Florida held his arm. "he also left out a... pretty important note." she glanced at Sage. "He's my boyfriend" she stepped away from her father, still unsure of what to think. "Can I stay here?" he gestured around the room. Florida swallowed. "Oh... um ye-yeah, I guess so?"

Sage felt a light blush form on his face when she called him her boyfriend. It was nice to hear. He nodded in the affirmative, and then nodded again when the man asked if he could stay. "I'll set up a bed in a room by ours," he noted softly. "You two should catch up," he added, slipping out of the room after a moment.

Florida watched as her father nodded. "thank you" he said. He stepped closer to Flo when Sage left. She swallowed, unsure of the man infront of her. "Is it really you..?" She asked. Her father- James- gave a slight nod of his head. "Yes, sweetpea, it's me" the nickname gave her goosebumps. Only her mother had used that name and James had suppossedly used it before he "died". "Why would Mom lie about your death?" She asked. "Because... 'cause I told her to. For your safety"

Sage left the room and around the corner, pausing to stop and hunch over, breathing heavily. He even had to put a hand on the wall to steady himself. He could move on his own, sure, but it still hurt quite a bit. That wasn't his main worry though. This guy...he was her father. No doubt he'd want her to live with him. She'd want to get to know him. What if they left? He'd be here...in this hospital....alone. for however long he decided to live.

(stop... that's so sad!) Florida shook her head, looking away. Suddenly something clicked in her head, causing her to back away from James. "i- I need a second" she followed where Sage had left, trying not to make her quick departure too terribly obvious. "S-Sage are you alright?" she stopped next to him, placing a gentle hand on his shoulder. Her eyes ere nervously glancing toward the door, scared that her father would bardge through and say something that would scare her more than he already had

(bros mind is just sad tbh lol) Sage half jumped when Florida came up behind him and nodded sheepishly. "I'm ok," he murmured, offering her a small smile. "Just moved weird enough for my side to yell at me for a second," he added with a small shrug. "Just needed a second," he added, pushing himself off the wall with a sigh after a moment or so and continuing down the hall slowly.

Florida gave him a slight nod, her eyes going back to the door. "I don't trust him" she said quickly, following Sage down the hallway. "He scared me..." she fumbled with her hands, her palms sweaty. She wiped them on her shirt and linked her arm in his. "I want to trust him... to have a relationship with him... but I can't..." she swallowed and shook her head, glancing at Sage. Sage sort of frowned but nodded in response to her comments, humming after a moment. "I'll put him in a room down the hall from us then," he mused, holding onto her tightly when she reached for his arm. "No," he mused at her question. "I think if my dad showed up right now like that if have a heart attack and just die in a corner somewhere," he noted with a small chuckle.

She nodded. "thanks" she giggled at his last comment. "No! Don't die in a corner!" she bit her lip. "you totally want to suffer through life cause you like me" she grinned, her teasing getting the best of her

Sage couldn't help but chuckle in response to her comments, giving her a grin. "I suppose that doesn't sound too terrible," he mused, slipping into a room he'd have her father stay in. "Besides, my old man's not gonna show up," he noted with a shrug. "He probably got killed off right away cuz he's passed out drunk somewhere again," he noted, not concerned at all.
