Mari gave his hand a bit of a squeeze when they stood up and pressed a light kiss to his cheek. "Don't worry, alright?" She asked softly before wandering into the kitchen with him. Her mother was busy cooking away, and she seemed light and happy. She did enjoy seeing the woman when she was like this... it was just nice. She was a quiet woman, and she often just seemed sad... but when she was skipping around the tiny kitchen like this, a soft smile on her face, Mari just seemed to light up at the sight. "Hey," the girl chirped to the woman with a bit of a smile, leaning into Sage ever so slightly as her mother turned around. "Maria... what on earth are you doing here? I didn't think you'd be coming until next month..." she trailed off, looking rather curious as she walked over to her daughter and wrapped her in a kind of hug. Mari chuckled softly before nodding. "Well..." she looked to Sage with a bit of a shy chuckle. "We have some news, so we thought it was best to drop by... good news, and well, I was hoping you'd have something to help," the girl hummed slightly to the woman. She already looked... suspicious as she turned around to mix her broth, though her smile was still light, happy to see her daughter. "Of course... what's up," the older woman asked with a bit of a hum. Mari paused for a moment before leaning into Sage a tiny bit more. "We... I... well," the girl babbled for a moment, not expecting this to be so... difficult. "Well, I went to see the doctor a few weeks back... turns out I might be pregnant," she whispered, though she wasn't too sure if the woman could hear her. She seemed to have gone still, but she soon turned to the two of them with a bigger smile. "Really?" The older woman asked with an upbeat hum. "Well... congratulations," she chirped to her daughter before wandering over and pressing a light kiss to the girl's forehead, which resulted in a bit of a chuckle from Mari. She was probably thrilled at the prospect of having a grandchild... especially considering she didn't think she'd live long enough to see it happen. "What is it you need help with, then?" she asked with a cocked head.

Sage sort of just watched the reunion with a kind of smile on his face, and let Mari talk a bit. He was sort of shifting about nervously next to her the entire time, desperately trying not to hold her hand too tight as the conversation skipped to the topic they'd actually came for. He felt his shoulders relax slightly when the older woman responded so well....he hadn't heard her talk much before, but she seemed to just be really happy now. Though, Mari hadn't exactly said he was the father....but her mother could probably tell that from the way he was hovering over her shoulder protectively. "Well ... She's been having some issues with migraines and nausea," he hummed, giving the older woman a rather tired smile. "We were wondering if you had the same issues, and if you might have any tips or tricks that might help..." He trailed off then, a light blush covering his face, though he wasn't quite sure why.

Mari gently ran her thumb over the boy's hand when he started squeezing her hand... she was nervous too, but she trusted her mother, and she was a bit relieved that she'd reacted so well. It was kind of implied that Sage would have been the father... she supposed, he was pretty much standing on top of her at that point. And, well, her mother had probably picked up on their relationship a while back. Mari leaned back into Sage when he started to talk, and looked back at him with a sheepish smile. "It's... it's kind of bad. And we're both exhausted," she told the woman quietly. Her mother looked thoughtful for a moment before going through her cupboards. "When I was pregnant with Anthony I had really bad morning sickness and stomach pain," she told them before turning around with a small box of tea bags. "Peppermint tea helped to settle things. And lemon tea, though try that more at lunch," she told the two of them before handing her daughter a small box. "Just find somewhere cold and dark when you get your migraines. It'll make you feel better a little bit quicker.. and eat. It wont make you feel any better but you need to eat... especially if it's for two now. Just try plain pasta if you're really struggling," she prompted lightly. Mari smiled and thanked the woman with a bit of a nod. She handed the little box back to Sage after a moment with a bit of a hum. "That goes for you too... remember to eat properly," Mari told the boy with an amused hum. The girl's mother nodded in agreement before grabbing a hot water bottle from under the sink and handing it to Mari. "If you're struggling to sleep, but this on you're stomach and put your feet up somewhere... just get comfortable. It should help to settle a bit more." She then looked to Sage with a bit of a smile. "Like Maria says, make sure you get food and rest too... she's going to need you," she hummed before shooing them out of the kitchen and into the living room while she cooked.

Sage watched the woman rummage about in the cabinets, curious as to what she'd give Mari. He was surprised to find that it was something as simple as tea and a hot pad that would help the girl ...the medicine the doctor had given her only worked so well. Then again, he wasn't sure if she'd taken any pills, since she didn't really want to eat or drink anything. He took the box when she handed it to him, turning it over in his hands curiously before grinning sheepishly at Mari's small tease. She was right, and he knew that, but still. He thanked the woman as she showed them out of the kitchen, still rather surprised that she'd spoken to him at all. The woman had taken the news quite well, and it did lessen some of the nerves that were knotted up in his stomach and chest, but he was still pretty nervous about telling Anthony. He made sure Mari was comfortable on the couch before plopping down beside her with a slight grunt. "That went....very well," he hummed lightly, looking down at the small boxes in his hand again. It would be dinner as soon as it finished cooking, and Anthony came back in, so he was still a bit nervous but hopeful Anthony would take it well too, especially if he realized Mari was happy about it. Another thought tugged at the back of his mind, too, one that was no less nerve racking, but he'd just have to remember that later, be a use he was pushing it away for now.

The girl let the boy help her settle on the couch, deciding that nothing she said would get him to stop fussing. When he plopped down next to her, she smiled softly and pulled him into her chest. "I did tell you she was alright. She's a bit ditzy, but as long as we're happy she doesn't really care... and, I mean, it's not like Anthony is going to be having a kid anytime soon. She's probably excited to be around to meet her first grandchild," she hummed as she placed a light hand on her stomach... she wasn't showing at all yet, but just knowing there was something in there... it brought a certain life to her face. "She was always going to be the easiest to tell," she mused lightly. "And... I think she was happy. She's never been very talkative," she added with a bit of a chuckle.

