Sage just grinned over at her in response to her comments, a soft hum rising in his throat."me too,* he noted lightly, before moving to get to his feet with a grunt. He'd need to move or he'd be aoer after this, no doubt. But he also wanted to put the cake away and such too, so he wandered over to the kitchen to do that. Jora watched Sage with a raised eyebrow as he moved, her lips quirking into a small, amused smile. Of course, he'd grumble about needing to move—she could practically see the way his muscles protested. She didn’t say anything, though, just letting the moment linger as he went to deal with the cake. She leaned back in her chair, stretching out her legs a bit, still feeling the comfortable weight of their easy conversation hanging in the air. It wasn’t often things felt this effortless with him. She shifted her gaze to the kitchen, a soft chuckle escaping her at the thought of him fumbling with the cake or whatever other task he’d decided to take on. "Need help?" she called over, though she doubted he'd actually ask for it. |

Sage had moved to grab a container for the cake to go in, sliding it into the pan after a minute or two of figuring out how he was supposed to actually get it onto the plate. He figured it out soon enough though, using some of the spatulas to move it into it and then seal the container. He chuckled softly when she spoke up, throwing her an amused glance. "Just cuz I can't cook doesn't mean I can't figure out how to put said food away," he hummed lightly after a moment, tossing the cake in the fridge and then wandering over to plop back down on the couch happily. |

Jora watched Sage move around the kitchen with a mix of amusement and curiosity. She hadn't expected him to struggle with getting the cake into the container, but then again, she couldn’t remember the last time he’d even attempted anything like this. When he spoke, she raised an eyebrow, a teasing smile tugging at her lips. "Sure, you can *figure it out*," she replied, crossing her arms with a smirk. "But I still don't know if I trust you with anything that doesn't come in a box or need a microwave." Her gaze followed him as he dropped back onto the couch, looking entirely too pleased with himself for someone who'd just had a minor victory in the kitchen. She tilted her head, amusement still lingering in her voice. "Guess I should start taking notes. I might need a lesson in cake storage from the expert." |

Sage couldn't help but chuckle in response to her tease, shrugging and giving her his normal crooked grin. "Me either," he mused. "But getting it into a container was much easier than making it," he noted, sort of just settling in the corner of the couch, smile lingering on his face. He snorted when she spoke up again, rather amused at the whole conversation. "I wouldn't go that far," he chuckled. "I do believe it's going to be up to you to make edible meals," he added somewhat sheepishly. He could hunt and such, and she probably could too....but he could not cook. Well...he could probably roast something over a fire outside and probably not burn it to a crisp, but they had a kitchen that would make things much easier. So he'd prefer to use that. Wasting firewood wasn't the best idea either, he supposed. |

Jora leaned back against the couch, studying Sage's grin for a moment, before a small smile tugged at her own lips. She was still amused by the idea of him claiming that getting food into a container was easier than making it. She shook her head lightly, eyes glinting with teasing mischief. “True, the container part isn’t so bad,” she agreed, “But I wouldn’t exactly call *any* of this cooking, Sage. More like... survival.” She crossed her arms, pretending to consider his claim about meals. “I mean, I’m not a chef, but I can definitely manage something edible.” Her tone was light, but her smirk deepened at the thought of how much he might struggle if left to his own devices in the kitchen. She was quiet for a beat, then let out a small laugh at his sheepish comment. "Alright, alright, I’ll take the lead in the kitchen. But don’t be expecting me to make anything fancy. We’re surviving, remember?” Her eyes softened as she caught his sheepishness, a part of her understanding his reluctance with firewood and cooking. She’d been there too—sitting in front of a fire or struggling to throw something together with limited supplies. But she had a feeling she could make it work, if only to show him it wasn’t as hard as he thought. "No promises on anything gourmet, though," she added with a wink, her grin mischievous. |

Sage couldn't help but laugh in response to her comment, shaking his head slightly. "The eggs were enough cooking to last me a while," he noted in amusement. He nodded along when she said it was simply survival, waving the comments aside. "It's slightly more than just survival if we have a house and electricity," he noted. "But as long as it tastes decent I don't much care what it looks like," he added with a grin. Of course, as she continued, noting about nothing gourmet, he gave her a wicked looking grin. "Oh, don't worry, that's what you're here for," he chirped, really just joking around with her lightly. It was always amusing to make fun like that, and while neither of them probably had any intentions of starting something up again, he still just enjoyed messing around. |

Jora rolled her eyes playfully at Sage’s grin, crossing her arms over her chest. "Oh, so now I’m the designated gourmet chef, huh?" she teased, raising an eyebrow at him. The idea of him expecting her to be the one to bring the culinary magic was almost laughable, especially considering the mess he'd made with the eggs earlier. "You better hope I’m in the mood to cook, or you’ll be getting more of my survival meals." She let out a dramatic sigh, then smirked. "But fine, since you asked so nicely," she added with a wink. "Maybe I’ll whip something up, but don’t get your hopes too high. You can’t handle all my skills." She leaned back slightly, making it clear she was enjoying the banter. It was easy to mess around with Sage like this; there was no pressure, just fun. The past was the past, and they were both content with keeping things light. |

Sage chuckled softly and shook his head when she kept talking about food. "Not what I meant, babe," he noted, eyes glittering. Though, at her next comment, he pouted over at her. "You'd starve me," he whined. "I wouldn't be able to do anything for you then," he added with a huff of air, of course enjoying their playful banter just as much as she was. That was one thing he loved about her...they could banter back and forth all day long. Even when he didn't feel good or was having a bad day, she always perked him up. Made him feel a little bit better about himself, or his life. "Really," he mused when she mentioned not being able to handle all her skills, raising his eyebrows slightly. "I can't, can I," he added, shaking his head with pursed lips in pretend thought. "I dunno, I think I've handled you pretty well so far," he noted lightly. |

Jora grinned, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she shot him a teasing glance. "Oh, I don't know," she replied with a playful shrug, keeping her tone light but clearly enjoying every bit of their back-and-forth. "You seem pretty good at handling me when it suits you." She leaned in closer, her voice dropping to a mock-serious whisper. "But we both know I'm the one running the show here." She let the words linger for a second before letting out a soft laugh, reaching out to ruffle his hair affectionately. She loved how he could be so carefree with her, how easy it was to slip into these light moments that made everything else fade into the background. It was rare to find someone who got her the way he did, and she never took it for granted. "And as for starving you," she added, her grin widening as she leaned back slightly, hands on her hips in a dramatic pose. "Well, maybe I would, but only because I’m worried you'd get too full of yourself." Her eyes narrowed in playful suspicion. "And then you might actually think you could handle all my skills for real." She leaned in, brushing her lips lightly against his cheek. "But for you, I'd make an exception. Just don't go getting any ideas," she teased, her voice low and warm. |
