The doctor chuckled at the girl's response, nodding and rolling his eyes. "He's certainly special," he snorted, though there was no mistaking the fondness in his voice. He chuckled slightly and shrugged. "knowing him, if you did pull it out of a sewer he'd make it his personal mission to make it the happiest cat alive," he hummed with a nod. He snorted again and gave the girl a look. "You'll be rethinking that comment when he brings a horse in here," he chuckled lightly.

The girl nodded in agreement with the doctor... he was certainly special, in many, many ways, and she couldn't say they were all bas. She then chuckled lightly, knowing that would be exactly what the boy would have done if she pulled the animal out of the sewer... I mean, it was what people were doing for him, and he just seemed to be trying his hardest to make everyone else happy. She couldn't wrap her head around it... the boy needed others more than they needed him, and yet he still just seemed to be trying to make people happy. She admired him for that. What she wouldn't admire him for, though, would be dragging the horses into the ward... to be honest she might have to cry a little bit if he had done that, just imagining the clean-up job. She snorted an agreement before standing up. "I've finished up here... are you okay for me to go? There's a cook now so you'll all be fed if I go back to the quarters," she told the man with a bit of a chuckle.

The doctor chuckled and nodded, waving the girl on her way. "I think I'll manage to survive without you," he hummed. He went back to writing in his notebook then, humming "I trust you. Find something you think he'll like," to the girl. Sage was still happily babbling away to chaos... probably talking the horses ears off, though he didn't seem to care much. Chaos put up with a lot from him, he thought, and patted the horses absentmindedly with a grin. Eventually, he ran out of things to say and just lay there, happy to be back. (What if someone claims to be Sage's mom and comes to the castle and he sorta snaps a bit and Mari gives him the kitten on a really, really bad day after that? Might be nice)

(Ahw, yeah! That'd be really sweet, I think) She nodded lightly and stole the newspaper to flick through before waving to the man and wandering off to her quarters again. Once there, she just kind of flopped on the bed with a bit of a huff, clearly relieved to just... stop for a little while. She just kind of felt like she'd been on the go for so long, it was nice to get a bit of a break... she knew the doctor would let her have a couple of days off if she asked, but she just kind of felt bad about it. She knew he didn't need her all the time, but that kind of worried her too... if she was away for too long, he might realise he just didn't need her at all, and that kind of made her panic. Soon enough, the girl started to flick through the papers again, looking for any kind of advert for Sage's future kitten... she did hope he'd like the surprise.

(we could have her stop in tomorrow and then Mari find a kitten the day after that or something) Sage sort of just lay there with chaos for as long as he could, until the sun had started to set and it got a bit too chilly for the thin tunic he wore. So, he reluctantly slid off the stallions back, giving him a hug and pat on the neck, as well as a goodbye him before going back into the barn to wish mystery (and snowball he supposed) goodnight as well. He went through and checked on all the other horses too, out of habit, before wandering back into the castle just before the sun disappeared completely. He found a plate of food on the bedside table when he slid into his room, and he ate what he could before putting the rest down and curling up under the covers with a yawn. It was nice to be back....Mari's house had been nice, but it was busy, and louder than what he was used to, so the quiet of the doctors ward was very welcome. He fell asleep rather quickly, and was out cold when the doctor came in to check on him. He chuckled slightly and brushed a bit of hair out of his face gently before taking the leftovers out to the cart by his office.

(We can do that!) Mari found herself flickering through the papers way longer than she should have. She'd ended up missing dinner, and it was about twelve in the night when she managed to read the whole way through. She'd found some that we're pretty close by though, but that'd have to wait for a few days to be ready to go... well, that was more than fine. She sighed before forcing herself up to shower then got herself ready to go to bed. She slept pretty soundly through the night, though she did wake up early to get back to work. She had to run down to the ward to make sure everyone had all the maids they needed ready, other than Sage because he genuinely seemed alright for the time being. If he was hurting he'd have to let her know.

Sage woke up a little bit later in the morning. He'd slept much later than he usually did, but he was really tired. Whatever. He did feel pretty good after getting a good nights rest. He settled to just drawing mystery again, curled up in her stall with snow. The filly had grown quite a bit, and he wanted to capture the moment. He'd probably draw Ginger next, but he wanted this drawing to be perfect first. He had plenty of time though, since Mari was busy and the doctor was out doing stuff. The doctor was out gathering some herbs in front of the castle when the woman walked up to him. He didn't recognize her, but she introduced herself as Sage's mother, so he sighed and brought her to the kitchen before leaving to get the teens. She looked like the boy, but something felt...off about the woman.

Mari had gotten most of the morning jobs finished up... though, she felt like there was very little to do now that she didn't have to cook for everyone... of course, she did enjoy cooking, but having to find tasty meals that sick patients could stomach was... difficult. It was nice to have that weight off her shoulders, and she could still mess about in the nice kitchen whenever the cook wasn't in. Once she'd finished off, the girl went back to the handwritten newspaper, and eventually found an advert for some kittens that were pretty much ready to go... of course, there were no drawings of the animals or anything, but they were described as ready to go, two tortoiseshell females and one black male... well, she could go and see them later on that day, whenever she got the time. She knew the person selling them... or, she had had a conversation or two with him, but that meant she could drop in without sending a letter in advance.

The doctor wandered into the ward to see if Sage was out and about...if he was still asleep then he'd have to have the strange woman come back another time. He did see Mari and grunted a hello. "Is Sage up," he asked her. "We have a situation," he grumbled, sort of wandering over to the boys room while he asked the girl the question. "I might need your help convincing him to deal with it," he huffed. "Well, deal with it unviolently anyway," he muttered. (Bit short I'm on the run)

Mari looked to the man with a bit of a smile, ready to show him the advert she'd found before hearing his slightly more... serious tone. "No... I haven't seen him today, actually," she told the man as she stood up and wandered over to his side with a slightly cocked head. "Why, is something wrong?" the girl asked, clearly a little bit worried looking. She wasn't sure she'd be much use if the boy needed help dealing with anything... but if the doctor thought she'd be of use, then she was happy to try and help.
