Sage giggled and shrugged at the girl's first comment. "Well it would be entertaining wouldn't it," he hummed before chuckling again and nodding. "I don't think the doctor would believe you helped. He'd probably just give me a look like what did you do now and then sigh and that would be it," he mused in a rather amused voice. He took another bite of cake before snickering and having to cover his mouth with his hand so he could laugh without choking. He swallowed and grinned at the girl widely. "I'm very responsible," he chirped. "Just not when it comes to me!" It was true too...he could take care of people, and help them, and support them, but when it was just him, he caved. He supposed he just couldn't handle himself sometimes.

The girl chuckled lightly and gave a bit of a nod to the boy in agreement. "Yeah, and he'd do that while he watched the castle burn down," she told him with an amused snicker before shaking her head. "But you'd get off lightly because he loves you," she purred in a mocking kind of tone before giving him yet another funny look as he almost choked on his cake, though the sight definitely made her laugh. She was having a good time with the boy, she really was... they'd need to get back soon because it was getting dark, but she didn't feel like she was in a rush the way she normally did. She felt safe, even though they were sitting in plain sight, which was a nice change. She then pouted at him in a playful manner before sighing. "Okay then, how about this... I'll be responsible for you, and you can be responsible for me," she hummed with a cocked head, clearly just joking about now.

Sage chuckled and shrugged. "He might wring my neck a bit but that's probably getting off lightly," he chuckled. He wrinkled his nose at the girl when she gave him an amused look as he almost choked, giving her an amused look right back. He was enjoying this, and while he knew they'd have to get back to the house soon, especially if they wanted to cook dinner, but...he didn't really want this to end. Yes, he wanted to get back soon, but this was nice. He gave the girl a crooked grin at her last comment and held his hand out to shake playfully. "Deal," he chirped. It was really all a joke, but there was some seriousness to it, of course.

The girl kind of grinned to the boy in an almost childish manner... it felt like she was making some sort of pact with a childhood friend, but it was fun all the same. And, she'd meant it... she'd take care of Sage, be there to listen whenever he needed it, or even if he just needed to sit in silence and have someone to anchor onto... well, then she'd be there for him. She got the feeling he'd be there for her, too. Soon enough, they'd scoffed the few slices of cake they had left, and the girl gave a bit of a groan and went to dip her fingers into the little fountain of water, then flicked the tiniest bit of it at Sage in a playful manner. "We should probably go," she told him with a small chuckle.

Sage have the girl a wide grin when they shook hands, a rather childish giggles coming from his lips the entire time. Once they'd finished the cake, he gathered the garbage and whatnot, then squealed when the girl splashed him, reaching an arm over to shove her gently. "Meanie," he huffed, though he was laughing as he said it. He nodded at the girl's comment and stood up, reaching a hand out to haul the girl to her feet before grabbing the basket full of groceries. "Let's go," he hummed. "Your whole family is probably home and getting hungry."

The girl couldn't stop her laugh when he called her a meanie... it was such a childish thing to say for, well, anyone, and she certainly hadn't expected it from the big bad Sage. "Meanie?" She repeated with a snicker, having to cover her mouth as she watched him start to bin the rubbish. She nodded and skipped over to him so that she was walking at his side. "Sage... did you just call me a meanie?" She asked with another laugh before shaking her head a little, clearly finding the little comment he made immensely amusing. "That's not very scary of you, now is it?" The girl mused after a moment or so.

Sage wrinkled his nose in a playfully manner when the girl repeated the phrase back at him, clearly amused by it. "Maybe I did and maybe I didn't," he hummed, grinning over at the girl once she had joined him. "I dont have to be scary with you, all I have to do is make you laugh so hard you'll fall over if I have to get away," he giggled, nudging the girl with his shoulder lightly, really just teasing her at that point. Though, it was true...he doubted he could do much to scare the girl, unless she was scared for him. But he could always make her laugh. "You're very easy to -" he broke of when a man jumped from the shadows, showing sage a knife as he went for the groceries. Sage sort of just continued walking and hit the man in the nose, in a way that most certainly killed him. "you're easy to amuse," he finished his sentence, stepping over the body casually. Ok, so maybe it was a bit concerning that something like that was so normal he didn't even bat an eye, but that's how it had happened so ...thats how it was gonna be, he supposed.

The girl shook her head at that boy and gave a bit of a laugh, which only really proved his point. "Knowing myself I'd laugh until I threw up," she chuckled before bumping his side as she walked. "But you shouldn't want to do that to me, because everyone knows you looove me," the woman joked as they walked along. "I'm not sure I want to see you in a mood... from what the doctor says you're actually very scary when you want to be," she mused lightly before poking him slightly. She hadn't seen it... and she wasn't sure she wanted to. They walked down the little alley towards their house for a bit, and she kind of sensed a pair of eyes on them, and it scared her a little bit. Within a blink of an eye, she saw the flash of a gun and a rather... rugged looking man lunging for the basket hooked over her arm. She flinched back, but by then she heard the snap of bone and watched the man fall back into the ground. Sage just seemed to wander off like nothing had happened, though she took a little bit longer to process it all. She'd seen things like this, so it wasn't exactly a shock, but she did have to bend down to check that he was, actually, dead. She then frowned a little bit more before standing up and stepping over the body and kind of walking along behind Sage until she'd caught up again. She just kind of stared at the hand he'd used to beat the man before sighing and shaking her head. "You okay?" She asked after a moment before looking at the boy with a cocked head.

Sage gave the girl a grin and nodded. "I can see you doing that," he hummed. He rolled his eyes at her next comment, letting out a teasing "you wish," though of course he did like the girl and enjoyed her company. He shrugged when the girl mentioned him being scary, and he sort of just hummed "I do what I have to." He glanced back at the girl when she knelt down next to the man to check if he was dead or not, though he did keep walking. "Don't worry, he's gone," he called back to the girl, and walked in silence for a moment until she asked if he was ok. He hummed and nodded, cocking his head curiously. "Why wouldn't I be? He didn't exactly get much of a chance to hurt me." The girl seemed fine too, which was good. He certainly didn't want her to be scared or hurt or anything like that.

The girl shook her head at him after a moment when the boy said he was fine... well, she supposed he didn't get in a brawl with the man... rather he just socked him in the nose and that was it. "Well, you just pushed someone's nose into their head-" she stated, having to cringe a little bit at the thought of that... it wasn't a nice image to have in your head. "That had to hurt," she murmured with a humourless chuckle. It wasn't funny, not really, but she supposed they were used to this sort of thing more than what most would be - Sage was probably a little bit more accustomed to it than she was, though.
