face hid the color in his cheeks as he felt his face heat up.

Anyas smile widened slightly. "What was brave was how you looked after Lizzie. Sage, I haven't heared of anyone caring about their siblings as much as you do." She looked thoughtful for a moment, "You didn't budge an inch when I got there. There was a moment where I thought they might have killed you." Anya murmured quietly before a small chuckle arose from her throat. "But you're too tough for that, right?" She teased softly. She glanced up at him from her nails, her smile turning into a slight smirk as he looked away.

Sage glanced over at Lizzie and lifted a shoulder in a shrug. "She's all I've got in this world. There's no way they're going to take her from me. Not while I'm still here." He sighed and put his head in his hands. "She's still so young and full of hope. Innocent. I want to keep her that way. I don't want her to end up like me." He knew very well that they would have killed him if Anya hadn't shown up, and he also knew that was the only way they would get him to budge. He was going to protect his little sister, no matter what. And if one of them was going to die, he would much rather it be him than her.
