She followed him lightly, sensing his reluctance. She flared her wings to settle on the edge of the cave with him. She followed him inside and settled on the carved bench, running her hands over it quietly. She sat in silence, curling her knees to her chest and keeping her wings out, wrapping them around her. She ran her fingers lightly over the feathers, sitting back.

Ajax finished starting the fire, watching the small flame flicker and grow at a surprising rate till it was crackling nicely. He then folded his long legs and sat down on the ground, leaning against the rough cave wall with a sigh. "So, we've both had a glimpse of each other's lives. We've both seen other people from our species. If you ask me, I would love to help people, but man can other angels be rude." Ajax started of sincere, but a smile grew on his face and anyone could tell it was all just a setup for the joke at the end. "At least with demons you expect them to be idiots."

She rolled her eyes. "Oh, trust me, you have delivered on that expectation and then some." She teased, unfurling her wings and slipping off the little bench to get closer to the fire. "So, do you live here?" She asked, tilting her head at him.

Ajax let out a snort, raising his black eyebrow at Mercy. "Are you calling this demon an idiot? May not be the best idea." He teased, his dark twinkling eyes the telltale sign he didn't mean it. At her question Ajax nodded, glancing around the small cave. By small he meant... small enough he had to duck to avoid his head hitting the ceiling. The cave may have been 6'2... but Ajax was 6'5. "Yes, for now anyway. This has been my resting place for the last couple weeks... but over my years of being a demon I've never had a *home*. I just reside whereever my work is." He explained, stretching out one of his legs away from the fire and towards the entrance of the cave while keeping one bent, then slinging his arm on top of his bent knee.

"Oooh, now im just terrified." She teased, sitting at the edge of the fire now, and still seeming cold. "Its very... uhm... cozy." She chuckled, watching him. "It must be especially so for you, seeing as you're- well- the size of the Eiffel Tower." She pointed out, flaring her wings against the fire so she could retain more heat.

Ajax cast a glare at Mercy, but he couldn't really keep a smile off of his face. "It wasn't meant to scare you, shortstack." He joked right back, a sly smile on his tanned face. "I barely spend any time in it, so it just has to keep the rain off me. It doesn't have to be cozy" He answered absentmindedly, watching the trees rustle and shake outside. At her last comment he looked rather exasperated, but not really in a bad way. "It's not my fault my father was tall and my mother was tall! I didn't just decide to be 6'5." Ajax snorted. It was quite unhelpful... for fitting into spaces, flying through trees, and going into houses with doorways that were only 6'.

"Short stack? I will have you know I am average sized, Mr. Skyscraper." She huffed, smirking at him. "Yeah, well, I didn't decide to be 5'5 either." She huffed, glaring at him with a little smile. "Anyhow, time for more questions. What do you miss most about being alive? Or human, or whatever." She asked inquisitively, tilting her head at him.

"Average size for what, a lemming?" Ajax barked a laugh, still teasing. When he saw a good opportunity to tease or joke around with somebody, he dove in headfirst, and it wasn't his fault Mercy literally opened a gaping hole for the perfect insult/tease. -Aw naw not more questions- Ajax thought like a wilted flower, though he listened to the question and answered. He looked thoughtful for a moment, like he was trying to remember something about his shorter life on Earth. -23 was too young to die at- Ajax thought momentarily, his brain trailing off. He finally tugged it back and answered quickly so he didn't keep Mercy hanging... forever. "Well, I enjoyed my short round of 20's, running the cattle ranch at top speed." Ajax finally replied, his head tilted. "Riding for weeks to drive the cattle to the selling place, rounding them up for winter... I was always happiest on the back of my horse, West." He finished, almost musing.

"It sounds nice." She said, watching him and tilting her head. "Very simple. Somewhat peaceful." She nodded, standing up and walking to the edge of the cave, settling down there and flaring her wings slightly to catch the small evening breeze. She sighed, looking down at her hands in thought, her eyes glazing over just slightly.
