Iris could sense his betrayed thoughts and knew she needed to say it. Finally, she said, "I was worried you wanted Carmen back. I thought you might have been using me to make her jealous. I don't know why I thought it, there was no reason, but once I got it in my head it wouldn't get out, and I worried and worried and decided you never liked me and still liked her which makes sense because I'm nobody and no one would ever like me and you're so great but I don't deserve you and you should have someone like Carmen who actually knows what their doing and isn't obsessed with school and grades like me--" The words tumbled from her mouth like a tidal wave, having been held back for so long. She stopped, realizing she'd just said everything that was on her mind. She dropped Caden's hand and looked away, tears forming in her eyes. |

Caden was somewhat hurt at her words, having never expected them from Iris. "Iris... i've told you I never want her again before, and i'd choose you over her a dozen times over. You're so much better, prettier, nicer, smarter, funnier, than her." He murmured softly, grabbing her hand again and brushing his thumb over her knuckles. |

Iris just gave a weak nod, letting him take her hand but not reacting. She knew she'd been wrong to assume all that and should have trusted Caden. She knew he would never do that. The one thing she knew she was right about was that she didn't deserve Caden. She didn't know why he liked her in the first place. She liked him too, but it felt wrong to be with someone so much better than she was. Iris finally gave in and let her tears breach. They were quiet tears, but copious, and she found herself crying into Caden's shoulder, shaking with sobs. |

Caden held her when she started crying, wiping her tears every so often. It broke something in him to see her like this, crying and not the cheerful and happy Iris he knew. He rubbed her back slowly, trying to be comforting yet unsure if he was or not. |

Iris kept crying. She cried because she had been wrong. She cried because she didn't deserve Caden. She cried because, even in his arms, Iris felt terribly lonely. A few minutes later, her well had run dry. She lifted her head and rubbed her eyes, sure they were red from tears. "I'm sorry," she said, looking down at the table. |

Caden held her through it all, not holding anything against her just because she was crying. "It's alright," He assured softly, the man's arms lingering around her a little longer. |

"Thank you," Iris breathed, voice a little hoarse. She noted how comfortable she felt with him, like she didn't have to say anything and could still be considered sane. But still present in front of the comfort was guilt and worry, holding back the comfort with their taunts. |

"Of course, you're there for me so i'm here for you. Though, i'd be here for you even if you didn't care about me." Caden noted, the past awkwardness having melted away ages ago. (brain died lmaoo) |

(all good :P) . "I'm sorry for thinking those things and not talking to you about it, I was just really scared." Iris admitted, still not meeting his gaze. |

"It's fine, I thought I did want Carmen back then she talked to me once and I changed my mind real quick." He murmured with a tone of hatred towards the woman, yet softness when he spoke of Iris. |
