"Yes, princess," he whispered, going back into bodyguard mode, and following her out the door and to the palace. His steps were heavy all the way up from the tavern to her room. When they got there, his head was still down, heart heavy. Malakai opened the door for her and held it open, refusing to look her in the eye. He entered with her, keeping a watchful eye on the sunset. Once he was sure she was okay, he caught her eye. "Goodbye princess... I'll see you tomorrow..." he whispered, eyes full of longing. Kai didn't want to leave her, not tonight, not ever. |

She settled in her room, her eyes wide as she watched him say goodbye to her. She shook her head and wandered over to him, wrapping her arms firmly around him. "Goodnight," she whispered. "Love you,"'she muttered softly, her eyes soft as she moved to shut the door and wander off to get ready for bed. She didn't want to leave him upset, and she did still love him. |
