Sage hummed lightly and nodded with a shrug in response to the girl's comment. He could cook....he'd always had to, so it wasn't really an issue. He sort of rummaged around before finding some spices that looked like they'd go well on a cut of beef. Or whatever meat it was....be assumed it was beef. He sort of just tossed stuff together and plopped it on the stove top to cook it up a bit. It sizzled on the grill while he rummaged about for some carrots and some other sides before putting it all on plates and sliding in next to the girl. "Deer is better, but it'll do," he mused lightly, handing her the plate.

Mari read through the properties in the news... there was never very much, because no one really moved, but there were a few nice little places. She grinned over at him when he handed her a plate and leaned over to peck his cheek. "Thank you my loooove," she joked lightly before starting to tuck in. She pointed at one of the little houses, a bit of a smile on her face. It was just a description... a three-bed cottage, small living area and kitchen. It was on the outside of the village, which was pretty perfect. "Doesn't this sound nice? It's not too pricey either," she told him thoughtfully. They could maybe go have a look at it... it might nice nice.

Sage rolled his eyes and chuckled at the girl's comment. "Of course, your majesty," he snorted, joking around of course. Mari was no princess....but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. She was perfect just the way she was, and he really couldn't ask for anything more. He cocked his head and looked down at the cottage Mari pointed out and nibbled at his food while he unscrambled the description. "From what I can read, it sounds like it would be worth a visit," he hummed lightly with a nod.

Mari pouted at him before taking a bit of food. "You could only wish I was a princess," she mused lightly before shaking her head. She nodded lightly at his comment. It did sound nice... exactly what they'd want, too. "Maybe," she hummed lightly. She continued to dig into her food, eventually looking over to Sage once she'd finished. "This is amazing," she chirped lightly to him. "I need to get you cooking for me more often," she told him with a small chuckle. She loved her cooking, she did... it was more than fun, but it was definitely better with Sage here.

Sage chuckled lightly and shrugged. "I had my fair share of princess. I think you're more my league," he teased the girl lightly. He shrugged slightly when she said the food was good, a light blush painting his face. "I got good at making things taste good. Had to make Liz eat some things that most people wouldn't ever eat," he admitted. "The amount of time I pulled scraps out of a trash can and made soup or something astounds me now," he mused. Then he gave the girl a grin. "Besides, it's hard to mess up the quality food this place has." Then he snickered and shook his head. "The cook manages though. I think I still have a meatball knocking around in my stomach somewhere."

Mari rolled her eyes at him before shaking her head, a jokey gasp escaping her. "What, is that the only reason you picked me? I'm more your league, huh?" She huffed in a more mocking amusement. She didn't care why he'd chosen her... she was just glad he had. He was her world, and not much would change that. She smiled at his blush, but that quickly turned sour when he said he'd been digging through the trash. "Well, you must be talented, then," she told him lightly before taking his now empty plate and starting to wash up... he'd cooked, so the least she could to was clear up for him. She nodded when he mentioned the cook and nodded in agreement. "I'm surprised the queen puts up with it... it's horrible," she chuckled lightly.

Sage rolled his eyes at the girl's tease and shrugged. "Maybe I just feel less guilty about taking away your innocence," he teased lightly. Not that she was all so innocent...she'd grown up in the slums too, and her past wasn't an exceptionally pretty picture. But he was talking about a certain kind of innocence, and she'd know what he meant. He shrugged and chuckled lightly. "The right herbs will fix anything," he hummed lightly before getting up to put the dishes away after she'd washed them. He chuckled again and nodded, then made a face and shrugged. "I think she puts up with a lot," he mused. "Food is the least of her worries," he chuckled.

Mari chuckled at him before shaking her head. "I don't think you know me as well as you think you do," she mused lightly. "I also think you take too much credit... and that you should have felt guilty anyway - why wouldn't you have?" She asked with an amused chuckle. She nodded in agreement to his comments about the herbs. "That's true enough. You'd have no idea how many times I've had to fix up some of my brothers food when we were young. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to poison me," she joked with a small smile... they'd been really struggling once her father had died, but it was Anthony who made sure they were all safe and fed. She supposed that was why he was a bit upset about Sage... he felt like he was loosing his responsibilities to look after her. She then shrugged gently. "I think a nice meal would be good for her. And yeah, she does put up with a lot... you being one of those things," she teased lightly.

Sage chuckled lightly and shrugged. "Well, I have to say, you wanted it, so I don't feel all that bad about it," he noted with amusement. "I only feel bed when Anthony makes his disapproving face," he joked lightly. He chuckled and nodded in response to her comment about Anthony making food. "He really loves you," he hummed. "And I think he'll love Silas too, when he meets him," he pointed out happily. He snorted and sat back in his chair at her comment about the queen. "Then bring her a nice meal one day," he chirped. "And I used to be a lot worse. I still remember that time Luther and I were in the secret tunnels, scaring people out of their minds. We scared the two of them, and then when we overheard their battle plan I opened the door, tire through the wall paper, and told her her idea was crap. In those words." He shook his head in an amused manner. "I probably caused her a lot of headaches," he mused lightly.

Mari hummed lightly to him before shaking her head. "Doesn't matter much - you didn't take anything away anyway," she mused to him. "So let's not be too proud, hm?" She chuckled lightly. When he mentioned her brother she shook her head. "Aw, that's just his face," she laughed lightly. It was amusing to her... her brother really did love her, and she knew that. He'd make a face at pretty much anyone she talked to. "He's done a lot for us... he's a bit protective. We lost a lot of money when my father died, so he looked after us all," she murmured quietly. She did love her brother for that... he was the reason she was still here, for sure. "Oh, he'll adore Silas. He was excited about it anyway," she chirped happily. She nodded lightly in response to his comment about the queen. "Yeah... maybe I will," she chirped. She then wrinkled her nose. "You were a menace. This was before the rebellion, yes? I remember the other maids screaming," she mused.