Sage hummed in agreement and nodded. "You did say that," he admitted, rather sheepishly. "And she did seem happy...I think that's the only time I've actually heard her talk," he admitted with a light chuckle. He smiled when the girl mentioned her seeing her first grandchild and leaned against the girl lightly. "I'm excited to see the baby," he chuckled. "I think Anthony will be too as long as you can convince him this is all a good thing." He shrugged lightly, and looked over to the door where he could see Anthony bringing more wood inside and heard their mother calling that food was ready. He patted Mari's hand and helped her up again, to get some soup and then sat down next to her as everyone was settling down to eat. He had to force it down his throat, he was so nervous, but he'd let Mari be the one to tell the rest of her family...it really was her news. He was just the father.

Once everyone was settled she let a normal conversation start... just about how they'd been over the last few weeks, and how Xander had been at school, the bakery... her mother had made an effort to ask about what Sage did at the castle, which then brought on a whole other conversation between Sage and Xander about the horses. It was nice to see. When things went quiet, Mari glanced to Sage and fidgeted quietly before forcing herself to say something. Xander would be excited to be an uncle, and Anthony would be too, as long as she could convince him this was a good thing, and it was what they both wanted. "The reason we stopped by was that we have something... exciting to tell you," she hummed as she looked towards her oldest brother. Her mother knew, and she was giving her a kind of comforting look. "We found out a few weeks back that we... I'm pregnant..." she paused before looking to Sage with furrowed brows. She felt Xander bouncing up and down, but clearly not sure what to say... Anthony, though, was just looking between the two of them with furrowed brows. "What?" He asked, his face screwing up a little bit. "With him? Is that not a bit soon? You barely know him," he huffed, getting a little bit more exasperated. He wasn't upset... he just seemed kind of... concerned. Her mother tried to say something to her son, but she was just shot a glare... she knew he was just protective, and, well, Mari was his baby sister. The girl shook her head slightly before cocking her head. "Look, this is a good thing... we know each other more than enough," she hummed quietly, not quite sure what to say... he was right, she hadn't known him long... but she did know him pretty well. She just needed to make him understand that.

Sage, as nervous as he was, was glad that Mari had let other, normal conversation start up. He did want to get to know her mother better, and of course he loved talking to little Xander about the horses, especially Mystery and Chaos. Though, he sort of tensed up again a bit when Mari first told Anthony she was pregnant, and he kind of just sunk lower into his chair, a light blush covering his face at the boys comments. He wasn't wrong ...it was fairly early, he knew that ...but he also couldn't read the boy well enough to know whether he was mad or not. He was clearly not thrilled with the thought of his little sister being with child, especially with someone he didn't really know. But all sage could do was shrug and try not to throw all of the dinner he'd just eaten back up into the bowl it had come from. He just seemed to be getting more nervous by the minute...he wasn't used to this many people, and when people started yelling, he either broke and started panicking or he broke and panicked and hurt someone, and neither one was very preferred.

Mari rested a hand on the boys knee when she felt him getting a little bit antsy... she didn't think there'd be any yelling, but she could have him go off with Xander if there was... she didn't want him to freak out with Anthony, it'd just make things worse. But he was right... she hadn't known Sage very long. Not long enough to be pregnant with his child. It hadn't even been a full year... and yet, here they were. But she loved Sage, more than she'd ever loved anyone... she didn't think they would regret this. She might never find anyone as good as him again... and she really didn't want to lose what they had. "Well enough," the boy scoffed, "What does that even mean? You're pregnant with his child, Mari. 'Well' isn't good enough, is it?" He told her with a sigh. By then, Xander and her mother had kind of skulked off. She didn't mind... it was probably better if they stayed out of the way of this one. "Anthony, this is good," she told him as calmly as she could. "I didn't even think I'd be able to have a child... ever. And I'm pregnant now, and there's no one I'd rather do this with than Sage... I know you're worried, but we both want this," she reasoned quietly before shaking her head. "And it is going to happen whether you like it or not," she told him after a few moments. She felt herself becoming nauseous again... maybe it was because she just wanted her brother's approval of... well, this, and the mix of her just eating... it just made her feel ill again. Anthony seemed to notice her paling, though. He frowned and looked to Sage... if this was what she wanted, then that was alright... but he needed to know she just wasn't going to be left by this man she'd barely met. "You want this too?" He asked the other boy. "You're going to look after her and this baby?"

Sage threw Mari a thankful look when she reached out to try and calm him down a bit. He supposed she knew, better than anyone else here, that loud noises or telling of any kind set him off. He wished he could stop it, but it was like his brain took over....he couldn't help but freak. He winced slightly when Anthony continued to chew the two of them out. It was obvious what the boy thought of him, and he sort of just chalked it up to the fact that he didn't want his sister to a, get pregnant so quickly and b, get pregnant with someone of his rank. He just automatically blamed himself for not being good enough for Anthony...it seemed likely, given his past experiences with people. But, the girls argument back did make him feel a bit better. At least he had Mari. She was someone. She helped him. He looked back over at Anthony when he spoke directly to him, the side of his mouth twitching slightly, almost in a slight amused manner. "I wouldn't have dragged her out all this way if I didn't care," he finally muttered. He would have told what he'd told Mari....about her giving him a family he'd always wanted...but he just didn't think the older boy would care about him. About his past. "If I were going to freak and leave, I'd have done it when she first started throwing up everywhere," he noted with a kind of snort, obviously getting defensive. He was trying to calm himself down but....his instincts kicked in in these situations, when he got stressed and defensive, and he was just trying not to snap at Anthony by then. For no reason other than he was so used to having to defend himself.
