Mari watched in horror as the man fell, but by then she'd already rushed to Sages side, trying to say some sort of comforting words to let him know he was alright in some way... though, she knew he wasn't. His eyes were still wide... and he looked as though he'd seen a ghost, though it obviously worse. She assumed he'd rather take the ghost. She slipped to the side when the Doctor rushed over and sat back a little, letting him take over... she didn't know what had happened to the poor boy. She didn't want to know. But she did want him to be alright... do feel safe with them, as safe as he could feel.

Sage was barely aware of the girl and the doctor, though he leaned into the doctor slightly when the man wrapped him up in a gentle hug. His breathing was still jerky, but he managed to nod he was alright and get to his feet once the doctor helped him up. His head still seemed to whirl in circles, and everything hurt, a lot, but...the doctor and Mari were here, so he just sort of blindly leaned against whichever one of them was closest to him. He was afraid his father would rise from the floor and do... something. He'd killed the man...he knew that...but it seemed like it would never happen. It was odd, really. He jumped about out of his skin when he heard voices outside the cabin, and whirled to get away, to get anywhere, but the doctor grabbed him, not letting him go deeper into the little shack. "We have to go," he urged him gently, knowing it was a lot. Sage nodded, though he looked sort of like a cornered rabbit, shaking and eyes wide.

The young woman looked around with a soft sigh when the boy seemed to settle against the doctor. Sage.. he was okay. Well, he was alive, at least. When the doctor stood up to check the drunks pulse, to make sure he was dead, she wrapped her arms gently around his shoulders to make sure he was actually still with her... not passed out or anything. She was so worried she'd do something to scare him, to freak him out... but she didn't think he'd ever get himself into a worse state than he was now. "You're alright," she promised gently as she patted his shoulder. When the doctor mentioned leaving, she nodded and helped him get the boy up. In about an hour or so, they were all back to the castle, and she'd made sure to give Sage something extra for the pain while the doctor saw to him... she continued with her normal jobs l, despite being so completely and utterly scared for him. She just wanted to make sure he was alright... but the doctor was doing that for the time being.

The rest of the time, admittedly, was a blue for sage. He wasn't really sure what all happened on the way back to the castle, or what the guards said when they did get back. For once, he swallowed whatever the doctor gave him without question and wasn't fidgety while he cleaned all the scratches and put stuff on the wounds to keep our infection and whatever else needed to get done. He was just glad to get wrapped up in warm blankets and sleep. The doctor gave him something that, hopefully, would knock him into a deep enough sleep that he wouldn't have any nightmares for a while...he needed the rest. He sat down in a chair to watch the boy, who had by then curled up in a tight ball and was breathing softly, though there was still a slight rattle in the boy's weary lungs. No doubt Mari would stop by in a bit, and he'd have her stay....he didn't want the boy alone, as much as was possible. Another guard could walk the cart around and stuff, but the two liked eachother, so he thought the girl would be best to keep near sage rather than some guard. Sage would fight that, but not Mari, he didn't think.

The girl admittedly rushed all of her smaller jobs. She made food for everyone, just something quick like sausages and mash. She didn't think Sage would want to eat, but she made something for him, too... just incase. She made sure everything was sorted... in order before she went to check on the boy. The doctor was still, but she did feel a bit at fault about this whole thing... she should have been there for him. She'd woken up to the commotion, so she could have gone and stopped... whatever happened from happening. She wondered if Sage would blame her for that, too... she didn't care, she just wanted to see he was fine. She poked her head though the little curtain door to greet the boy with a small smile... though he seemed to be asleep, or he was being so still that it seemed that way. She looked to the doctor, eyes slightly furrowed as she walked in. "Is he doing alright?"

The doctor glanced over at the girl when she walked in a hummed with a nod. "For now. I gave him something to knock him out," he sighed. "I don't want him to be alone...not until I can trust him. Why don't you stay with him, as your job for now? You can still cook...but bring him with, since he likes it too. Someone else can bring the cart around." It wasn't like he didn't trust the boy not to run off or anything, but he didn't trust the boys mind. He didn't know what would happen if he freaked out and was alone, and he didn't want to find out. "He'll be a bit slow for a while, but I think he'll come around, especially with you here." He frowned slightly then. "You don't have to stay overnight if you don't want to though." He supposed he could stay with the boy, if need be.

The girl looked at him with a slightly cocked head... in truth, she wasn't sure if she'd be able to just sit with the boy all day... she needed something to do. But, she supposed this was something to do... looking after him. And she did rather like the boy. She'd been wanting to go home that night, but she felt like she should stay... she'd only ever been taught how to serve, and if her job was to be with him... then she supposed that meant she was technically serving him. And she could do that without an issue. "Yeah, I can do that," she murmured quietly. She supposed Sage would only really want to go down to the yards anyway now... and she'd come to quite like it down there, but that was just because he was there. She just liked being with the boy - having a friend, she supposed. "I was going to go home, but I can stay here if you need it. I am technically meant to be in the castle anyway," she told him with a small sigh.

The doctor nodded thankfulky and then pursed his lips slightly. "Are you sure? You can go home if you want," he told the girl. "You could bring him with if you really wanted, but in a few days when I know what you'd be dealing with," he hummed. He knew the girl loved her family ...and he didn't mind her going to be with them, not at all. A family situation may be good for the boy too, if she decided to do that, but it was really just up to her. He stood up and patted the girl on the shoulder with a weary sigh. "I might take a nap too," he hummed. "I didn't expect this much excitement in one morning," he chuckled.

Mari nodded slightly before giving a soft sigh. "I'll stay here tonight... then I'll go home and see if we have the space for him," she murmured lightly. Her brothers were likely to be exited have someone else there, anyway... but she'd have to convince her mother it was a good idea. She was saving to buy her own little place, but it wasn't likely to happen in the next few years, not on the salary she was earning. But she did think Sage might like being with a group of close nitt people for a whole... get that sense of family that you just couldn't get in the castle. She smiled to the doctor when he walked off and gave a nod. "Sleep well. Will I be seeing you later? Or should I close up here?" She asked with a cocked head. She didn't mind... but she would probably just stay in the ward until the next day, if that's what the doctor preferred.

The doctor chuckled and shrugged. "I'll stop by once or twice, to check in on him. He'll most likely be asleep for a while, though the boy has an extraordinary ability to work off medicine early even though he's shaped like sticks," he huffed. The boy wasn't quite that skinny, but whatever. He'd be asleep for a good while, though. "you can gather any stuff you want once I come back," he mused. 'do you think you can manage here for a couple hours?" She would, And he knew that, but he could tease all the same. "You should rest too...you had a fright as well." He shrugged slightly. "You can use the chair, or the bed if you prefer. He won't mind, and we can always roll another bed in here later on if you want that instead." He left then, to leave the girl alone.
