The stallion really DID think it was a shame, as he was usually very lonely. |

The young mare trotted across the river, the water reaching her stomach. She climbed up the bank and continued trotting across the prairie. She watched the stallion carefully as she broke into a lope. |

He heaved a sigh and dropped to his belly, laying down in the waving grass. He knew nothing he said would convince the mare to stay... if he wanted company that much he'd have to follow. He made a face. |

He got back up, trotting down near a big grove of trees where he could more easily watch the mares whereabouts and be comfortable. He shook his pelt. |

She slowed to a walk, for a little bit. It was starting to get dark, it she still had a lot of ground to cover before she got out of that stallions 'territory'. She stopped and took a few bites of the long grass. She lay down and pulled her legs close to her. She closed her eyes and tried to sleep, as she planned on leaving early in the morning. |

He watched the mare curl up, sad. He knew she would leave early. "Maybe I shouldn't even have told her this was my territory." He snorted, trying to be sarcastic but he still felt bad. All alone.... again. |

She heard a snort and sat upright. She quickly pulled her legs under her and sniffed the air. She caught sent of the stallion and snorted loudly. She followed the sent and galloped to it. Once she reached the stallion, she said, "Are you following me?" |

Jen stood quickly. "I haven't moved but from the top of the hill to here, which is my sleeping place. Short answer. No." He tried to keep the hint of sadness out of his voice. |
