Sage had heard the whistle before anyone else....sometimes he supposed his wolf senses were helpful. But not when he could hear a bomb coming for miles before it hit. And it hurt. Almost like a dog whistle. He'd noticed the girl move towards him, and he'd started to shout "no, don't," but he didn't get far into it before the bomb had landed and he staggered, gasping in pain when something flew past him, scraping deep into his cheek. He let out a sort of yelp, clamping his hands over his ears, which hurt even more now. He cursed when he noted that at least one, if not both, were bleeding due to the loud noise. But he could hear people crying and screaming, and while he was panicky he knew he'd have to help them if he could. He saw the girl moving towards him, and then noted another student laying next to their area, and he lunged for the girl, checking her over. She had a nasty cut along her side, but she had to be hurt worse than that...it dawned on him when he noticed the building chunks around them....she'd hurt her torso, and would likely have blood in her chest where it shouldn't belong. "You....get over here," he called, hoping the other girl would just do it. He was already moving her shirt and prepping her chest to open her up and get her heart started again.

Florida clutched the bark of the tree, trying to keep the tears at bay. The pain in her legs was worse now, so she looked down. She immediately wished she hadn't. Something had flown straight into her leg and was wedged in there. She heard a voice tell her to move, so she did. Flo tried not to look at faces, but it was impossible. Cries of pain came from every side of her and she closed her eyes for a second before tuning and limping to the boy kneeling beside a girl. Not just any girl... it was her best friend. "Oh no... No no no!" she fell to the ground on her other side and brushed her hair from her face. "Is she alright? What is going on? Are we going to be alright? Are YOU alright?" the questions started falling out until her eyes met his. "that cut is nasty"

Sage could tell the girl was panicky, and in all honesty he would have panicked at the situation if he wasn't focused on helping as many people as possible. He might be their only hope. "She'll be fine if you just take a deep breath and do what I tell you," he muttered, glancing over the girls leg. He decided the unconscious girl was more at risk of dying, so he took the girls trembling hands and placed them where he wanted them on her friends shoulders. "she's out cold but might still have reflexes. Hold her there," he Instructed, moving to staddle her legs in case she kicked and taking the small kit out of his pocket. He tied his hair back quickly so it was out of his face before grabbing the scalpel and then glanced up for a moment. "And don't look," he added before moving to make the incision and stick his hands inside the girls body, feeling over her heart until he found the hole he'd need to see up. He did so quickly, and was relieved to see the girls color returning once he was done. He wiped his hands on his scrubs and took a small needle out of his pocket "how much do you weigh," he asked, eyeing the girl. "About a hundred," he asked, figuring he'd be accurate...he normally was. But he did need the weight for the medicine. He figured he'd be close enough though, so he stuck the needle in her thigh before taking a small pair of pliers and working at getting the glass out of her leg, cleaning the wound, and patching it up. Then, once he was done, he slid along the tree line, watching the few other who were sprawled on the ground. He took off after a moment, dodging the things still being dropped on them, checking each person before running back under the covers of the trees when another few windows blew out. "You're a very lucky person," he murmured to the girl. "You both are," he added, as the other girl was still alive and doing much better. He rested his hands in his lab coat pockets, outfit now sufficiently covered with blood. "Let's get her to the hospital," he mused after a moment of quiet, debating what to say. He scooped the girl up and carried her down the street, where he ran into the hospital and called "trudie, we need a bed, what's open," to a nurse, who responded with a "number two." He headed straight there and got to work, setting up an IV and the instruments needed for the still girl. Once he was done he turned to the other one...the rude one...signing off on the patient chart and then grabbing another one. "I'm prescribing you pain meds and antibiotics for that," he told her, now tired and wanting to go to sleep. "I'm sure you'll want to go home so I'll discharge you, but only if you promise to actually take them," he added. His face was still bleeding so he wanted to stitch that up, too ..he'd have to do it in the bathroom, since none of the other doctors or nurses would want to do it. Florida did as she was instructed, not looking a whatever the boy was doing. "How in the world do you know?" She asked when he speculated about her weight. "and why do you need to- OW!" she flinched, jumping away but her leg was already numb. She could feel some things but chose not to look. "If this is your way of getting me back it isn't going to work" She gritted her teeth when the guy left. She screamed when more bombs were dropped and glass started flying. When he came back she could feel herself trembling. "lucky- pshh. I would have been fine. Her on the other hand..." Florida nodded when the guy spoke and she followed him at a slower pace, her leg still slightly numb. She watched as needles and cords were attacked to her. The beepings sounds were becoming too much and she was about to step outside when the guy spoke to her again. "I can't go home. It isn't safe out there!" she protested. The hospital shook as another bomb exploded nearby. "i'll take it but there's no promises"

