Malakai nodded. "I don't blame her for going to you. If I trusted my father the way she trusts you, I would've done the same," he said evenly. "Very well," he sighed, standing up and watching the king as he left. Once he was gone, Kai sighed. There was no way he'd ever see Camery again, let alone get her back. Kai started his work, ordering 75% of his guards to the border.

Camery Valatieri - Camery found herself pacing the dining hall, having not left it all day. She was worried about her father... what the king would say, do to him. If Malakai was alright... no, no, she didn't need to think about him. She hated what he'd done to her. She hated that between the two of them, she could have caused war. One that had been going on for nearly a century, and was now going to get worse. When she heard the guards re-jigging their positions, she took a quick glance out the door, to see her father storming up the halls. "Dad!" She chirped, although the sound was still laced with worry. He looked back to her, his eyes softening slightly. "Hey doll," he hummed, resting his hand on her head, sort of guiding her along until they reached his office, already plopping down on his chair. He looked up, to see his daughters face drawn and worried. He sighed, pursing his lips before drawing in a deep breath. "So, it seems the King of the Knight Kingom is on his deathbed," he started soflty. "And that your boyfriend happens to be the future king." His voice was bitter, and Camery couldn't help but freeze up for a moment. "...What?" King? Malakai? Did the lies stop anywhere? It made sense. He never stopped asking about her feelings about the Night Kingdom, or if she'd ever consider one of its heirs. God, she felt stupid. It never stopped. "Unfortunately so. We're putting guards out on the boarders... a few knights are going with them. I wouldn't worry too much, doll," he muttered. "Go relax. We've got all of this," he added, flashing the young girl a smile. Cam nodded slowly, although clearly so upset about all of this. She made her way back to her room, attempting to 'relax' as her father had put it.

By the time Malakai had squared everything away and sent the guards to the borders, it was past nightfall. Kai found himself particularly drained from the day, and just empty. He didn't eat dinner with his family that night, instead he just went to his room, crawling right into bed. The weight of everything consumed him. The pressure of the impending war between their kingdoms, the guilt of what he had done... Malakai tried to hold back the tears, but it was too much. Kai cried and cried. He'd lost his one true love. He was an awful creature, filth, scum. He didn't deserve to exist in this world... not after what he had done. He had lost her, forever.

Camery Valatieri - Camery settled down on her bed, her stomach churning at the thought of it all. It was all so... scary. She didn't know what the next few months were going to look like. She settled down quietly, her maid eventually coming in, offering Jack some dinner and put a tray down by her side. She offered her nothing more than a sympathetic look. She needed it. She'd really fucked this all up. If she'd followed the rules, she would have never fallen for a spy. A prince. He was a prince, a spy, a lier... and as much as she hated him, she loved him just as much. She already missed him. Cam tried to eat, but only ended up throwing it all back up in the bathroom, her stomach churning and her mind going wild. She cleaned her face before settling back down in her bed, her cheeks wet with tears as she eventually settled down, drifting off to sleep.

Malakai cried until he couldn't anymore. His head sounded with a headache, but instead of going to sleep, he got up, sitting at his desk. Kai wrote her a letter, apologizing for what he had done, how he missed her, how he loved her, how he knew nothing could ever make up for what he had done. Kai didn't send the letter, instead, he folded it up, putting it in his desk drawer. He knew she wouldn't want to hear from him right now, if not ever.

Camery slept through the night roughly, knowing that there was very much a chance things would go down hill... although she was rudely awaken by her mother walking in, stating that she would be going to stay at one of their Manor House's for a while. Safety, she said... they knew where she was right then, and if an invasion or a battle were to break out they didn't want her in the middle of it. She wanted to stay - help where she could but right then, it just wasn't an option. She sighed, knowing she was right. She didn't feel safe here... Malakai knew exactly where she was. He kept on insisting he loved her, and she was... well, she was terrified of him. She didn't want to find out exactly how deranged he could be. So, she nodded and got changed quickly, getting into a cart with some bags that had been pre packed by a maid. Jack was with her, like he always was. As they set off, she caught herself just watching him. Quiet, stoic, always on guard. He knew his job to the T. He was like a brother to her, and she couldn't help but feel bad she was putting him through all of this. "I'm sorry about all of this, Jack. I should have picked up on it all sooner..." "Don't worry, your highness. It would be the same outcome no matter what."

