Mari nodded quietly to the boy and gave a soft smile. "I slept alright," she murmured as she looked out the window to see what he was looking at... although there wasn't really much to see. "I take it you didn't? I woke up to you at my feet," she told him with a slight frown on her face. "You should have just woken me up or gotten in with me... I wouldn't have minded, as long as it helped," she told the boy gently as she perched on the side of his bed, just trying to figure out what their day would look like... Sage didn't seem to be in the best of ways, so she took it he wouldn't up for doing much.

Sage nodded and then shrugged, a light blush finding it's way to his face at the girl's next comment. "Sorry," he hummed rather sheepishly. "I figured if just coming over there helped a bit there was no need to wake you up," he admitted before shifting, a slight wince coming to his face. The pain meds were starting to take hold, but it still hurt quite a bit. He wanted to go down to the barn, and see the horses, but he probably wouldn't make it down there. Besides, getting up and out of bed was a lot of work and he didn't quite feel like doing that.

The girl shook her head a little before cocking her head towards the boy. "I'm sure you would have been more comfortable there than curled up like some dog though, hmm?" She asked the boy before grabbing the water that she'd felt him the night before and emptying and refilling it. "But I'm glad that made you feel better," she told him gently before looking back to the boy. "You feel okay today? Or are you a bit wabbly," she asked quietly before going over to the bed in the corner before making it up again, then went to sit in the corner chair. "Is there anything you'd like for breakfast today?"

Sage shrugged slightly and yawned. "I didn't want to crawl into bed with you and make you uncomfortable," he hummed, reaching for the water she handed him and taking a few sips. "I feel about the normal, now that pain meds have kicked in. Well, maybe a bit worse than normal, but not much," he mused. "I'm tired, I don't feel like doing much. Well, I do...I wanna go to the barn, but I don't wanna like... Get up and actually go. And getting out drawing stuff seems like too much work," he huffed. "Zoning out the window is fine." It was bad, and he knew it, but....well, he didn't know how to finish that. "And I'm not hungry. Surprise surprise right," he snorted. Then his face softened slightly. "Thanks though." The girl furrowed her brows at him and shook her head slightly. "Well if you sit there and do nothing then you're just going to get stuck in your head... and from what I've heard, that's not a nice place to be," she told him quietly. Maybe she could find a little puzzle or some cards to play with... they could do something simple like snap. Or if she could convince him then they could just go and sit down by a tree outside and watch the horses for a little while. "I can help you get up... it's not a long walk, and if you wanted to go see the horses then I'm sure that'd be nice to sit and watch them for a while," she told him gently.

Sage shrugged and sighed slightly. "No, but I don't feel like doing much else," he groaned, shaking his head. 'its a vicious circle." He cocked his head slight at the girl's suggestion and then sighed with a nod. "Fine...I'll probably have to sit down and catch my breath though," he admitted. He reached his hand out, knowing he'd probably need her help to get up and out the door.

Mari took his hands to help get him up, and kept one hand on his back to keep him a bit more supported. "That's fine. Just let me know when you need to stop and we can," she hummed, trying to be as up beat as she could for him... she wondered if he noticed when she tried to make things a bit brighter for him, or if it made any difference. It seemed like whenever she tried to understand what he was going though she just made it worse for him... he got snappy or he zoned out or... something. Would being brighter for him ever work? She wasn't even sure, but she'd keep on doing that, just incase it did.

Sage nodded and grunted as he got up and off of the bed, then as an after thought he reached for the blanket and pulled it around his shoulders before asking the girl "ready?" When she confirmed she was, he sort of started wandering off, though the girl quickly realized and stayed right with him. About halfway there though, he sat down with a wheeze. "Gimme five," he huffed out, flopping over onto his back with a weary sigh. Edited at February 5, 2023 03:20 PM by NightClan

Mari walked with the boy as far as he could until he had to sit down... that was fine, she was happy to wait. They stopped for about five or so minutes before she helped him up and pulled the blankets around his shoulders a little tighter as they walked out to the pastures... the guards had definitely been doing a good job of looking after the fields... they were all spotless, and there were piles of hay spotted around the fields. She helped him into Chaos's little pasture before wandering over to the trees and flopping down. She was quiet for a moment as she let the boy catch his breath before looking over at him with a cocked head, trying to think of some sort of conversation. "Are you a dog person or a cat person?" She asked out fo the blue, her usual friendly smile across her face.

Sage was more than content to lay there as he caught his breath, though thankfully the girl helped him up again later. He might have just stayed there if it was up to him, since he was exhausted. But it was worth it when he got to the paddocks, he supposed, and he could clambor up onto the stallions back and lay there. He felt a grin split his face for the first time in a while, and he definitely felt much, much better. He hummed slightly at the girl's question and then shrugged. "Dunno. Never really had a chance to have either one. Only dogs or cats I saw were strays who were mangy and we're fighting to death for a scrap of food." He chuckled slightly. "Reminds me of the people."
