Mari grabbed a small blanket and pulled it over the two of them after a moment or two. She did think his comment was cheesy... but it was sweet all the same. "I suppose so. I need to drink it before I feel like spewing everywhere, though... maybe at night. It just settled things down a bit." She shrugged before running her hand softly through the boys hair. She had to get to work soon, but he could rest. "If there's anything you want I'll make it for you if I feel well enough," she told him lightly before pecking his cheeks. She wished she could do more for him... but this was enough for the time being.

Sage smiled softly at the girl and nodded, humming "good, I'm glad it worked." He nodded again at her second comment, though he wasn't going to bother the girl unless he really really needed something, he'd already made up his mind about that. She was struggling enough, she didn't need any more work or anything. A soft smile came about his face when she pecked him on the cheek, and lingered in his lips even after he'd fallen back asleep. There was really no way he could stay awake, not after she'd covered them up with a blanket and had started running her fingers through his hair. He wasn't planning on going back to sleep, but he supposed he just really needed the rest....he could go find Mari in a bit. He didn't want to stay asleep while she worked for long, but he also figured she wouldn't want him passing out on her either.

Mari sat with the boy for a little while, happy with the soft touch of his hand in her hair... it was nice, and she felt safe. Still she eventually had to get up, so pressed a soft kiss to his cheek before quietly slinging out of the bed. She quickly got changed and made her way down to the ward. Things were alright for a few hours, maybe until about lunchtime when her ears started ringing and her head started to pound. It hurt, but she kept on going for as long as she could. She didn't to cause too much of an issue for anyone... but her hand started to numb, and eventually she lost half of her vision in her left eye... it hurt, really bad, but she just had to keep on working. Her migraines were always like this, and they always passed in a few hours... so she could deal with this for as long as she had to. She was normally alright, but it took her jumping into four door frames before she just started to break again, the way they had before. She had to lean against a wall in the corner of the ward for a little while... she eventually had to slide back down, hiding her face in her hands as she tried to find some kind of darkness. She didn't want to cry about it, it wasn't a big thing, but she couldn't help the slight sniffle that escaped her as she hid her face away.

Sage didn't notice the grill leave...he hadn't even moved as she slipped out of the bed. He slept for a while, and when he finally woke up, he realized he'd slept much longer than he'd originally wanted to. He forced himself up and out of bed, and decided to head to the ward and look for Mari. She usually started feeling worse right about this time, and she'd probably need him there. Or want him, whichever you prefered. He padded over to the ward, and soon found his ..girlfriend?...curled up in the corner. He sighed and sat down next to her, sort of wrapping his arms around her so she could bury her face in his chest, and block out more light than her fingers could. He didn't say anything...if her head was hurting he didn't want to hurt it more. but he sort of just wrapped his arms around her, entangling his fingers in her hair and rubbing gently, hoping that helped a bit.

Mari sat for a little while before kind of melting into him she was like exhausted. Well, she supposed she was. She hadn't felt this bad in... a while. But she'd been alright that morning... granted, she had been throwing up, but this was... worse. It was nice to have Sage there, but she was still tired. She didn't say anything, rather she just kind of buried her head into his chest, just grateful to be away from the brightness which seemed to have burned her eyes. She did have tears dribbling down her face, but it was from pain more than anything. She was just happy to have someone hold her until this passed over. Edited at March 13, 2023 09:54 AM by Belle

Sage just pressed his head against the girls when she leaned into him, wishing he could take on some of her burden. He kept just running his hands through her hair, gently rubbing the back of her skull in hopes that it would at least be comforting if it didn't help the pain at all. He wished this wasn't so hard for her...it really was awful to see her like this. He also wished she'd stop working when she felt a migraine coming on...the doctor had said she didn't have to work if she felt bad, and he made up his mind to talk to her about that later.

Mari was just sat silently for a little while, welcoming the gently touch of Sages hand in her hair... it did feel nice, and took her mind off the pain she was feeling. They must have sat there for about an hour and a bit before she finally felt good enough to pull away... her head still hurt, but at least she could see now. She just moved to wrap her arms tightly around his shoulders, quietly thanking him for just... being there with her while she went through this. Because it was scary... she knew plenty of people felt like this, but it was just a bit... worrying. "Thank you," she whispered again as she tucked her nose into the crook of his neck.

Sage was relieved when the girl finally pulled away and wrapped her arms around him. "Of course," he murmured in response to her thanks, wrapping his arms around her again, giving her a bit of a comforting squeeze. "I want you to stop working when you feel a migraine coming on, and find a quiet place before you get like this," he whispered, desperately hoping the girl would accept it all. The doctor had said it was fine, and this was rediculous....no one should have to feel like this because they were trying to keep working. The doctor could manage just fine without a helper every second of the day. And the royals should all start coming back soon, since the castle was fixed, so he could get more maids to help if he really needed it.

Mari just nodded softly to the boy... he was right, and to be honest she never really got much done when she was like this. But she had to work... especially if the queen would be back soon. She really, really couldn't afford to lose her job, and the queen would absolutely have her sacked if she saw another maid doing whatever she was meant to be doing. But she supposed they had a while until that happened... and her migraines weren't overly frequent. And, when she got herself in a state like this, she became everone else's burden... and she didn't want to make everyone else suffer because of what she was going through. That wasn't fair at all. She nodded again, though just hugged onto him tighter. She wasn't going to apologise, because it got annoying after a whole, but it seemed clear she meant it. "I don't know if I can do this... it's only been a few weeks, and I'm already terrified this is going to go wrong," she whispered in an almost hesitant tone. She did want this child, she really did... she just hated how disgusting she felt, and that everone else had to deal with her when she got like this. Edited at March 13, 2023 11:34 AM by Belle

Sage nodded and sighed in response to the girl's comment. "It won't," he murmured. "You'll be fine," he promised. Nothing could go wrong...if it did, he wasn't sure he would be able to handle it. He was trying to convince himself of the fact everything would be fine just as much as he was trying to convince Mari. "Nothing will happen....the doctor has lots of experience and he's watching too," he whispered quietly. When the queen came back, she'd have to give some leeway to the girl ..after all, she'd been pregnant at some point too. Then again, her work for the queen was better, less physical labor and more combing hair and picking out outfits and whatnot. (I was thinking, they all come back in a few days, and Mari has to tell the queen the news, and maybe the doctor visits her and convinces her to give sage some of the horses and a job at the barn? Maybe they could get off on a new foot lol)
