Ella politely listened and responded to everything said to her, usually with one word answers or small smiles and nods, as she had been taught to do. The place seemed huge, and she was beginning to get tired about halfway through, due to the fact she had gotten virtually no sleep the night before. After they had finally finished the tour she stood, with her hands clasped in front of her, looking around at the place. Her eyes caught the guy that had been pretty much dragged around with them, and flashed a very quick, small smile at him though her head turned away rather fast. Half out of shyness, half down to mistrust. And maybe slightly because he looked like he wanted to be anywhere else but there. She took a deep breath and looked back to the strange advisor man, adjusting her dress slightly. "So..is that all?" She asked, her voice coming out soft though her strong posh accent collided well with that. As soft as her voice was, she was aware how rude it was coming across. And it was just as well, really.

Sage couldn't help the slight smile that twitched on his face when the girl sort of snapped at the old man. Though, it faded pretty quickly, given the fact that it meant they'd now be alone in the room, and he was admittedly terrified of what might happen. How she'd react, and all that. What she wanted him to do. When she wanted him to do it. That sort of thing. The advisor had bid the queen goodnight and strode away by then, so he sort of just slid down into a sitting position in his corner. Alibet it was a sitting position he could get out of easily in case of....well, he wasn't sure what. But he was definitely nervous.

After the strange man had left, Ella's previous confidence had withered away, being replaced with nerves and awkwardness. She sat herself down on the edge of a chair, fiddling with her dress as she always did when she was anxious, scraping her light blonde hair away from her face. It had been a good five minutes before she could think of a single word to say, and of course, it was the most simple thing she could think of. "So what are you called?" She asked, her tone coming off flat as usual, though her expression was neutral. "And why are you cowering away over there? I won't bite, you know." Ella added, though she didn't expect him to move. If anything, the distance he decided to keep was the better choice.

Sage half jumped when the girl had spoken, heart speeding up a million miles an hour. It was more just nerves than anything...she hadn't exactly done anything to warrent the tiny movement. Though, he supposed old habits also came to play a little bit. For the most part, the old queen's voice came with some kind of blow or forceful move. He was rather surprised when she asked what he was called, though he made a slight face of both a nervous grin and also a heasitant looking face, sort of asking her not to hit him if he responded. Because that happened often enough before. "My name or what everyone calls me," he asked quietly after a moment. Most people just said 'the cohort' when referencing him. Or 'it'. The old queen had called him 'boy' since she was ancient. Of course, there were other slurs constantly thrown at his face too, but he did his best to ignore those. "I don't know you won't," he added in response to her later comment. "Everyone else isn't exactly all peachy to me. Your aunt wasn't as calm as you," he half complained, though complaining normaly got him hit, so he tended to only complain in his head. Her aunt, the old queen, definitely was...not a nice person.

Ella raised her eyebrows at Sage's first comment, her mouth part of the way open in surprise. "I meant your name. What else am i meant to call you?" She asked, feeling her skin get ever so slightly warmer as she caught him jump out the corner of her eye. He definitely didnt seem like he trusted her, o was happy she was there at all. That wasn't her problem, though. "Well believe it or not, i'm not a monster. Nor am I my aunt. She just had her..own morals, and opinions, plus she was old, its only expected in royalty no?" She asked, twirling her hair inbetween her fingers. She turned her gaze towards the boy, shifting her position on the chair, delicately crossing one knee over the other. "Look, you dont have to trust me, nor do you have to like me, but we at least need to be civil. I don't like having to be here just as much as you" She sighed, her exhale coming out slowly. She wasnt prepared to take yhe job as "queen" very seriously at all, in fact she liked the idea of the jokes a lot more than the serious side.

He shrugged slightly in response to her comment, humming in a sort of thought. "Well most people just call me the cohort," he pointed out. "But I'm Sage," he mused after a moment. He had to admit, it was nice for someone to ask for his name, even if it was just politeness. That way least meant she respected him enough to ask. And be polite. He couldn't help the slight smile that twitched at his mouth at her comment about her aunt being old. "She was ancient," he agreed in a somewhat amused tone of voice. Then he wrinkled his nose slightly. "I did always wonder why they didn't find someone more...her age for this sort of job," he admitted. It was odd, hearing that she didn't want to be here, and he shock caused him to actually look at her, blinking in a rather dumbfounded way. She didn't want to be here? "Well, you'll have to put me to use somehow or by dawn they'll have me hung," he said bluntly. "And you'll get someone else who's probably a little too keen to get into bed with the queen," he added with a snort.

Ella leant back against the car, still fiddling with the ends of her hair, staring down at her lap. "Well, nice to meet you. Sage." She said quietly, untangling a few curls from the very ends of her hair. She looked up at his other comments, raising her eyebrows slightly as the boy spoke. "It doesn't make much sense, really. She was very picky though" Ella said, her voice still just about the quietist tone. She hated her aunt with a passion. The woman was always grumpy, liked to hurl insults and didnt know how to treat anyone she knew with respect. Still, Ella supposed her aunt treated Sage somewhat nicely, after all he was the queens cohort. She narrowed her eyes at his very last comment, furrowing her brow in confusion. "Put you to use? I have no idea what you mean" She shook her head, standing up off the chair to readjust her dress, then settling herself back down, this time facing fully towards Sage.

Sage nodded in response to her comment, though she wasn't even really looking at him. He wasn't really sure why he did it. Whatever. He shrugged when she mentioned her aunt and grunted in agreement. There were plenty of things he could say about his previous master, none of which were very nice and all of which could get him hung. He rolled his eyes at her next comment though. "I'm here for three reasons.....keep you satisfied, warm in bed, and to potentially give you an heir," he snorted. "And it seems to me like you're not wanting that at the moment so you'll have to figure out something else for me to do that doesn't involve something you don't want," he said. His tone let on that he was perfectly ok with not doing the cohort duties of in bed stuff....but he was trying to stay alive all the same.

Sage's words made Ella feel slightly sick, and she inhaled sharply, holding her breath for a couple of seconds. "That...No." She frowned, placing her head in her hands for a split second. "I'd rather not" She added, looking down at the boy, who seemed to be planted firmly to the wall in the corner. She knew being that of royalty wasn't glamorous or fair in the slightest and she knew she was highly expected to reproduce a son, which was clearly favoured, but she was highly against any of that. In fact, she was against the idea of children at all, let alone with a guy who seemed almost repelled by her. She turned back to look at him, her eyes showing that of boredom. "Anyway. I have no idea what i'm meant to be doing here, its not like I exactly had a choice." She mumbled, getting slight flashbacks of her fathers long explanation of her actions. She had been too upset at the time to remember a thing he told her.

Admittedly, Sage's shoulders relaxed when she confirmed she definitely did not want to do anything or that sort with him. He didn't exactly enjoy it, to say the least, especially when it was with someone like the old queen. At least this one was nice. And around his age. And sort of pretty....th eold one had wrinkled and smelled like an odd combination of mothballs and chicken noodle soup. And not in a good way. Anyone who could make chicken noodle soup smell threatening had something wrong with them. He grunted in response to her next comment though, shrugging slightly. "Well you can figure out what to do with me for starters," he commented. "Preferabbly something that doesn't involve me slowly choking to death on a tree branch," he added as a second thought. He doubted she'd do that to him, since she didn't seem to care much about him at all one way or the other. But, if he wasn't being put to use, the advisors would love nothing more than to drag him over to the noose tree by dawn.
