Sage hummed thoughtfully and nodded. "I guess I was rather out of it," he admitted. "Not that I'm much in it now, either," he huffed slightly. He nodded when she said she'd given the kitten to him earlier than planned....he was glad she did, because he'd definitely needed her. "I'll think of a name," he promised her. "I just need to get to know her first," he hummed.

The girl nodded lightly to the boy and gave a look of understanding... or a look that told him she was trying to understand. "Well, what happened yesterday wasn't particularly nice... and I don't think you were in a very good place anyway. You were tipped over the edge, is all," she told the boy gently as she looked at the small animal, which just seemed even tinier curled up in his lap. She then looked at Sage and gave a bit of a nod to the boy. "Take your time with it," she chirped lightly. "I'm sure you'll think of something that's perfect for her."

Sage sighed and nodded in response to the girl. "Probably," he admitted. "Though I'm not at all sure what happened yesterday." He wrinkled his nose slightly and shook his head. "I can't believe I threatened that," he huffed. "I don't care if I threatened her, but that was... excessive." He didn't want to be like his father....he was quite honestly terrified he would end up like the man, and it was moments like that when he felt like he was turning into him. It was scary. He looked down at the cat then and nodded, face relaxing a bit back to it's normal state. "It's gonna have to be perfect," he hummed, scratching the kitten behind her ear, much to her liking. "She's sweet," he commented. "But so small. How old is she?" She was obviously young, much younger than Ginger, but he didn't know very much about cats if he was being honest. She seemed so tiny and frail, especially in contrast to his own rough skin. But it just made her seem so much more special.

Mari nodded lightly to the boy and half wrapped an arm around his shoulder, not really sure what to say about the topic... he'd kind of scared her too, but she didn't want to tell him that... she didn't want him to genuinely believe he'd done something so incredibly wrong. The woman had done wrong too... and she'd pretended to be someone whom she simply wasn't, and it'd clearly touched a nerve with the boy. However, he had threatened the woman that he'd smash her head against the wall. After a moment or so she sighed and pressed a friendly kiss to his temple before giving the quietest of chuckles. "I mean... I personally wouldn't have threatened to kill her, it could have been worse - you could have actually done it," she mused before looking at the little animal, who was purring away quietly on the boy's lap. "The man said she was about twelve weeks old... she might be a little bit younger," she told him quietly.

Sage sighed and nodded slightly, a tiny grin forming when the girl pecked his temple lightly, though it didn't stay for very long. "I suppose so...I probably would have hit her if the doctor hadn't yanked me back," he admitted softly, almost sheepishly. "I don't think I would have gone to that extent...but I probably would have killed her." He shrugged slightly and looked down at the kitten again to focus on something. "If there's one thing I've learned from living in the slums streets for so long it's to kill quickly and get out. Threats only do so much sometimes," he mused, resting his head on the girls shoulder and leaning into her slightly. "Makes me wonder how I can do that and with the same ease care for something so gently," he admitted, stroking the kittens ear lightly as she chewed on the crinkly carrot. He nodded when she said how old the kitten was...it made sense that's when they'd be selling them. "So you're just a little baby," he cooed softly to the kitten, who picked her head up and pricked her ears at the sound of his voice, eye huge and rather innocent looking even though she was trying to destroy the toy under her paws.

The girl gave a type of hum as she thought about what he was saying... it did make sense, and she did know what it was like down in the slums... but he'd gotten so much worse of it all. "Thank god for the doctor then... I don't think I would have had the balls to stop you from lunging at her," the girl mused softly. When he rested his head against her shoulder she smiled lightly and patted the side of his head. "You'll do it," she hummed softly and gave a bit of a smile. "And you can because you've got people around you that'll help you... you have got people that care about you, you know, we're all here to help you when you need it," she added lightly before watching him pet the kitten's ear. She then couldn't help the giggle that escaped her when he made his little coo to the kitten. "Yep, just a little baby," she repeated to the boy, in a voice that kind of imitated his.

Sage felt an amused smile flicker over his face for a moment when the girl mentioned not having the balls to stop him. "You don't have balls," he noted with amusement. "And I'd probably have just dragged you along, unless you picked me up or something." He hummed thoughtfully and sighed. "I know," he hummed. "I'm just not used to it....it was always just me. Seems crazy I have a...dad..and friends. People who want to help. And actually want to help...not just use me," he admitted. The kitten looked over at Mari in response to her coo before looking back up at Sage's face, climbing up on his torso again to sniff his chin curiously. "Hi kitty," he couldn't help but giggled at the tickle of her whiskers, stroking her back but letting her kind of explore....he supposed if he was going to be her human she may as well know what he smelled like. Plus he didn't quite have the heart to push her away...he enjoyed this, and she was adorable, and wasn't hurting anything.

Mari gave a kind of sheepish chuckle when he repeated her, but they both knew it was true enough. She did like the boy, really, but she had to admit his little outburst was a little bit frightening. But you wouldn't think that now... not when he had a tiny kitten climbing all over him. "You think I can pick you up? Maybe a couple of weeks back but I think I'd struggle now, don't you muscles?" She mused, referring to a couple of days back when they were in the little wood-cutting station. She smiled softly when he mentioned the people he had helping him. "You'll get plenty used to all of us in time. Encase you haven't noticed, you're pretty much always under the supervision of myself so you don't get much of an option in the matter," she mused lightly before shaking her head. She then chuckled lightly to the boy. "You're kind of hard to take seriously when you baby talk kittens, you know," she told him with an amused chuckle... it was sweet, though.

Sage shrugged with a chuckle. "Anya picked me up a couple times," he admitted. "I think I probably was just a doll to Luther was he dragged me back here last time," he noted with amusement. He nodded at her next comments and sighed. " I know. You wont ever let me forget it either, will you," he hummed, nudging the girl slightly. He grinned sheepishly for a moment at her last comment though...really he couldn't help it. "She's cute," he protested. "Who wouldn't baby talk to her? She's a baby." Then he wrinkled his nose. "Probably the doctor," he admitted with a slight chuckle. "But he'll grow to just adore you now won't he," he hummed in that baby talk voice, nuzzling the tip on the kittens head with his nose, much to the cats delight. She sort of leaned her head into the touch and purred louder, which set off a tiny giggle from Sage.

Mari cocked her head at the boy and gave a bit of a chuckle. "I'm not too surprised about Luther... the man was a bear. I have to say I am a little surprised the princess managed to move you," she mused before shaking her head at his next comment. "Nope, not ever," she chuckled before tickling the cat's cheek when he nudged her. "You did it to yourself, though. And you love me really so you don't mind," she then added with a bit of a laugh. She then pouted at the kitten and murmured something about Sage in a silly baby voice. "Yeah, she's cute," she then told the boy with a laugh.
