The girl shook her head slightly to the boy and gave a bit of a yawn. "No, you need space," she murmured with a bit of a smile. "And a bed... you're still the doctors patient so I need to look after you," she added lightly as she looked over to her mother. The woman was pouring out some kind of porridge for everyone, and gave the girl a grin when she spotted her. Mari smiled lightly back before wrapping her arms around Sages side for a moment, clearly a little sleepy still... she'd wake up once she'd eaten, she was sure. "Did you sleep alright though?" Mari asked with a cocked head. "I know the bed isn't the comfiest but it's the best I can do for you," She hummed gently, knowing it was nowhere as nice as the beds in the ward. Sage shrugged lightly. "We've slept in the same room before, I don't really mind," he hummed. Then he chuckled. "Yeah, but I'm not your patient, so you don't have to babysit all the time," he noted with a rather amused tone of voice. "But yes, I slept fine," he hummed. "Anything is nice as long as it's not cold, wet, or like...I dunno, the street itself." He nodded slightly and gave the girl a smile. "I slept fine."

The girl gave a bit of a nod to the boy when he assured her that it was fine... good, all she wanted was for him to be comfortable. "No, you're not my patient, but you're my friend. And I work for the doctor. If you'd had a bad experience or anything happened to you, I'd loose my job and my head, I'm sure of it," she mused with a soft chuckle before sitting up and patting his head in amusement. She was pleased to know he'd slept okay, though. She knew the little shack they lived in wasn't exactly the most comfortable. After a couple of moments, Anthony walked in, his eyes barely open yet as he flopped down on the couch next to her. "Look who's awake," she hummed as she poked the man's side, though he just groaned a little and rested his head on the back of the sofa... it wasn't long until they'd have breakfast, though, so everyone would wake up a bit more with time.

Sage chuckled and nodded in response to the girl's comment. "I suppose I can deal with you," he hummed in a rather joking manner. Then he shrugged. "I think if I got myself hurt or killed out here the doctor would kill me myself," he chuckled. He felt a grin form on his face when the girl peeled herself away from him to poke her older brother...it was rather amusing, really. He was sure breakfast would give everyone some energy, though.

Anthony scoffed when the other man mentioned dealing with his sister. In truth, the girl could be unbearable... especially when she was trying to make people happy. She was just too much. He loved her, of course he did, but it was the truth. "You'd the the first," he groaned as he rubbed his forehead. Her mother, Edith, eventually came over with a couple of bowls full of porridge for the four of them, and a bowl on the sides... she'd cut up fruit and chucked some blueberries on the side of the try for them to add if they felt like it, along with sugar and honey. The woman didn't seem to speak much... but she was nice enough when spoken too.

Sage chuckled slightly at Anthony's remark and thanked their mother shyly when she handed him the bowls of food. It smelled good, and he'd always eat the fruit. He made a mental note to finish the food, though...his usual appetite wasn't much food, but he didn't want to make the woman feel unappreciated or like he didn't like her cooking. He did, he just wasn't used to eating so much. But either way, he dug into the food with the rest of them. It was rather quiet at first while they ate, until Xander piped up here and there or the cat meowed from his lap. He was using his hands to eat, which the cat didn't seem to like since it meant he wasn't petting her, but eventually she curled up in his lap and watched him carefully, ready to get him back to herself as soon as he was done.

Mari sat happily and ate whatever had been put out for them... in truth, they didn't normally have breakfast, but she supposed they had a guest, so she didn't think the woman would be too inclined to make the boy starve. Really, if you were to look at the family they were all quite thin... not unhealthily so, but they weren't really in the best of conditions, and that was Mari included, despite the fact she got food whenever the people in the castle ate. She was thin because of endless stress and work, though... the rest of her family didn't really have the luxury of eating the way she did. Edith sat quietly for a little while, really just enjoying food. To be honest, the woman hadn't spoken much after the death of her husband, not even to her children... though, they weren't really children other than Xander now. But it was cheaper for them all to live together and safer. Mari looked at Sage with a cocked head when the cat started to ask for attention, and Anthony seemed amused by it too. "You can put her down, you know you don't have to be constantly fussing her," Mari told him with a bit of a giggle once she'd done.

Sage glanced over at the girl and chuckled slightly, nodding response to her comment. "I know," he hummed. "But she's sweet so she can sit there." He looked down at the cat, who pricked her ears forward when she heard his voice. It brought a slight chuckle to his face, and he finished the bowl before setting it to the side and reaching over to pat the cats head. Admittedly, the animal brought quite a bit of comfort...creature comfort if you will. Because even though he was surrounded by people, he only really knew Mari. But the cat he knew he could trust and get along with. That seemed to not be enough for the animal though, as she practically crawled into his arms, so he chuckled again and shifted so he could just hold the thing. He glanced out the window and sort of absentmindedly stroked the cat while he held her, occasionally reaching for a piece of fruit. But he wasn't going to stuff himself either...he was well aware that they didn't have much, and he understood that well. He would quite honestly be fine if their mother didn't want him there because it was another person to feed. After all, even his own mother was like that, so why would he expected her to think any different? Especially when she didn't know him. She was nice enough though, so that was all he could ask for, he supposed.

The older boy scoffed a little at him when he let the cat sit. "She's only here to catch mice, you know," Anthony murmured, to which little Xander glared at his brother. Really, they'd gotten the cat for him once their father had passed. The boy was maybe about a year old at the time, so it hadn't made too much of a difference to him... but Mari and Anthony had found the animal while playing in the streets one day, and the only way they'd managed to convince their grieving mother to let them have the cat was by them saying that it was for their baby brother so that he'd have a friend. And the animal just never really left. But even the man could admit that the animal was very sweet. "You know, he said he might steel the animal before we came over here. I'm actually a little worried that he might now," Mari teased softly before rolling her eyes, to which the youngest of the siblings then looked at him with wide eyes, almost as if asking if it was true.

Sage chuckled lightly at the siblings teasing and shrugged lightly. "Does it actually catch anything," he asked. "Seems rather fond of just laying around to me," he hummed in a rather amused tone. Sage rolled his eyes at Mari's comment and nudged her gently. "See, now you've scared your brother," he teased her back. "Don't worry kiddo, you can keep the cat," he assured the boy, his voice still laced with amusement. He gave Mari a rather amused look, then shifted slightly so he was leaning his back against the couch, still cradling the cat, who had by then practically fallen asleep in his arms, her head resting in his elbow and a paw and tail hanging off the side of his arms.
