Sage chuckled and shrugged. "Well he doesn't have to talk to me if he doesn't want to. That's his own issue." He grinned and nudged max with his elbow gently. "Sounds to me like your friends are just as excited about the little guy as we are."
"Don't be hard on him..." Lizzie said "He's just protective of Max... His mother raised him and his sister alone because their father abandoned them... Then his sister was killed in a car wreck... Now he's gravitated toward Max and he's protective that's all." She assured him "Just don't take it too hard right now... Once he sees you're a good guy then he'll calm down" she nodded her eyes widening when he said "Little guy" "You mean you know if it's a boy or a girl?!" She chirped "No no... We're gonna wait until it's born." Max explained with a chuckle. "Ohhh well you should think of something to call it in the meantime..." She admitted "Not an actual name just something to refer to the baby as ya know? Since you don't know if it is a boy or girl." She said.
Sage shrugged. "It takes more than that to offend me, believe me," he chuckled. He glanced over at Max and nodded. "She does have a point. It would be nice to have something to call it before it's born and we pick a name."
Lizzie chuckled "Well good." she smiled "Well I gotta get back... you enjoy your day off!" Lizzie chirped. Max nodded and waved goodbye to her friend as she headed off before looking at Sage "Yeah... but what?" she asked curiously.
Sage thought for a second after waving bye to Lizzie. "I'm not sure. We'll think of something though." He suddenly couldn't wait for the baby to be born.
Max smiled "We'll think of something" she chuckled "How about we look here and see if we can find some inspiration for our little ones nursery?" she suggested looking at him "We could pick a plushie or something and put it in the corner where the nursery is gonna be?" she suggested.
Sage chuckled and nodded, waving her in the direction of the shelves. "You go ahead. Youll find inspiration in this stuff more than I will but I'm more than happy to look with you."
Maxine smiled and led him back to the plushies curiously but nothing really seemed to pique her interest nothing felt exactly right... she gave a gentle sigh "Nothing's sparking..." she admitted after a solid 10 minutes of looking a look of sadness crossing her face she felt horrible... she couldn't even pick a plushie... how could she pick names and things for their child? she wondered with a sigh maybe this was a mistake she thought.
Sage followed her around for a bit, happy to just wander. When she started to get downhearted, he put a hand on her shoulder and smiled softly at her. "We've only been to one store. Don't get upset about it...we've been looking for ten minutes."
Max gave a nod though she still seemed a little discouraged "Okay..." she nodded putting the plushie she'd been holding back with a gentle sigh giving Sage a hug. After a little longer she still couldn't seem to find what she wanted so she just asked to go home before she got more discouraged. She tried to tell herself that they'd only been to one place but she couldn't help it... of course she was excited but there were many choices beyond a plushie that they had to make for their child... how could they make the big choices if they couldn't even pick out something as simple as a plushie? When they got home Max decided to sit on the couch and draw for a while glancing down at her tummy every once in a while and giving it a tender caress as she drew. Toward the evening she seemed to perk back up and was working hard on a drawing it was a cute little cat plushie with different colored patches that somewhat looked like Daisy (aside from the multiple colored patches.) She looked up at Sage and was beaming "I think I've got an idea..." she cooed turning the sketchbook toward him "Something significant to you and me... the cat because of Daisy for you... and the patches for me... We don't need to buy one I can make one!" she smiled.