Malakai was a shell of a human when the sun rose. A maid came into his room. "Hello, sir... your father... has been declared dead..." she squeaked quietly. Kai nodded. He didn't feel a shred of sadness or sympathy at his father's death. So, Kai was king. "Your mother wants you to make a speech to the kingdom..." the maid informed him. "When?" Kai asked. "This afternoon, at 2," "Very well, thank you," Kai got ready for the speech. He didn't eat, shower, or do anything but make himself presentable on the outside. On the inside, he was empty. Dead. Gone. Hollow. Outside, he didn't show it. The only way someone could know was that by looking into his eyes.

Camery Valatieri - Cam sat quietly after that... she didn't know what was going on, but as they rode along the boarders people were filing in and out and it just seemed so... busy. Her own Knights were there, as were the Night Kingdoms, fire, earth, air, and water. They were everywhere. Her father had said the king of the Night Kingdom was on his death bed. Well, she supposed that really was the case now. He was dead. Kai. Malakai was king. She felt her chest ache in a way she just couldn't describe. She let out a soft breath, looking over at Jack. "Jack, we need to stop," she whispered. The command was simple, and so he had the driver pull up quickly. He looked back at her, his face curious. He knew better than to ask questions, but this was... odd. "I want to watch," Camery murmured softly, before he even had the chance to ask. "Princess, it's not safe-" "Please?" It was such a simple request. They'd blend in seamlessly, then leave. She loved him, she hated him but she wanted to watch. See what their new opposer was really like, as a king. Jack let out a soft breath, but then nodded gently. "Alright," he whispered, hopping out the cart and grabbing an old robe out the back for her, hiding any symbolisation they were from the Day Kingdom. He handed her one, then put his own on. "Lets go,"

Malakai walked out onto the balcony of the castle, overseeing thousands of people. Some from other kingdoms, allies and neutrals, most where Night Kingdom citizens though. Everyone was silent. "Hello," Kai started calmly, his voice projecting over loudspeakers and cameras filming him. "I think it is safe to say, my father was not a particularly loved man. Most of you know about the horrors that have gone on in the kingdom because of my father, to citizens, to friends, to family. As the new king of the Night Kingdom, I swear to never follow in those footsteps. I fear becoming my father, and hope to never become that man." He said truthfully. "As many of you know, I have recently returned from infiltrating the Day Kingdom. The Day Kingdom peoples have always been projected to us as the enemy, people to be feared, simply because of our centuries of conflict. Even I'll admit it, I feared them when I first went on my mission. But, while I was over there, I have learned something. They are just like us. We are the same. We fear each other because our ancestors told us to, with no reasoning. The Day Kingdom fears us just as much as we do them. So why fight? Why not just learn to understand them? Learn to become friends?" He asked, emotion pouring into his speech. "Years ago, centuries before centuries, the Day and Night Kingdoms, were close allies. Friends. It was all one little misunderstanding that tore that friendship apart, bringing us to where we are today. So, as your new king, my first action will be to cease all attacks on the Day Kingdom. Spies will return, soldiers will be brought back. No more fighting. Let's learn to be allies again, friends again," he finished his speech. The crowd erupted in cheers, all happy and supporting. Everyone wanted this war to be over.

Camery Valatieri - Camery wandered a step or so infont of Jack, although they tried to make it seem less like they were princess and guard... where they were most likely to be jumped or something. The state of the kingdom... well it was horrific. Even that short walk through the boarders into the castle village. It was all slums, rotting courpses on the pavement. It was comparable to that of a swamp. Rat infested alleys, bins...mud nearly to her ankles, which were covered with that old robe. It didn't surprise her much. Not now, at least. Not after seeing what the heirs were really like. Lies, spies... it made sense. They'd ruined their own kingdom. Still, she wanted to see the truth in Malakais eyes. Hear what he had to say. He'd be speaking to that of his own kingdom, and he'd have to be nothing but truthful for them They soon entered the town centre, where you could see directly up to the castles balcony. And there he stood. That well built frame, tattoos and wings... this was the real him. They were surrounded by it. She couldn't help but feel tense. One wrong move and it was all over. She looked up at he spoke, the whole world going quiet for a few minutes. By the time he was done, it was mostly cheers, some boos here and there but... most of them seemed to agree. A soft breath escaped her, a little relief coursing through her but still tense. It all sounded good in theory... but she couldn't trust him. This was so new, and those few boos set her on edge. Jack looked at her for a moment, his eyes soft. "Do you want to stay or leave?" Cam looked around, her eyes falling on a small group of thug looking people, who seemed to pick up on her tension. "We should probably go," she whispered.
