Max walked out the front door right as she pulled away, seeing it was her and finding himself longing for the woman. He sighed, tossing the sweatshirt inside as he went to his car.

He didn't need her, didn't miss her. He was only here for the education then he was gone. Yeah right, whatever. Max focused back on the professor, dotting down notes.

Max packed up quietly and slipped out. Emery had been the first to know, she always was the first. She'd noticed all his habits, more bottles turning empty and replaced.

Emery sighed, taking a sip of her coffee and setting it down. "I don't know why he did it, he's just gotten worse since you left though I don't blame you for leaving. He'd finally gotten into a healthy relationship after years of toxic ones, I don't know why he'd just toss it down the drain."=