Sage had simply grunted in response to the girls comments, rolling his eyes when she accused him of getting back at her. "No, getting back at you would be leaving you here," he grumbled. "Good luck getting that out of your leg without cutting your femoral artery and being dead in a minute or less," he added with a huff. When she snorted about being lucky he just scowled. "Every other person in that school was just killed," he said bluntly. "Maybe have some more respect for life." He knew she'd have to work at walking, but he honestly didn't care. He sighed when she mentioned she couldn't go home though, and ran a tired hand over his face. "Your parents will be worried," he noted. "You're going to take it or your blood will likely get infected and you'll die in a whole lot more pain than you're in now," he snapped at her, tossing her the pill bottles. "Two a day, with food for each of them," he instructed her before setting the chart down and resting his pockets in his lab coat, not noticing the blood covering him any more. "You could stay here I suppose," he murmured after a moment of studying her. "I could have a nurse pull a bed into the lounge," he suggested. "That is, of you can manage to have me in another bed for.." he checked his watch..."five hours or so," he told her with a shrug.

Florida gritted her teeth each time he spoke. "so the beast boy finally speaks, huh?" she caught the pill bottle with ease and sat down in a chair, watching the smoke build ou the window. "my parents won't be worried..." she rolled her eyes and glanced back at the guy who pretty much saved her life. "I'm not sleeping when we could be blasted at any second!" she crossed her arms. "And i still can't take these because I don't have any food." She hated that he had saved her. if he was just going to be a pain about it, why hadn't he have jusy left her standing at the tree. he seemed to know what he was doing so he didn't need her help

Sage grit his own teeth when the girl still seemed to enjoy being rude towards him. Though, his brows did furrow when she said her parents wouldn't be worried. "We get that a lot. The parents are always worried," he snorted before huffing out a breath. "The nurses are bringing you something," he noted before wrinkling his nose. "Well I have been on for 48 hours, and my shift ended," he checked his watch, " four hours ago, and I'm on again in about seven, so I am going to sleep," he told her, slamming the chart down. "I know the concept of hard work must be foreign to you though so I don't expect you to cRe or understand," he added. Then after a moment he sighed. "It's not allowed in war to bomb hospitals. You're safer here than anyqhere else," he muttered before storming out the door. He'd changed into cleam scrubs and worked at his face for a bit, eventually just throwing a bandage on it and pretty much passing out on a bed in the lounge when he got too tired to try and more. Was it smart? No. Was it his only option at the moment? Yes.

Florida shrunk in the seat, unable to speak. She couldn't sit here and let him tear her down. Yes, she had been mean to him, but he was being dowright cruel. She stood, taking the food and swallowing a pill. she shook her head and waited until she nurse left and closed the door before doing what any normal teen would do in her situation- climb out the window. Flo pulled the indow open and threw her good leg over, landing and pulling the window closed again. it wouldn't matter to her mother if she was dead or not. Flo pulled her phone from her pocket and powered it off. She walked around then ran to a tree, pulling herself up into the branches. She knew hard work, but she would never let anyone know that. Everyone knew her as the snobby popular girl, but she wasn't always that way. The real her was hidden deep down under all of the fake money and status. She was really a kind girl who read books and fantasized about the guys in them. She wasn't mean, but she pretended to be. Flo leaned back in the branches, her body hidden from view. She listened to the streaking of bombs as they pierced the air with their explosions

Sage was woken only a few hours later when a bomb landed a nearby, the ground shaking enough to jostle him. He groaned and looked at the clock, sighing when he realized he'd have to be on call in an hour anyway, so he may as well just get up. He moved to quickly check his reflection in the window by him, fixing his hair and then moving to splash cold water on his face in an attempt to wake up a bit more before wandering out of the room amd checking on the girl who hes helped. She was asleep, but not unconscious any more..good, they still had to find her parents though. The other girl was gone, and while he didn't participate, he did wonder where she's gone. He sniffed the air around him ...her scent led out the window, but didn't go far. He noted the tree she had sat in and shrugged. If that's where she'd decided to stay then so be it. He moved on again then, checking in on patients and taking over the charts from the person who'd worked the night shift.

Florida couldn't sleep, so she stared out at the stars. Her mother had claimed that any situation was better when you could watch the stars. Flo normally disagreed, but now the balls of fire seemed like the only thing that wasn't changing. She looked over at the hospital. She needed to try to make it up to the boy who helped her out. Florida climbed from the tree, her leg throbbing. She started walking until she spotted another wave of bombing planes and the bombs were dropped closer than before. She started running toward the hospital, ignoring the searing pain in her leg. She opened the door, sitting in a waiting room chair and wincing. She gently touched the skin around the area. "Ouch!" she bit her tongue
