Malakai laid there unconscious, his breathing low and slow, with a lot of help from his ventilator. A nurse slipped in to add his meds to his IV, that was pumping him full of painkillers. The nurse didn't stick around for long she just dipped her head to Camery before slipping away. ... In the void, Kai curled up in a ball, sobbing. He hated being alone. He hated being away from her and it hurt so much.

Camery just sat next to him, her fingers entwining softly with his. She didn't know how consious he was, if he was consious at all. He had tubed everywhere. and he looked so beat up. His wings were wrapped up, and his head too. She didn't know what do do. "I'm so sorry," she whispered to him. It was her fualt that he'd ran off... it was her fualt this had happened. She couldn't her her, or reply, but she could sit with him at least, so that when he did wake up he wasn't alone. Edited at January 16, 2025 03:51 PM by Belle

Malakai stayed unconscious for the next few hours before he woke. His eyes fluttered open and he looked around. The lights felt too bright, but he looked around anyway. He didn't know where he was or what happened. He looked up and saw her. He tried to say something, but the tube for the ventilator protruded from his mouth. His brows furrowed and he lifted an achy hand and tried to pull off the ventilator mouthpiece.

Camery sat with him for ages, longer than she thought she had. She was just watching him. The gentle rise and fall of his chest, the only thing keeping him breathing the ventilator. When she spotted his shift, though, she sat up a little, squeezing his hand softly. When he started trying to pull the mouthpeace, though, she shook her head and quickly grabbed his hands, calling the nurse through to do it so that he didn't injure himself.

Malakai whined hoarsely. Tears welled in his eyes. He was so sorry. He didn't mean anything he'd said during that fight and he regretted it, so much. The nurse came in when she called. She looked at him and clocked what was happening. "Your majesty, you really should keep that on," she said gently. Kai let out another whine, a tear rolling down his cheek. The nurse bit her lip and nodded. The nurse went over to him, upping his dose of painkillers and taking off his ventilator mouthpiece. "You shouldn't talk too much," she commented before slipping away. Kai looked up at Camery. "I'm sorry..." he whispered hoarsely.

Camery watched quielty as the nurse came in, though his soft whines and the tears that started rolling down his cheeks just broke her. She put a hand on his cheek to clear the tears, and gently clearing them away before squeezing his hand. "Shh, Kai, it's okay. I'm just glad you're here," she whispered gently to him. She was so tired, so worried about him. "I'm sorry too, for yelling," she murmurd to him, her eyes soft. "I'm so sorry," she murmured.

"No... it's my fault..." he whispered hoarsely. "I wasn't thinking straight... I shouldn't have yelled... I didn't mean it... I'm sorry..." his voice was almost non existent. Tears continued to roll down his cheeks. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."

Camery shook her head gently to him, giving his hand another squeeze. "Malakai, you did nothing wrong, it's fine," she murmured softly to him. "I yelled too. Right now, you just need to take it easy, don't waste your breath, hm?" She asked him, her hand falling from his cheek and resting on his chest. She just wanted him to be okay... that was all she wanted for him. He was struggling right then, and she wanted to help. "Just try and relax. You were shot down, and all I need from you now is to heal."

Malakai took her hand, holding it tightly. He did everything wrong. "I'm sorry..." he whispered. But he nodded. He was tired and achy. "Okay..." he agreed. "Can you stay? Please?"

Camery smiled softly after a moment, and gave a small nod. She still felt awful for upsetting him the way she had. She didn't mean to 'play with his feelings,' as he'd put it, but she knew she'd hurt him. That was the last thing she wanted to do. When he asked her to stay, she nodded gently. "Well, I don't have much of a choice right now," she murmured softly. "The whole place is on lockdown, until they found out who shot you," she whispered carefully. "Your mother is really worried about you,"she then added. "Everyone is. Orianna wanted to see you earlier, and I caught your mother just now when she was leaving," she whispered, keeping her voice low. "I can go get them for you? Let them know you're awake," she offered softly.
