Eventually, Luca moved down to his office, starting on some paperwork at his desk to distract himself.

As the day went on, her father's condition only got worse and Laurel rarely left his side out of fear that the nurses wouldn't catch something in time to help him. She stayed until visiting hours were over and she was forced to head back home. Thankfully, when that time came they'd had him stabilized for a couple of hours, but it didn't ease her mind any. He was in a significantly worse state and she didn't know what to do. Regardless, she trudged up to the penthouse and into her room so she could shower and ready herself for work that night, if she could even keep herself together.

Around 9, Luca finished up his work and went up to his penthouse.

When 9 rolled around, Laurel entered Luca's room in nothing but his t-shirt and underwear. She was a little more withdrawn and distant than usual upon first glance, though she tried to hide it behind one of her typical sweet smiles. No sob stories. She had to work to pay the bills so that her father could get the help he needed.

Luca was sitting on his bed, in his sweats, scrolling through his phone. "Hey," he greeted her softly as she entered, putting his phone down. He didn't catch her change, yet though.

Laurel managed a weak smile when he greeted her. "Hi.." she murmured as she climbed into the bed next him. She didn't initiate touching him like she usually did lately.

Luca could tell something was up. She wasn't her usual, bubbly self, which made him concerned. "Hey, what's wrong?"

Laurel bit down on the inside of her cheek and shook her head. She scooted closer and dipped her head to hide in the crook of his neck. "Nothing.. It was just a long day," she said softly, fighting to keep her voice steady.

"Laur, I can tell you're upset," he hugged her, wrappjng his arms around her. "Whats going on?"

Laurel broke down the moment he wrapped his arms around her. A quiet sob wracked through her body as she curled into him, sinking into his embrace. "M-My dad... He's getting a lot worse a-and they don't know if he's going to get better this time," she choked out as she cried.
