The mare paused lifting her head up and pricking her ears to the sound of the stallion clearing his throat and walking into the meadow that she was currently trying to graze in. She watched him a moment before settling back down to continue to nitpick at the barren patches she could find. She was really hungry since she had barely eaten for days. Her ribs were starting to show even more than before underneath her coat. It was glaringly obvious at this point that she wasn't having much luck being able to survive other than finding that cave for shelter. Food was scarce especiallythis time of year, but without a herd or stallion to defend and care for her, she had nothing. She tried so hard to make it on her own. At this point she liked the peace of not having to deal with others at times, but the truth was, she was lonely. Really lonely. It sucked being isolated from the rest of the world because she was different, thats why she was bullied, she was chased off so much by stallions because they couldn't see past her history of being born in the human world. They couldn't and didn't want to give her a chance, because she was different. If she had been born wild, she would have made a great lead mare. She was reserved mostly, calm and laid back, unless it mattered. She was beautiful, strong and smart. But she had baggage that most wild horses couldn't look past. So she was isolated. Forced to live alone and try to survive each and every day in this harsh world.

She looked over towards the stallion. Her eyes spoke the words she felt but didn't dare say. She longed for a friend, for someone, anyone to just accept her. To look at her as if she was equal. The fact that the stallion was still there surprised her. She figured he would have left early this morning to get away from her. After all he had said he didn't want anyone around. So why was he still there? He truely confused her. One minute they were fighting and he was attacking her. The next he's grazing feet from where she stood and spending the night nearby. She didn't dare speak to him and ask why. Last thing she wanted was make him upset and bother him. She finally had company, if had been years since her mother died, that was the last form of socialization and company she had, until this morning that is.

She sighed softly looking back down at the ground, moving off to another spot and scratching away the snow with her hoof, gently. She found nothing in that spot and moved again a few steps forward. It took a few tries but she eventually found a new spot, a bit further away from the stallion. Then she got an idea. See how far she could move away and see if he followed her or not.

The stallion wasn't able to find much, pushing around the snow with his muzzle, a few roots was the best he could find. He quietly munched on the dry hard frozen roots of the ground. They weren't the most tasty thing, but it would do. After some time, his audits flicked taking in his surroundings. Red hues scanned around him, where was the mare? Did she leave? Why did he care? While arguing with himself inside his head, he lifted his frame to glance around, it wasn't until he shifted to the left some more, he spotted her almost a yard away. He rose a brow, he must of been so into finding something to eat he didn't realize she had left. Nostrisl flared, he studied her from afar, his forelock fell over one of his hues. He thought about following her for a moment... but why? He had no idea, but something about her made him want to follow.

a gruggling sound soon came from his stomach. Audits pinned at the pain in his gut, he closed his eyes and sighed, he knew soon he would need to leave the mountains and head to the beach or even the plains in search for food. Glaring to the left then to right in the corner of his eyes, making sure no one was around, he took a deep swallow as his attention went back to the mare who seemed to be minding her own, 'she found a cave last night', he wondered what else she was hiding or was able to find...


Curiously and quietly, he began to mozey in the mare's direction, taking his time, with his frame low to the ground, stopping every so often to look for grass to act like he was doing his own thing.

Raven grazed quietly, she watched him out of the corner of her eye. She was too far for him to notice her watching. He seemed to be fighting with himself for some reason. He watched her seeming to be contemplating something. Then he started to close in on her. At first she thought he might just be looking for more food. But then she realized he was'nt grazing at all but pretending to. He was totally following her at this point she was sure of it. Why? The thoughts both confused and excited her at the same time. She turned slightly flicking her tail and she nibbled at some grass as he drew closer. She moved away again when he got a few feet from her. When he took a step she would take two, all the while grazing acting as if she didn't see him there. Maybe he was just as curious about her as she was him. But he wasn't leaving, and that gave her hope, even though she knew it probably wasn't going to last.

The old stallion drew closer to the mare, every so often he would look her way, but seemed like she never noticed him. He shook his frame in a 'whatever' manner, why should he care. Nostrils flarred once more as he paused to dig up more snow, but again nothing but roots, he sighed. He wasn't sure he could handle another scratchy twig rolling down his esophagus.

At the thought of eating another twig sent a shiver over his body that he soon shook off, red hues glanced at the mare, noticing any time he got close she would move again. Maybe she was ignoring him? not like he didn't deserve it. Looking to the warm sun that was beating down on them both, his audits perking in alert, he glanced to her once more and sighed, "I was thinking about heading to the beach or the plains for food, if..." but his voice soon fell short and staggered at the word if as he pawed at the ground. Aghh why was he so bad at this. What was he even doing!? He had not really spoken to another equine in so long... why did he care so much to speak to her? He slightly turned his frame a bit away from her, pinning an audit.

The mare watched him silently. He seemed slightly frustrated, maybe he was trying to get her attention? She turned slightly toward his direction so she wasn't facing away from him. She didn't want him to think she was ignoring him. But she didn't want him to think she would make it that easy on him either. She wasn't entirely sure what she was doing. Part of her wanted to play hard to get. To tease him a little and see how far she could get with him. Testing him a little to see if he actually wanted her around or if he was just trying to get something from her.

