Kai sat down at the head of the table, next to Camery. Their food was served and for a while, it was just and awkward silence, until his mother spoke up. "So, Princess Camery, what brings you here?" She asked politely. Kais mom was very much an extrovert, until his father started hitting her. She was trying to get back to that normal.

Camery ate in almost silence, her leg bouncing up and down at the awkwardness. She sighed softly once she was done, setting her cutlery down and sort of just observing everyone. She almost jumped at the sound of the woman's voice, though her shoulders soon dropped and she started to relax. She couldn't exactly say that her guards arrested them, or that her son had begged her to stay, so instead gave a simple shrug. "Oh, not much. We were passing through and thought it would be nice to see the new king being crowned," she hummed in what she hoped to be a light tone.

Malakai Negri - Malakais mother nodded, giving her a little smile. "Well, I hope you enjoy your stay," she said, dipping her head respectfully. She then turned to Malakai, "Son, are you still holding the Winter Solstice Ball this year?" she asked. Oh shoot, Kai forgot about that. The Winter Solstice was the longest night of the year, and every year the Night Kingdom holds a ball in the palace and others have street parties around town. People from all over the world came to the Winter Solstice. "Uh- yeah, I'll get on top of that," Kai replied. He had forgotten all about it, and it was a week away.

Camery Valatieri - Camery gave a polite smile to the woman, although was still fidgeting quietly under the table. She cocked her head as she listened to them, though. She had heard of this Winter Solstice Ball, but of course had never been to one. Her family always had their own thing in the Day kingdom. They couldn't afford to her jumped while they weren't sober. She took a glance at Malakai, though, a brow slightly raised. "I could help if you're behind? I've assisted with a few of these things..." she trailed off, her head cocked curiously. She did enjoy going to these things... and, it felt nice when everyone was enjoying themselves after you set it all up.

Malakai Negri - Malakai nodded and smiled at her. "Yeah, that'd be great, if you want to," he replied. Kai hated party planning. His father made him do it once, it turned out pretty bad. He'd gotten whipped for that one.

Camery Valatieri - Camery gave a bit of a grin, albeit a hesitant one. She loved things like this... although, you wouldn't get her to admit it. She shrugged after a moment, her eyes soft. "I'd love to. If I'm staying I may aswell be of some use," she chirped. She wanted his family to like her. It was a strange feeling... she wasn't sure why this was important to her, but it was.

Malakai Negri - Malakai nodded, with a soft, thankful smile. "Thanks," he said gratefully. "Can you start helping this afternoon?"

Camery Valatieri - Camery nodded lightly at him. She took a glance at Jack, then shrugged. "Well, let us get settled first, but yeah, sure," she chirped. She stood up after a moment, and brushed herself off, flicking her hair over her shoulder. "Speaking of, Malakai? Would you like to us where we're staying?" She asked softly.

Malakai nodded and stood. "You'll be staying in a guest room on the west wing of the castle," he said, leading them out of the dining room and walking them to their rooms.

Camery hummed and gave a light nod to him, standing up and thanking his family for sitting down and eating with them. They seemed just as nervous as she was. That settled her nerves, just a little. She folled Malakai along happily, her eye slight as they wandered along. "It's a pretty castle," she noted as she looked around, the designes on the walls standing out more than anything. It was gorgrous. Darker, than her own home, but gorgeous all the same.
