Sage followed the girl to the center of the market happily. He hadn't been there before, when he could actually get something sweet. Anya had brought chocolate for him and Liz once, years ago, and that was about it. So, he was really excited about this...but so was the girl, so it was pretty valid he thought. He grinned at the girl when she gave him the money and looked around for a minute before pointing over to a tiny stand off to the side a bit. "We could share a bunt cake," he suggested lightly. "What's your favorite flavor? I'll try it." He'd never had one before, but they looked and smelled good, and they were a good size to share, so ....why not?

The girl shrugged slightly when he asked what flavour she liked... to be honest, she never really brought treats. She made them when she could, but she was limited as to what resources she had when it came to cooking... well, she supposed that was the issue. She could cook, but she couldn't bake for the life of her. She didn't really get the chance to have a favourite, though, the most she normally got was chocolate or vanilla... but that was just cake in general, never a bunt cake in particular. "Uhmm... I don't know. Chocolate, maybe?" She asked with almost a shy-looking smile. She was excited, though, to try something new... and you could see it on her face.

Sage chuckled at the girl's question, and then giggled a bit louder at her smile. He wasn't used to seeing the girl shy like that, and he sort of wondered why, but he nodded anyway. "Chocolate sounds good to me," he chirped, wandering over to the stall to grab the cake before wandering back to the girl. "where do you wanna eat," he hummed. "if we bring it back we might have to share with Xander. I don't mind, but it's a point," he hummed. He could share with Xander, he didn't mind, but being alone just the two of them was.... appealing. He wasn't quite sure why, but he supposed that was kind of normal...wanting to be alone with a friend while they spent time together.

The girl chuckled quietly and gave an understanding nod. "Hm... we don't have to tell him about our little treat, do we?" She then looked thoughtful before shrugging. "There's a fountain in the town centre... can we go sit there? It's really pretty," the girl hummed lightly as she watched the woman in the stand hand the boy the cake. She murmured something about putting an extra bit of cake in the bag for the young couple... the girl couldn't help the blush on her face. That was the second time that day... did they really look like they were together? And did people really feel the need to comment on it? She didn't know, but it put a goofy grin on her face and a pretty bright blush. She just kind of thanked the woman once Sage had taken the bag before looking to him to lead the way, her cheeks still bright.

Sage chuckled and shook his head. "I suppose not," he hummed lightly, taking the bag and nodding thoughtfully at Mari's suggestion on where to eat. "Why not," he decided. "Pretty fountain thing it is!" He felt a blush cover his cheeks when he heard the woman's comment, though he made no move to argue with her...he just thanked her and headed on his way, a dumb grin on his face. When had that popped up? No matter, it wasn't unusual for that to happen when he was with Mari. He wasn't sure why people kept calling them a couple ...they weren't...but of course others didn't know that. And, well...it kind of made him feel happy to hear them say it. Maybe they would be one day...if he could manage to let himself feel like that again. But for now, it wasn't a date date, it was a date as friends, if that even made sense at all.

Mari nodded and followed him along to the fountain, though she still had a light blush across her face, though more of a grin still washed across her face. She had to say, it was almost... nice to hear, in a way. She didn't feel that way about the boy... well, did she? She wasn't at all sure, but she certainly enjoyed being around him. Soon enough, the girl perched on the edge of the fountain and placed the little basket on the floor before looking at the boy with a grin clearly excited to try the new treat... she wasn't a huge sweet treat fan, but she was a little bit giddy to try something new.

Sage wandered along to the fountain happily, sitting down next to the girl, though he left a bit of space in-between them to set the dessert down in. That way they could both reach it easily. He grinned back at the girl, eyes twinkling. He wasn't sure why he was so excited about this.. but he was, and it felt nice to feel so light. Besides, he was excited to try the cake too...he'd only had sweets like this two other times...one when Anya had given him and Liz chocolate and the other during Christmas at the castle. But this was no special occasion...they just wanted a treat for the two of them. It was nice. And...once he took a bite, he was surprised at how delicious it was. He wasn't sure what he'd expected, but it certainly wasn't this. It was almost better than the castles fancy stuff in a way.

Mari reached into the bag and pulled out a slice of the bunt cake and kind of looked at it with a cocked head. She had to admit, even in the stands it was funny-looking, but as soon as she took her bite her eyes seemed to light up. It was very good, and surprisingly not too sweet for her. She looked back towards the boy with a big grin once she'd finished the mouthful. "This is s good," she chirped in an almost excited tone. "We need to learn how to make this," she added with a chuckle before shaking her head. "That way we can make it without being mistaken for a couple by coming out here," she told him with a laugh. Sage was rather amused by the girl's curious look when she pulled out the cake, though he completely agreed with her that it tasted good, so he nodded and grinned. He finished the bit that was in his mouth, still nodding, and hummed "I think this would be fun to make and then even more fun to eat." The last part was really just a joke, even if it was quite true. But it would be a nice little dessert for the family. Goodness knows they could use some energy. Well, except for Xander maybe, who seemed to absorb everyone else's energy. He had plenty for everyone. But this one was all theirs....and he quite liked it. "It can't be all that complicated to bake," he hummed. "It doesn't look much different than a regular cake." He shrugged slightly, taking another bite as he thought. "I suppose if you wanted we could ask the lady selling them what goes in them on the way back," he mused.

The girl nodded with a bit of a laugh, "I think we'd make a mess... we probably need some kind of bowl or something," she hummed lightly before shaking her head. It would be fun, though... and it would probably be fun to mess around while making it, too. "They probably have one of those circle trays in the castle we can steal whenever we get back," she hummed lightly. She nodded at his next comment... if they asked nicely enough then they might get a recipe... though people down here seemed to be very protective over their recipes, especially because they sold their food... it was how they made their money, and if people could make it themselves then they'd stop buying their bakes. But if they asked then they might get it.
