The class headed outside to what seemed be a soccer field. Mr Carr had grabbed a bag of balls before leaving, which he opened and tossed on the ground. Kai grabbed a football and tossed it at Drake's face when he wasn't looked, almost hitting him in the eye. The boys laughed and walked to an open part of the field and started throwing it. It felt great to be throwing again and Kai was running routes for him, it almost felt like a practice. He looked over his shoulder for Ella, finding her and asking "Ella, do you know how to throw a football?"

Ella bit her lip rather hard, shaking her head at Drake's question. Of course she didn't, why would she? As far as she knew, she had never touched a football in her life. She stood back from the rather rowdy football-throwing, not exactly wanting her eye to be taken out, before speaking. "no. do i look like i would?" she asked, though leaving a jokey tone in her voice so she didnt come off as serious.

"C'mere, I'll teach you." Drake smiled, gesturing for her to come over. He caught the throw from Kai, and held the ball out to Ella. "So you want to hold it with your dominant hand, with your fingers on the back laces." He adjusted his grip on the ball to demonstrate. "You stand sideways, with the ball up by your ear. Then you throw, like you would with a tennis ball or any object really. Make sure you twist and follow through." Drake threw the ball to Kai for a demonstration, who threw it back. "I'll catch it for you so Kai doesn't nail you in the face on accident." He said, handing Ella the football.

Ella listened to Drake's explanation quite closely, nodding as he spoke. Luckily for her, she was somewhat smart and her brain worked quite fast with instructions, so she was confident she had took them in after he finished talking. She took the ball, slightly nervous, looking up at Drake uttering a thanks. "but you can in no way blame me if I cant do it" she joked, flashing a warm smile before launching the ball, following the instructions she was told. To her delight, she threw it (in her opinion) quite well, watching it fly through the air. "was that any good?" she asked, scraping the hair out her face.

Drake watched her take the ball, and throw it, with a warm smile. It was quite good for he first attempt, Ella seemed very pleased. He held his hand up for a high five, "That was great! Maybe I need to be worried about you taking my spot on the football team!" Drake joked. He ran his hand through this hair, there was a bit of a breeze outside. Kai had caught the ball and threw it back to Drake, which he caught in his right hand. "You want to throw it couple more times?"

Ella reciprocated the high five with energy, something she hadn't really had for most of that day. She peered around at the field they were on, eyeing her friends as they attacked each other with hairbrushes, before turning back to Drake, nodding. "of course, i'm basically an expert now" she joked, letting out a soft laugh before taking the ball from him. She did a couple throws, both of which she seemed to manage to control, and as the teacher finally announced the end of the lesson, handed it back to Drake with a smile. She hadn't really had this much fun in school for..god knows how long.

Drake took the football back from Ella, both of them smiling. "You're really getting the hang of this!" He was quite impressed, she looked really good for someone who'd very thrown a football before. He tossed the ball back to the teacher and headed for the school doors. On his way in, Kai leaned in and whispered in his ear, "Making me feel like a third wheel there eh?" Drake chuckled a bit and threw an arm over his shoulders, "Not falling in love again. Not after last time." He shook his head and gave Kai a small smile, running his hand through his hair, pushing back what had flopped on his forehead. Kai gave him a tight-lipped smile, clearly not believing him. When they arrived back in the classroom, he picked up his backpack and gave his friend a half hug, saying he'd see him after school. Facing Ella, he said "Suppose we got a free period. You wanna go find a place to sit or somethin?"

By the end of the lesson, Ella had very much relaxed, and become a lot less tense than when she first entered the school. She headed in and got her stuff, before waving goodbye to a couple of her friends and heading down the hall with Drake. She scraped her hair back into a loose ponytail, leaving a couple strands out, and then finally picked up with Drake, joining him by his side. She had enjoyed that lesson a hell of a lot more throwing footballs with him than she would have sat in a classroom jotting down stuff she would never ever use. Still, if he was next to her it wouldnt have been so bad. As he spoke, she stuffed her phone back in her pocket and nodded, offering him a warm smile. "sure. aslong as its somewhere quiet, the first day of school couldnt get any busier" she said softly, looking around at the bustling halls.

Drake nodded, "yeah there's a place on first floor that is usually empty." He walked out into the tightly packed hallway, nodded towards the far end, way from the main stairs. He walked until the reached the end of the hallway, and opened a door that looked like it should be for a janitor's closet. Instead, it revealed stairs. Drake went down the stairs, gesturing for Ella to close the door behind her. It was dark in the stairwell, so Drake turned on his phone flashlight. There were walls on all sides of the stairs, and didn't look like there was a door, but he ran his hand along a wall, finding a handle and opening a secret door. Outside the stairwell there was a couch, two bean bags, a table, and a big window behind the couch. "It's always empty in here because no one knows how to get in. We'll have to go back the way we came to get out which is inconvenient but I think it's worth the quiet." Drake said with a smile, plopping down in a beanbag.

Ella nodded as Drake spoke, following him down the halls. She was grateful for the fact he had taken to her comment about finding somewhere even remotely more quiet than the school halls, she definitely was not prepared to hear all the dodgy, sometimes worrying conversations from others. Nor was she ready for her friends to come screeching at her about the fact she was talking to a a guy. Just as Ella was starting to wonder were they were actually going, being led down some dark stairs, she felt relief as Drake opened a door to a room she had never knew existed. She raised her eyebrows and turned to him, glancing at the various beanbags and couch, and stuff. "you weren't wrong about it being quiet" she laughed, sitting next to him. "i like it" she added, turning to face him.
