Sage chuckled and set the cards down to bring the box of chess over to where Luther was sitting down and started to set the pieces up. Luther helped too, and it was set up in no time. Sage shrugged when Luther told him to go first and made his move. Hopefully, the boy was good at the game, and he would have a bit of competition. Though, his chess pretty much reflected his fighting style....run into danger without thinking. Quick moves, some risks, some trades...but he usually won, just as he usually won real fights. It worked out for him pretty well, he supposed. But it was too early in the game to tell how it would go. "your turn," he chuckled, once he'd moved his pawn, and sat back to let the game move on a bit.

Luther watched for a moment as Sage made his move before pouting and moving his pawn. Luther wasn't smart... well, not in the typical sense. He found people rather difficult to read, and the likes of academics were hard, but he was generally quite good with games and things like that. He was a bit slow, but he wasn't awful. If he was enjoying himself, and found something interesting then he was more likely to be better at it... the same for a lot of people, he supposed. They went back and fourth between turns, and after a short while, they each had about a quarter of one another's pawns, and, admittedly, they'd started getting a little competitive... though, it was hard to take it seriously when they were trying to whisper yell at each other.

Sage was having a good time...Luther was pretty good at the game. Though, that just made the two of them more competitive, and whoever lost would probably demand some for of rematch. Though, he had a feeling the game would take a while..they were both good, so really it would take long enough to fry both of their brains by the end of the game itself. It was a bit comical to be competitive quietly though, and Sage found himself holding back laughter whenever they started yelling at eachother. Well, whisper yelling...more like stage whispering volume than anything. But it was enjoyable, he could admit that.

Luther was rather enjoying this little match of theirs, but he also had the attention span of a nat... which wasn't helpful when he was against Sage, who still seemed to be going strong. That was annoying for him, because after about fifteen minutes his brain was fried. When it was his go, he just kind of stared at the board before groaning and flopping back on the couch, "you win," he complained, though he still kind of whisper shouted it. It was almost surprising that the girl hadn't woken up yet, if he was being honest... but they were enjoying themselves.

Sage chuckled when Luther flopped backwards...he'd never admit defeat, though he had to admit the boy had an attention span much smaller than his body. As in, practically nothing. But they'd had fun, and he was amused by the boy's admit of defeat when he still had some good pieces. Not that he was complaining. "Ha," he crowed, before he remembered the girl sleeping behind him and slapped his hand over his mouth. "Whoops," he muttered with a slight chuckle, glancing over his shoulder at the girl to see what had happened.

Luther pouted slightly at the boys crow of victory, though that turned into a look of pure and utter fear when Sages head turned to look at Anya. In truth, Luther has almost forgotten the girl was there. She'd been so quiet... and by god if she woke up in rage the he'd probably have to run and leave Sage as a diversion. Though, much to his surprise, the girl just let out a small type of unintentional squeak as she gave a little stretch and curled up a bit more as her eyes fluttered open. Luther just grinned at her, quietly clapping his hands once he was sure she was awake. "Awe you're so cute," he teased, making a baby voice at the girl. Anya, though didn't look so pleased with his little tease and instead reached around on the side table for her book and throwing it blindly at the boy, though it missed his head by millimetres. "And you belong in the ground," she growled before pulling the blankets up to keep warm.

Sage was slightly amused by the girl's response to being woken up, and would have teased her, though Luther beat him to it. It was probably a good thing, since the girl seemed to not take it so well. "Oooo you made her maaad," he sang to Luther in a somewhat joking manner. He could tease the other boy and Anya at the same time...which, maybe he should have not teased the girl more, but he had a feeling she wasn't going to try and decapitate him with a book. Though, if she did, he could move to the side much quicker than Luther.

Luther looked at the boy wide eyed for a moment as he continued to tease, and his gaze one became more terrified when he saw the girl feel around on the side table again with her eyes closed... but, much to Sages luck, she was out of throwing books. She just groaned before tucking her head into the chair before muttering, though her voice was soft with sleep, "and you get get in the ground with him... with the worms," she hissed before going quiet again... there were a few moments of silence in the room before Luther's head slowly turned to Sage. "Don't make any sudden movements..." he whispered, though loud enough for the boy to hear. "She might be hostile," he giggled childishly.

Sage kept a wary eye on the girl as she felt around, though luckily she couldn't find any other books to chuck at them. It was well worth the insult, and he couldn't help but let out a snicker when she did tell him off. Then he laughed again when Luther continued to tease, nodding in agreement and looking back at the girl."maybe just a bit," he hummed. "But I think I'd like to meet some worms. Don't you think that would be great? They'd make nice friends, ya know," he giggled. No doubt the girl would say or do something else to retaliate, but it would all be well worth it.
