Sage just hummed lightly and nodded when the girl joked back, flashing her a sort of friendly smile and wandered over to work the machine, pouring her the cup of coffee and then back to her, handong the cul over alongside the small bowls they had cream, sugar, and spoons and such in. "Have at it," he chirped, sliding past her to give some other customers their drinks. Once that was done, he moved back to the kitchen to grab some more food orders and pass those out, continuing the cycle as time passed. It seemed to go slowly, but whatever. He felt....ok for once. And it was quite nice. (Bit short I'm heading out)

Sage had fallen into the pattern he always did...kitchen, food, checkin, orders, and then back around again. Over and over again. Of course, when the girl stopped him, he sort of cocked his head before realizing he didn't know who she was either. "I'm sage," he noted lightly. "And you?" Once she told him he simply nodded and offered her a friendly smile. "Nice to meet you," he hummed. "stop by anytime," he added before sweeping off again to tend to someone who had already passed put on the table in the corner of the room. He never really understood why people drank.... especially to the point where they passed out. It just caused so many issues, and even though he wished something would take all his pain away, a drink certainly wasn't going to do it for him. Besides serving them, he made a point to stay as far away from it as possible....the way his father drank and treated him along with how the customers at the tavern acted made sure of that.

Sage nodded lightly when she responded, tucking the name and her face into the back of his mind. He didn't know her well .. and they certainly weren't what either of them would call friends....but she was nice to him, and he could talk with her for a bit if he ever saw her again. It seemed like she was just visiting, as he'd never seen her around before, but he found himself hoping she'd be back. He wasn't sure why....but he was. It was strange, to be honest, but soon enough the thoughts left his mind as he just worked at doing his job. The hours went by quickly, and soon enough everyone had left the tavern, and he went about wiping off tables and such as he cleaned up everyone's mess. - That took a few hours, and then he had some time before he had to be in the next morning, so he went home. Liz was already asleep, but it was nice to just be able to settle down nearby his daughter and see her. Especially to see her happily resting in her pile of blankets. He missed her while he was working, he really did. Edited at August 20, 2024 10:32 AM by NightClan

Sage had settled down for the night, and had wound up falling asleep where he was sitting in the corner. He was only out for a few hours, and was woken when Liz crawled into his lap... apparently she'd woken briefly and wanted to crawl come over. He didn't blame her ....he was almost never home, and he did feel and about it but he didn't have much of a choice. He simply wrapped his arms around her, soft smile on his face as she went back to sleep on his chest. She was barely a year old, and despite him never really being around, she always seemed to be happy. Forgive whatever he may have done wrong. It was certainly nice to know how much she still loved him. - He stayed with her the rest of the night, and took the time in the morning to get her ready for the day and off to class. Well, it was more like a daycare since she was so young, but they taught some things. And it kept her away from his drunk father. A lot of his money went to that....mostly tips from rooms, really. But he'd never gotten a good education, and he couldn't teach her anything himself even if he had the time to do so. So, this gave her the best chance of having a good life. He had to hurry in to work after that, and went back to his normal schedule of taking orders, getting food, and trying to avoid anyone flirting with him or hitting or throwing food or ... basically any communication with people he didn't need to have.

Sage had started to go about his day on the tavern, handing out plates and making sure customers all got what they wanted to get. As in, mostly drinks. The bar was full the entire day, which wasn't abnormal but still rather annoying in his opinion....people didn't need to get that drunk all the time, did they? Apparently, they thought so. - The day went by slower than normal....maybe it was because he knew he'd been assigned to a room that night, and he really wasn't pleased with it. He knew what was coming, and he was trying to make everything take as long as possible. Without making customers mad, that was. That never ended well for him. Of course, the owner obviously felt he was going to slow, since he now bore a nasty bruise and cut on his cheek bone from his cane. Which was really just a big stick, but either way it hurt. And he figured it would hurt for a while.