Her audits flicked toward him when he began to speak and she rose her head to look at him. Was he trying to invite her to go with him somewhere? Kind of sounded like it, but she wasn't sure exactly because he stopped short seeming to unsure of what he was even saying. "If what?" She asked him curiously. She didn't want to pressure him into answering, but she was genuinely curious at what he was trying to say. She turned toward him and slowly took a few steps forward. Her blue orbs studying his reddish ones. She realized she had been staring a little to long having not realized she had become lost in his eyes for a moment.

An audit flicked in her direction hearing her reply, which he wasn't sure would even happen but it did. Shifting his frame to look her way once more, they locked eyes for a few moments, his ears softly perking as they seemed to get lost in eachother, before he blinked and sourly pulled his frame away "Uh, if you wanted to eat." he nickered quickly and blunt. "Nothing but twigs here, you'll starve" he snorted again rather quickly once more. As he placed his attention past the mountain tops in the distance, 'you'll starve?.. great you idiot now she thinks you care' he hissed to himself inside his mind, audits pinned for a quick second. He cleared his throat to shake off the hinted care that he might of just presented to the mare and without another word, he began to walk away from her. He felt so akward, so dumb, but he walked away unbothered, his large hips swayed with each step he took, his audits forward, plumage flagging behind him, though he sneakily glanced in the corner of his orbs to see if she was coming or not.

Raven looked at him for a moment, taken aback by his comment. Did he just admit to caring if she starved or not? She watched him and glanced the same direction he was looking and sighed. "Uhm. Okay." She said in reply, still trying to decide if what he said was genuine or if he choked when he tried to come up with something else to say and didn't mean it. It wasn't until he turned and walked off that she realized he was leaving her behind. She waited a second before her stomach decided to take that moment to remind her how hungry she was. She knew she couldn't afford to stay here. But she also wasn't sure what was going on between them or if he was just tricking her. Against her better judgment she pushed the fears asside and decided to follow him. She pushed her legs into a short canter to close the massive gap between them. Then she slowed down making sure she kept a bit of distance between them, she didn't want to get in his space. He was doing her a kindness after all. She didn't want to blow it.

The stud's attention was focused on heading towards the beach, which you had to go through to get to the plains. He was ready for a change of scenery anyways. He has not left the mountians in years... it was about time he left the past in the past, though a small tug of pain and guilt tugged at him the more he left the mountain side. Audits flicked at the sounds of thudding, he turned his frame some to see the mare cathcing up, he rolled his eyes almost playfully before looking forward once more. Her scent brisketed through his muzzle the closer she got, she smelled like sweet molasses and pine, how intriging.

Large hooves made a path in the snow leading them out of the mountains and on the pathway towards the beach, the more they walked, the less the snow was and became easier to walk in. He wasn't sure what he was getting his hooves into with his mare, but he figured least he could do was find her food and then go about on his own way... she did offer him the cave the other night, he wanted to repay the favor, which was not like him at all... or at least it wasn't anymore.

She followed quietly, keeping the same pace as him but staying behind him. She sighed happily, for the first time in a very long time she wasn't feeling alone anymore. Even though her gut told her it wasn't going to be like this for long, that he was just going to leave and abandon her at any chance he had. She still hung to the last bit of hope that maybe, just maybe he would have a change of heart at some point. It was already starting to seem that way. Who was she kidding, she knew better than to think anyone would possibly want her. He was probably just trying to return the favor, after all, it was the least he could do. Lead her to food because she gave him somewhere to sleep for the night. She sighed again in deep thought as she watched the way he moved. His muscles flexed and rippled beneath his movements. She was even closer this time and was really able to notice his features. He was handsome even through the scars. His scent was spicy, alluring to her. It made something turn inside of her, something awaken that she never realized was there before. Was she attracted to him?

The pair of equines walked for miles in the rocky terrian of the mountains covered in snow, though in some places the snow was melting, which made it easier on their hooves and legs. They were pretty quiet, some would say awkwardly quiet, the studs audits would flick at every little sound he heard, sometimes eyeing the mare in the corner on his hues to see if she was still there and of course she still was. Red hues glanced to the ground, why didn't he speak? why didn't she? why couldn't he think of anything to say? the thoughts rang through his head, as he pressed them forward. Snorting softly as he could feel the pain in his legs start to stir up. Before, he caught sight of a nearby river.

Ah, there was hope, they hadn't had any water in a while, for the stallion it was the morning before he first laid his eyes on the mare that following afternoon. He had been craving the wet liquid so badly, his lips were so dry they could probably crack off his muzzle and turn to dust. "Water!" he nickered with a hint of happiness in his tone, he turned to look at the mare quickly, before he took off in a canter towards the stream letting out a small buck of glee, audits perked in the bit of wind that was being created around him, his plumage flagged behind him, his knees softly popping with each large stride he took. His heart was racing, he was soooo happy, he was sooo thristy, he was so ready to plung into the cool waters. He came to a sliding hault with his red hues wide open, it was like he was frozen in place, nostrils flaring with his heavy breathing, as the cold air stung his throat with each deep breathe, as his expression soon fell from his frame, audits pinned upset and confused as he stared unbelieved at the completly frozen over lake, letting out a sigh, he stomped the ground in anger "Dam" he hissed with a clack of his teeth, as his brows furrowed. He would have to try and break the ice in order for them to drink, this make his body tense and his plumage strike his side with annoyance.
