The girl furrowed her brows at him slightly when he rested his head on her lap, and gently went to run her fingers through his hair. She knew he was right... she just felt like she could have done more to help him. That she could have done more to keep him out of a situation like that. To help him, like she promised she would. They could have taken a different route, some other way to keep him away from that... it wasn't nice, that was for sure. She looked up to the doctor when he came in and pursed her lips ever so slightly to him. She'd help, of course she would. She took the little Cotten pads soaked in whatever the man had on them before looking to the boy with a soft sigh. "Do you mind?" She asked the boy, and when he shook his head she went to put a couple of fingers under his chin to move to the side so that she could get to the bigger wounds first. "This is gonna sting," she told him gently before carefully wiping the wounds clean. She just wanted him to be alright... and she still felt just awful for him.

Sage sort of just let the girl fuss over him and wipe off the cuts and scrapes that crossed his face and torso. He probably had some on his legs too, but he could take care of that later...he wasn't going to have the girl do anything else. He didn't mind necessarily, but he wasn't sure she'd want to take his pants off either. He'd sort of just hummed in response to her comment about the sting ...he knew well enough it would sting. Normally, he'd fight the doctor on needing something like that, but right now he was content to just lay there. He didn't care that the girl was cleaning wounds. Then again, normally he would have also gotten floated that the girl was touching his neck...but that was the last thing on his mind right then. Though, he supposed the girl was grateful there was still a pulse there. He could tell she was upset, and he wished he could console her, but he was exhausted now. Maybe when she was done he could just grab her and sleep. Then again, he had his arms wrapped around Amber, who seemed to know something was wrong and was licking his chin comfortingly, and slightly worriedly, and he didn't want to let go of her either.

Mari had to carefully move the kitten from his chin so that she could wipe a small grave, then let the little animal back at him, considering she seemed to know something was up. She sorted his torso and back out in a few minutes, and had to put a bandaid on one or two of the slightly worse cuts. She put everything to the side once she was done, and just kind of played with his hair. She just wanted him to be okay... she didn't know how to do that, though. "Sorted," she whispered to the boy before going to pet the kitten. "Anywhere else or is that it," she asked quietly. She didn't know what else to ask... she definitely wanted to think about this a bit more... the whole tavern thing. It really did scare he me a bit, so she wanted to talk to him about it... but this wasn't the time. He needed to rest first.

Sage hummed and shook his head slightly in response to the girls comments. "I'll be alright," he hummed. "Just kinda wanna sleep," he admitted with a kind of chuckle. He could only assume that the girl would understand a little bit about why he was just so tired...she'd grived before, and he was sure other bad things had happened, even if he couldn't collect his thoughts enough to think of a specific time she'd told him about. He sort of just cuddled up closer, wanting the girl to be as close to him as possible. Though, he wasn't sure if she was mad at him for working rooms or if she was upset he was hurting. Or both. It was all so confusing, and he just hoped it wasn't her negative emotions directed towards him. It probably wasn't he knew that...but that's what he was used to, so he couldn't help but worry.

The girl smiled softly to him and patted his head when he wrapped his arms around her waist and cuddled in a little bit more. She hoped he knew she wouldn't be upset with her or anything. She'd be with him no matter what, every step of the way... and she knew it wouldn't always be easy for him, so she wasn't expecting everything to just... work. He would never have a normal life, and she knew that. "That's alright..." she murmured quietly before bending down to press a light kiss to his cheek. "Go to sleep then," she whispered to the boy, trying another little smile. She knew how hard life could be... she hadn't told him half of the things she'd been though, and that was because he didn't need to hear it. He didn't need to carry anyone else's issues... not when he was struggling with his own. Edited at March 1, 2023 08:04 AM by Belle

Sage hummed happily and gave the girl a thankful smile, curling up a bit more, the kiss reassuring him a bit that the girl wasn't upset with him. He closed his eyes thankfully, Amber settling down against him quietly as if knowing he wanted to sleep. She stayed pressed up against him though, so sage sort of just hugged her close to his face, burying his nose in her fur, and sliding as close to Mari as he could before letting himself slip off to sleep. He was a bit nervous...he wasn't sure what dreams would come his way, and he hoped that the girl and cat would both stay with him. It would probably help him sleep much better.

Mari watched as the boy got comfortable, and kept on running her hands through his hair. She just wanted to keep him safe… and if she couldn’t do that, then she could at very least make him feel like he was safe. Because right now, he was. “I’ve got you,” she whispered to the boy before grabbing the blanket from the bed and draping it over the boy and kind of tucking it around him. She moved to lean against the bed frame, though careful to keep herself with the boy. He just needed some rest for now… and she hoped both her and the cat would help a little bit.

Sage sort of half heard the girl's comment and hummed sleepily in response before he was out cold. He slept rather well, he thought, considering what had just happened. He still had nightmares here and there, but they weren't as potent as they often were...probably because he felt safe with Amber and Mari right there with him. He was tucked up firmly in a blanket too, which also seemed to help the situation. He wasn't sure how long he slept, but he stirred quite some time later and opened his eyes slowly. Amer immediately perked up and sniffed his face, which tore a tiny giggle from him as her whiskers tickled him. "Hi baby," he murmured stroking the cat gently until she settled down. He felt much better...he supposed some time to just calm down and take a breather was nice, even if he was pretty sore now. It would probably get worse, he knew that, but he supposed it didn't really matter.

Mari sat with the boy for quite some time... just trying to keep herself awake. Trying to be conscious just encase he needed her. He seemed to flinch a little bit every now and then... but he did seem calm. Calmer, at least. She wasn't asleep, rather sat up against the headboard im her own little world. She was brought back to reality when she felt the cat shift around, though. She smiled softly at the boys chuckle to the animal before resting her head back and closing her eyes just for a moment or two, really just glad he was okay. Or, okay as he could be. "Hey," she whispered to the boy after a couple of second, though didn't move much more than that.

Sage hummed a hello to the girl in response to her comment, tilting his head to peer up at the girl. He was still a bit groggy but was waking up more as he was awake longer. "You didn't have to stay," he hummed quietly, almost as if not wanting to make the quiet go away. He was thankful she had, of course, but she certainly hadn't had to. She looked tired....she could have gone to sleep at the very least. But he was definitely thankful. (Bit short)
