The girl looked at the boy when he reached over to give the cat a fuss, a big grin on her face as the little thing started to roll onto her back for a belly rub. "Silly thing," she muttered softly before flopping her head onto Sage's shoulder and looking towards the clock... it was nearing five, so she took it everyone would be home soon... her little brother was probably playing on the streets somewhere, would be back any moment... or, well, hopefully. Sh found herself so exited for them to meet Sage... as the doctor said, it'd be good for him to be in a family setting for a bit.

Sage chuckled when the cat rolled over, more than happy to rub his hand along the animals belly. The little rumble that came from her throat seemed to make him just feel so...happy. there really wasn't any other way to say it. It just made him feel nice. He grinned over at the girl when she rested her head on his shoulder, finding himself glad to have had some time with the girl to get used to a house. And, well...meeting the cat and cooking was nice too. He was eager to meet her family though....maybe a bit nervous as to how they'd react since most people became nasty once they found out his rank, but the girl didn't seem to care, so maybe her family wouldn't either.

The girl sat for a little while, just enjoying the peace... she didn't think it'd stay quiet for long, not once everyone filed in. It still felt odd to have the boy in her house... the only thing she'd ever brought back from the castle was leftovers. It was just weird to see the same person she'd only ever seen in the castle in her home. She had to say she was a little nervous about what her eldest brother would say about it, though... she did think that they'd get along, but he was also very protective over her. Well, she was his little sister, but she was also an adult... and it wasn't like anything would happen between the two of them. After about ten minutes, she heard the pitter-patter of little feet and giggles running up to the house she sat up a little bit and put a ready smile on, though was being careful not to let the cat slip off her knees. The young boy ran through towards his room before realising that Mari was sitting there... it was almost as if he didn't see Sage for a moment, and just ran up to her with an ecstatic expression on his face, and jumped up to ask what she was doing... the girl briefly explained that Sage would be staying for a little bit, to which he looked to Sage and kind of his behind the girl's leg, his excited look turning into a more nervous expression. Mari shook her head and patted the child's back, a kind of comforting look on her face. "Sage, this is Xander," she hummed softly. The boy said a quiet hello before scurrying off again back to his room. The girl huffed out a breath before sighing. "He's nervous, is all," she murmured before going back to playing with the cat. "He'll be fine in a little bit." She promised lightly.

Sage smiled at the young boys enthusiasm to see his sister, remembering how Lizzie would run up to him at one point in time. He waved slightly at the boy, admittedly probably just as nervous, he just didn't have the ability to hide behind someone. "It's all right, I don't blame him," he hummed. He knew he tended to not look very friendly sometimes...the scars tended to scare off quite a few people. But the boy would probably come around.... Mari did, and so had Anya and Luther. "Let him get used to having me around, don't push him to get to know me," he hummed lightly. (Bit short)

The girl nodded in agreement. "He's actually quite bubbly once he gets comfortable with you. He's always been shy," she hummed gently. "Give him a brownie and see if you can trick him into befriending him later on. He's a bit like you in that way... you need to get his trust, I suppose," she joked lightly before looking back towards Sage with a smile. "Anthony is a little more outgoing. He might be a bit easier for you to get on with to start with," she hummed lightly. She then went back to resting her head on his shoulder as she trailed her finger around in front of the cat as it started trying to grab it with her paws.

Sage chuckled and nodded. He could definitely understand the younger boys shyness...there want anything wrong with trusting people before getting to know them. He did the same thing. "He'll come around," he hummed. He did wonder what Anthony would think....but it couldn't be too awful, not with the girl here.

The girl found herself a little bit bored after a bit and shoved the cat to Sage before waddling into her room and reappearing with a chess set. She put it on a little coffee table for later on that night... they might not use it but it was there if they wanted it. It seemed so quiet for a little while until she heard the slightly heavier footsteps of her eldest brother... the man wandered through the door with a bit of a sigh, stomping his feet on the porch to clean his boots before kicking them off his feet. He looked just like Mari - same dark hair and green eyes, only he was a bit more worn from work than she was. The first person he saw when he walked through the door was Sage, and he looked about ready to kill until he saw Mari setting out plates. "Look whos back," the girl hummed lightly before grinning at the man. Anthony continued to eye Sage though, then simply cocked his head. "You have a friend?" He asked with a bit of a chuckle. "Surprising," the man teased before wandering over to the brownie tray and grabbing one before Mari could stop him. "No, he's a patient in the castle. The doctor I'm working for said it would be a good thing for him to be in a more family setting, so he's here," she hummed before looking over to Sage with a grin. "You can talk to him. He's friendly, I promise," she teased her brother before going back to setting up.

Sage glanced over at Anthony when he came in the door, and while the boy was glaring at him, he sort of just kept stroking the cat. Mari spoke up though, and the boy acted a bit more friendly after that. Sage couldn't help but be amused by the fact that the boy stole a brownie, and he gave the other boy a sort of friendly smile. He nodded in response to Mari's explanation of why he was in the house. "I would shake your hand, except if I stop letting the cat shell yell at me until I let her again," he hummed in a rather amused tone of voice. "I'm Sage. I assume you're the popular Anthony I hear so much about." The last part was really a joke...trying to loosen any tension in the air. And Mari did talk about him a lot, so it was true.

The man looked back to his sister when the other mentioned he'd heard lots about him, a big grin on his face that pretty much reflected her own. "Yep!" He chirped lightly as he looked back to the boy. His previous look then became a bit brighter... in truth he'd thought the boy had broken in or something, so he'd been pretty much ready to give his life to look after his home. Looking at him now, though, he wouldn't have caused much damage, if any. He glared at the cat for a moment when the other boy said he was the reason for not being able to shake his hand. He then huffed and flopped down on a chair at the dining table. "What's for dinner?" He asked with a cocked head as he rested his head on the table. Mari grinned to the two of them and started to pour drinks for everyone. "Stuffed peppers!" She chirped exitedly. "Have you seen our mother today? I don't want to start without her," the girl then huffed. It was that and she didn't want to be stuck in a house by herself with three other people who'd make a mess of the place within a couple of hours. The man shook his head and looked up again. "Not since this morning. She works until late now," he huffed. Mari gave a bit of a groan and rubbed her forehead once she was done setting up and perched on one of the chairs. "Right, go get a shower because you're covered in soot then we can eat," she told her brother with a soft huff as he stood up and wandered off.

Sage was, admittedlu, much more relaxed when Anthony's expression relaxed. He definitely felt a bit relieved...the guy no longer looked like he was ready to punch the living daylights out of him. Which was good, considering he could probably do that pretty easily, given the size and weight difference. Plus, sage was holding the cat, and he wouldn't want to drop her. Though, she'd probably be fine. He chuckled slightly at Mari's bossiness and waited for Anthony to wander off before looking back at Mari and cocking his head slightly. "He seems nice," he hummed. "And don't worry, we have plenty of peppers to leave for your mom," he chuckled lightly.
