She blushed a little. "I'm grateful" she said with a shy smile, her gaze on him.

Sage chuckled softly and grinned at her in response. "I figured out pretty quickly I didn't want to keep trying to fight with you if we were living in the same building," he noted with amusement

"And boy, am I glad you gave up quickly" Florida giggled, leaning her head against his chest again. "Sorry for making the conversation kind of gloomy. What's something good?" she paused for a second. "Oh I know! We're still alive! And somehow, we went from mortal enemies to being in each others arms. My how the tables have turned" she smiled

Sage chuckled softly and hummed with a sort of shrug, wrapping his arms around her when she leaned in. "well, sometimes it's good to talk about upsetting things," he pointed out. Then he nodded happily at her next comments, grinning down at her. "It is odd, isn't it," he mused. "Not unwelcome though."

"no. Not unwelcome" she sighed, her body relaxing against his. She heard something but ignored it. Not ten seconds later, she heard a scuffling of feet. "What's that?" she asked, lifting her head to watch the lunchroom door. She watched the door open and her gaze travled up the human, her eyes landing on his face. She gasped and her knees went weak. "Oh my..." the man leaned heavily on the door frame, his steps weary. He had no injuries other than a cut on his arm. His blond hair was messy and his green eyes followed her every movements. "Florida" he said, his voice raspy.

Sage hummed in agreement, just happy to hold her, but his keen hearing and nose picked up the scent of a man. A man coming towards them. He smelled only a bit of blood, but he frowned and tensed when he came near them, a protective growl rumbling in his throat. "You know him," he asked Florida, not wanting to attack someone she was friendly or family with.

Florida ignored Sage, her gaze locked onto the man infront of her. She had always seen pictures of her biological father, but she had always been told that he was dead. Her mother had lied. She really was as cruel as she thought. Florida gripped Sage's arm, her eyes wide. "M-Mom said you were d-dead" she stuttered. Her legs trembled as the man stepped forward. "I knew she would..." he said sadly. He watched her. "I never thought I would see you again" he glanced at Sage for a second, his eyes taking him in. "Where is your Mother?" He asked, looking back at Florida. She shook her head and looked down. "I..." her voice broke. "I don't know"

Sage relaxed slightly when Florida seemed to know the guy. It hadn't really fully clicked about who he was, but they were obviously close enough to know who eachother were. And about her mother. "Florida,' he repeated, worried more now that she hadn't responded. "who is he," he asked, obviously confused about what the hell was happening.

Florida was full on trembling now, her grip tightening around Sage's arm. "That's m-my biological father" she mumbled, her voice cracking. The man gave a slight nod and motioned toward Sage. "Who are you?" he asked. Florida swallowed, her brain still processing through all of the different lies she had made up for her stories to make sense.

Sage felt his eyebrows shoot up into his head in response to her comment. He hadnt expected that one. Though, they did smell pretty similar he supposed. "Really," sort of noted before cocking his head and gazing over at the man. He looked about to drop on the spot. "Uh, I work here. We've been sheltering here for a week or so after our school got bombed," he noted in response to her dad's comment.
